On a side note, I'm already on the second season currently in the save so I'll be rushing through the first season's updates, also I won't be able to provide some stuff like the league table for every month since I didn't take screenshots of them at the time I was at those particular months, you'll get the general idea by the results I have though

A great month for Brendan Rodgers and his Liverpool boys, who start the season in a brilliant manner winning every single one of their first 3 games, as well as scoring 9 goals and conceding 1 in 3 matches.

Liverpool August Player of the Month

Nathaniel Clyne has had a fantastic start to life at Anfield and has repaid Rodgers' faith by performing admirably throughout the entire month. Clinching the Man of the Match award on his Liverpool debut against Swansea, he assisted the winning goal scored by Philippe Coutinho, finding the Reds' number 10 with a pinpoint cross. His consistency should also be noted as he terrorised opposing wingers and full-backs with his runs during the games against Stoke and Leicester, particularly putting on a masterclass against the Foxes. Duly deserves the Player of the Month award for August.

Manager's Thoughts

It's always good to start on the right track and we've done it with three very impressive wins, and keeping two clean sheets also which is always something to be pleased about. Aside from Clyne, I feel that the front three of Raheem Sterling, Philippe Coutinho and Lazar Markovic were very exciting to watch all month. They play brilliantly together and have already forged a strong understanding. Hopefully we can continue on with this form, as there's a lot more matches to come in September, including games in the Capital One Cup and the Champions League.

Liverpool have been placed into Group F of the Champions League this season. It will be the Reds' first appearance in the Champions League since 2009 and have been blessed with a relatively easy group, managing to avoid giants like Barcelona, Real Madrid, or Bayern Munich. They, however, will have Portuguese powerhouse Porto to compete with for top spot.



FC Porto are no strangers to the European scene, but have barely made it to within touching distance of the Champions League in recent years, having only managed a Quarter Final finish at best. Their last, and only Champions League win came under Jose Mourinho in 2004. Despite failing time and time again to make it past the Quarter Finals however, Porto have a good record of breezing through their group stages and are arguably the strongest opposition to Liverpool in Group F.


The prolific Colombian striker has a great goalscoring record for Porto and is definitely the danger man. Since joining Porto in 2012, Martinez has racked up a tally of 46 goals in 60 Primeira Liga games, a stat that will definitely cause the other teams in Group F to pay closer attention to him on the pitch.


The Romanian champions won't exactly be considered very highly as a threat, having never been able to pass through a group stage in the Champions League. They failed to register a single Champions League win in their group last season, which had the likes of Schalke, Basel and Chelsea. However, although Steaua might not be the greatest team, they will be desperate to prove themselves against Liverpool and Porto.


Steaua's first team squad might not have much to shout about, but teams will have to look out for Cristian Tanase, who plays on the wing and is one of Steaua's most important players.


Last season's Swiss Super League winners FC Basel are ones to watch. They have qualified for European competition every season since 1999, something that shouldn't be scoffed at. Basel are most known for producing upsets against teams like Manchester United and Bayern Munich in the Champions League, and will be hoping to repeat some of that magic in their Group F matches.


The central midfielder is a youth product of Basel and has been playing for the club since his arrival at their academy in 2004. Frei played a big part in his team's 3-3 draw against Manchester United three years ago, and is clearly one of the more influential players within the team. Additionally, he has a face that could scare the living shit out of you.

Liverpool start the month badly with a loss against reigning league champions Manchester City, but played well in their remaining games including a very impressive 5-1 thrashing of Porto. However, aside from City, the Reds were also forced to surrender 3 points to in-form Arsenal.

Liverpool September Player of the Month

Steven Gerrard has been excelling in his new, slightly more defensive role and seems to be thriving more with each game. The captain was one of the only Liverpool players that stood out during the losses against Manchester City and Arsenal, and demonstrated his dead ball ability perfectly in a brilliant free-kick goal against City.

Manager's Thoughts

It's really disappointing to come away with nothing against Manchester City and Arsenal as I felt we deserved at least a point from the way we played in both games. Steven Gerrard was magnificent and his free kick against City really blew me away as well. Although a bad month for us Premier League-wise, we've started well in the Champions League with 2 wins in 2 games. I was expecting more of a challenge from Porto, but I'm not going to complain. Hopefully we'll finish top in our group, which is something that's looking more and more likely to happen with every match.

Liverpool have confirmed that they will be without first-choice goalkeeper Simon Mignolet for over a month, after the Belgian fractured his ribs in a training accident last week.

Mignolet has been outstanding so far this season, conceding 8 goals in 8 games played as well as keeping a total of 4 clean sheets. The 26-year-old played particularly well in his club's 4-1 crushing of Stoke City back in August, frustrating both Stoke players and fans alike after denying numerous opportunities for the Potters.

Liverpool's failure to sign a new goalkeeper in the summer transfer window will mean that Brad Jones now has to step up.


Jones joined Liverpool in 2010 but has largely been a bit-part player at the club, having served as backup to Pepe Reina and then Mignolet. The Australia international was touted to leave in August, with various Championship clubs showing interest, but a move failed to materialize.

With Mignolet ruled out, it means that Jones will definitely play in the Reds' crucial league game against rivals Chelsea next month, who boast the likes of Eden Hazard and Diego Costa in attack.

In his pre-match press conference for his side's match-up against Aston Villa, a game Jones is expected to play, Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers said, "It's obviously not a very favorable situation for us, but we will tough it out. Brad's a good goalkeeper and I believe he'll get on just fine."


With his contract running out next year, this could be a big chance for Jones, who has made clear his desire to stay at Liverpool and fight for a place in the squad, to prove himself to Rodgers that he indeed has what it takes to remain at Anfield.

Aside from Chelsea, other notable games in the month include a Champions League fixture against Basel, as well as Tottenham Hotspur who have been drawn to face Liverpool in the Fourth Round of the Capital One Cup.
