Tactical Question

I am now into my third season with Burnley. I have managed to get us playing some good attacking, possession-based football. However, often we dominate games (60%-65% possession) but still concede about 3 clear cut chances, which often results in a scoring draw.

How do I stop this from happening? I have tried putting all my defenders, aside from my right back, on "close down less often" and "mark tighter" but it's still no use.

Also, I'd prefer if my striker was normally ahead of my AM and AP but that normally isn't the case.

I play 4231 Narrow, Fluid Control. Shorter passing, retain possession, work ball into box, play out of defence, exploit the middle, play wider, push higher up, close down more, use tighter marking, prevent short gk distribution, lower tempo, be more expressive.

left-right: GK(D), FB(D), CD(D), CD(D), CWB(S), DLP(S), BWM(D), AM(A), AP(S), AP(A), CMPF(S).

I tend to drop the two cms to dm for big matches against the top 5.

I had this exact problem! I chanced my luck with a sweeper keeper and that seemed to work for a while, then I just dropped a dm into defence to play 5-1-3-2.
Speaking from experience, the instruction 'mark tighter' can be a sticky point. Your defence can be too worried about marking the strikers, when you face a good striker there pace or movement can mess completely with your teams shape. Leaving ample room for runners from deep or wingers to find space. Hope this helps, let me know if so.
