Hello all, New member of your wonderful site here. I have long been a browser of the fantastic content on this site, though until now had never thought to actually become "active"
I will be using this thread to guage interest, lock in participants & generally spitball idea's for a new concept/story i hope to get up & running on this site. As the title may suggest, it is an FMScout Ashes Series!
Yes, i hear you say, but what exactly is it?
Well, the concept is fairly simple. There will be 2 teams, an English side & an Australian side, I'm thinking of 5 players each? The participants from each team will play each other in a series of online VS matches with the points (3 for a win, 1 for a draw & 0 for a loss) being awarded to the respective nation, with the winning side to be awarded the prestigious FM Ashes!
As i have mentioned i would also like to run a corresponding story to go along with the competition with updates, scores & general good natured banter. So the question is, who's up for it?
All comments, opinions & idea's welcome!
So thats 2 Aussies in, counting myself. Where are all the poms? Running scared?
So its Australia 3 - England 0, sounds like a proper Ashes series to me! Lol
Wow, this is not playing out the way i'd thought. Assumed it would be us Aussies struggling for numbers!
i will become the first englishman in then

Ok, so we have our first Englishman.
Am thinking it might be time to start talking about ideas.
As far as what teams we will use is concerned there are a few options.
1. We all use our favourite teams from our saves.
Pro's - we will all know our teams well, no will feel excluded by telling them they cant be such or such team.
Con's - May result in an uneven competition, a lot of people are likely to have the same players (Balanta, Munian etc.)
2. We use "default" teams from a selected division. (Premier League most likely)
Pro's - A more even comp, everyone will have a rough idea of each others squads & be able to prepare.
Con's - Some people may feel excluded, the inevitable mad rush to be the big boys.
3. We all download a future game save & use whichever team we like from a selected year (2050?)
Pro's - Teams full of regens would make for a very interesting & unpredictable game imo
Cons - A complete unknown, no one will be familiar with their or anyone elses team.
My idea was to give each player a hypothetical 'value cap' of 50m and we construct our dream teams with that money using the editor.

Yea ok, that sounds interesting to me.
How would we decide a players "value" though? Would we just use their in game value?

Yeah in-game value. That way, with.50m you can't get the really big names and have to be economical

Ok, i like it what does everyone else think?
My vote would be either:
A) We build our own team (though what if some players doubled up?)

We play with a current Premier League team each

Just using standard premier league teams would be the easiest way but how do we decide who will be who?
