Under Performing Players

In my game Luka Modric (bought by AC Milan) got 10, when Kaka got
injured, and Modric replaced him on his position.
He played 4 games and his rating was 8-10-9-9.
When Kaka got back, Modric went back on the bench. It's weird,
because I'd give Modric a chance to play with Kaka in the first squad.
But it's only a game and "virtual Ancelotti" is Milan's manager.
I cannot give U a screen because it was in season 2007/2008.
Now I'm finishing 2008/2009, so the stats are gone

its really weird, i havent ever gotten a 10 for any player, and never seen opposotions get it.

even though one players scores 4 goals in a match

when U create a strong and well-working team,
it is possible to have at least 7 in every match.
well working strikers from my game:
Tevez-Van Nistelrooy, Rooney-Tevez, Rooney-Villa,
Rooney-Zlatan, Raul-Van Nistelrooy, Berbatov-Defoe.

not well working:
Rooney-Owen, Van Nistelrooy-Saviola, Torres-Crouch,
Van Persie-Eduardo, Adriano-Fred, Drogba-Shevchenko.

thats weird, i have never had that kind of a problem to be honest.

it think its upto you to give a good personal instructions tactic to get the players working together.

and my ipswich team i have many star players, i got a brilliant team and i am a winning team now, but its still not easy to get high ratings and all.

10 is possible but it's difficult my striker got 10 before as he kept threatening the goalkeeper and he scored all the goals in the match..well that was the only one time i got 10 the rest is usually 8 or 9 lol.

Leeds united can't afford barzagli or get him to come over..bojan and santos are nono too..hoping to get promoted to premiership and then my reputation will go up too heh.

hmm.. that's unbelievable! As far as I can remember, my players never got 10 even though he scored 4 goals in a match. But, I admit I was wrong then.. The screenshot tells everything! it's possible although it's not often the case. Cheers fella to show me I'm the deluded one..=D=D

Anyway, regarding under performing players.. How do you guys think about Ivan Rakitic? Has anyone ever got him for your club?

I've got him in 3 different clubs and based on his stats he's supposed to be a fairly good player. Granted his transfer fee is always cheap he never really seems to perform and show his class by having some good technique attributes.. :con:dontgetit

nah, but what i have learned over the years at fm is that always try to buy the same players that i am familiar with.

i dont go for a good looking player on fm, i think out of all my signings i probably have at most 3 who dont make it.

but it might be a player thing that he just sucks, or that you havent given him the personal instructions that suit him...

Rakitic is overrated.
In reality he plays well.
In my game Newcastle bought him and he mostly sits on the bench.
When he plays, he mostly got 6 and doesn't score much goals.
I think that he is good in a weaker team, like Schalke, but
in a strong, major european team, I guess he can't stand the pressure.

He never gets 8 or at least a consistent performance through the season and that makes me start to think he's somewhat overrated.:O_o

Samir Nasri is better than Rakitic.
G. Higuain can play as AMC and he can be a good
connection between midfield formation and attacking formation.
He's very versatile player, but not cheap

playingdrama : whoever saying one of his players got 10 (especially as a defender!) must be deluded! The rating system is very tough in FM 08 and as far as I can recall, 10 is absolutely a non-existence rating.. even if your striker scores 6 goals in a game he's still gonna get 9 at the highest. I'm with you RedArmy... this guy is deluded mate!:con

In my barca game where i won with 7-1 from real madrid (yes 7-1 :D!!) i had 4 10's 6 9's and 3 8's.

So its definetly posible :p

Oh and about hte underpreforming players. Xavi is one of those.
in a 4-2-3-1 tactic (basicaly with barca plays too) his average is a 7 while hes a key player for barca... and if you ask me messi should score more overall :(.

Dos santos on the other hand, damn that kids good. Stats are ok but he can assist and score like noone could in my game :o

i have realised one thing.

there is no such thing as "underperforming"

haha, well it is that some players just arent that good.

but u have to give ur players the right instructions, some wont adapt easily etc etc etc etc.

if u get many of these things right u will most probably get a good team.

i usually like to have players from the same country as i manage, then i like to have "teamplayers, determined and loyal players", this is a good thing, your team will play as a TEAM and its easier for the determined lads to work them back and win or draw matches even though 2-0 down etc.

its hard to get these players with great mentality as there technichal abilities, but i dont often get "underperforming" players, it might be that they might not start well or something but in the end most of the players i buy or have they do their job

There are 2 particular stats you can check with genie or other data editor that have a lot to do with a player's performance.
It's important matches and consistency. I try get player who have at least 12/20 on both those stats. If you get a player with very high consistency, it is almost sure that he will have 7+ rating in any match no matter the instructions.
