Tony Popovic, All Around the World

Just to preface this, I would like to mention that I know this is my second story, but this is because I had issues with the first, and after writing 6 or so updates, I was just not enjoying the save and the writing was not what I wanted. I waited a while to upload this because I had exams recently, but they are all over now. So I have nothing to do now except write.

Who Am I?

I am Tony Popovic, the current manager of the youngest Australian A-League club, the Western Sydney Wanderers. The 2014/15 season will be only the clubs 3rd season in the A-League. Ever since they were made as a team in 2012. They have been one of the frontrunners for the title. In our first season we finished as the Minor Premiers, finishing on top of the table but losing in the semi finals of the finals. In season 2, we were second in the table, and unfortunately losing in the Grand Final.

What is this story about?

This story is going to be me, as Tony Popovic. I am going to try and dominate Australia to start, and then hopefully I am going to be able to make the move to a bigger club in a different country like England, where Tony has been rumoured to go to in real life.

Goals for the Story

Unfortunately, due to the start date of the save, I will not be able to compete in the Asian Champions League, a major mistake by me
- Win the A-League
- Win the Sydney Derby (Western Sydney Wanderers vs Sydney FC)
- Become the manager of the A-League All Stars
- Become the Manager of Australia
- Manage a Champions League team
- Manage a team in Europe
- Get into hall of fame for managers

Team Analysis Before the 2014/15 Pre-Season

Ante Covic and Dean Bouzanis

We are very lucky to have 2 quality keepers ready for the upcoming season. Ante Covic is one of the fan favourites at Pirtek Stadium, after joining the club as one of their first ever signings, the 39-year old has won the Goalkeeper of the year. He will definently be our starting goalkeeper for the A-League. His younger (23 year old) counterpart is Dean Bouzanis, who recently joined the club on a free from Sky Bet League 1 side Carslile, where he made 36 appearances, he is a Liverpool youngster. He will most likely play in the cup games for us, as I much prefer Ante Covic, but who knows what will happen when Ante retires.

Left and Right Backs

Daniel Alessi (RB), Daniel Mullen (C/RB), Anthony Golec (LB), Iacopo La Rocca (L/CB) and Shannon Cole (R/WB/M)

We are slightly lacking in the wing backs, despite having a lot of players who can play either LB or RB, we do not have anyone who is a star in these positions. This is something I hope to change over the transfer window. But I will still analyse our current players regardless. One of the hottest prospects in the team is our 16-year old RB Daniel Alessi, who I will be trying to play as much as possible, as I like to make the most of young hot talent that I have on my hands. Shannon Cole, the Australian capped winger/midfielder is going to be playing a large role in my tactics this season will be needing to continue to practice playing RB, where I will most likely play him most.
Shannon Cole is full of emotion

Other players that may get a chance at playing R or LB are Daniel Mullen, Anthony Golec and Iacopo La Rocca

Centre Backs

Brendan Hamill (CB), Matthew Spiranovic (CB), Nikola Topor-Stanley (CB)

Centre back is probably our strongest position. We are very fortunate to have the services of starting Australian centre back Matthew Spiranovic, who will be partnered by our club captain Nikola Topor-Stanley. We also have a very handy youngster who will be able to back up or maybe even fight for a place if someone is out of form. Hamill is one who I will be looking to make the most of when I can.
Matthew Spiranovic playing in one his 21 Australian caps

Wide Midfielders

Shannon Cole (D/WB/MR), Romeo Castalen (AMR), Brendon Santalab (ST/AMR), Kwabena Appiah-Kubi (AMR/L)

We are relatively strong in the wide midfield position. But I would still like to strenghten it if I can in this off-season. We are lucky to have people like Shannon Cole who can play everywhere, but I am hoping that other people can step up and help him. We have the very experienced Romeo Castalen who I will be relying on to give the team a boost and gather the troops while feeding them with some terrific pases. We also have the speed and youth of Kwabena Appiah-Kubi who will become a force in the years to come, who hopefully will play at LM or AML. Santalab can also fill in, but will most likely back up at striker if needed.

Central and Attacking Midfielders

Vitor Saba (AMC/MC), Mateo Poljak (MC/DM), Labinot Haliti

The midfield is going to be very strong this season. Especially in the formations and tactics that I am planning on using this season. Vitor Saba is our man to replace Shinji Ono as the marquee player, and I very much hope that he can deliver for us. He will be playing with Mateo Poljak, one of our most talented players who has been at the club since the start. Haliti can also player central midfield and will partner one of these players depending on the formation.
Hoping to fill the void left by club favourite Shinji Ono as the Marquee man

Tomi Juric, Mark Bridge, Brendon Santalab

Striker is by far our deepest position on the pitch. We have a large amount of players that can play it, and play it well. Tomi Juric is one of the hottest prospects in Australian football and I am sure will have a cracking season. He will be partnered by the club legend, Mark Bridge who is the leading goal scorer in the history of the club. Brendon Santalab will also have a role as the main backup and hopefully he can bang some home as well.
Mark Bridge will be looking to continue his goal scoring record this year

I like the squad analysis, even though many people won't know the players :P

But don't worry, I do ;)

Juric will need to be scoring goals for any success, but Spiranovic and Covic in defence will be amazing!
skinna - thanks for the support
feliks (degs) - well they will know by the end of my reign
The particular midfield will likely be quite strong there is much surprise. Specifically in the formations and strategies i always am thinking about by using season. Vitor Saba will be your man to exchange Shinji Ono because marquee player, and I a lot desire which he may supply for people like us. He can always be using Mateo Poljak, among your nearly all accomplished people that has been recently at the golf club considering that the begin. Haliti may player main midfield and can spouse one of these brilliant people depending on the enhancement.

A great choice of league as it is rarely used! It will be interesting to see if Dean Bouzanis does well with him being a former Liverpool FC player! Good luck for the upcoming season.
He's lived on four continents, played professionally in three countries and coached in two. He is Tony Popovic—the head coach of the Western Sydney Wanderers—and he is just getting started. It doesn't matter what country he calls home or what language his team speaks; Tony Popovic has always been able to connect. I will have to visit website for help in my essay. Whether it's on the field as a former defender for Australia and Crystal Palace, or off it as the head coach of the Western Sydney Wanderers, his passion for the game is more than apparent. "Football has been my life," he said during an interview. "I've been around it since I was young and I've seen a lot of things, but I wouldn't change any of it." The excitement that comes through when he talks about football is palpable—his love for it is obvious.
