Kelly takes charge at Southampton
This afternoon, chairman Nicola Cortese presented 36 year old Luke Kelly as the new first team Manager at a press conference hastily called in at St. Mary's. Having played 35 times for Ireland (scoring seven goals), he's no unknown to us. He also knows the Premier League fairly well, having played for West Brom, Everton and Manchester United, famously saving a sure goal in the last minute of the 2008 Champions League final. He had also been manager of the Irish National Team since January of this year, of yet it is unknow wether he will continue in this position.
Mauricio Pochettino, the Spurs-bound previous manager welcomed the signing, wishing Kelly all the best, "except for in the Spurs games". Jose Mourinho meanwhile answered a journalists question about the apointment: "Who is this guy? I never heard of him before. He'll be sacked before Christmas, want to bet?".
