Yesterday

Yesterday Ched Evans was realesed from prison after only serving half of the sentence. And today the manager of Sheffield United, Nigel Clough, opens the door for Ched Evans to sign a new contract with the club that he played for when he sentenced 5 years in prison for rape. The striker that also has been playing for Manchester City hasen’t said anything about it yet but at tomorrows (read today) press conference Sheffield will probably comment it again and be more clear about it. The press conference is actually hold because that they want to talk about their goals this season.

Last year Sheffield failed, they came seventh in the table but it wasn’t acctually sure that they would stay in League 1 before the winter break, they fought for staying in the divison and they sacked David Weir after the embarrassing first half of the season. They replaced him with Nigel Clough and that was the right choice. They embarked on a lengthy run of form which also did that they came to the FA-Cup semi-final.

Live

Nigel Clough has resigned as manager for Sheffield United, he said it was because that “the owner didn’t accept me to sign Ched Evans and as a manager I want to sign almost who ever I want”. This means that Sheffield doesn’t have a manager even though Nigel did a great job last season and had a contract for 1 more year. Now they have to find a manager quickly before the league starts. The assistant manager Gary Cosby said that he didn’t know Nigels decision and he is as chocked as us.

Here is a interview with The Blades captain, Michael Doyle.

What do you think of Nigel Cloughs resign?

- I can’t really understand it… Last season he was the one that saved us from... Maybe getting relegated and every single player liked him. I thought that he was the one that could get us promoted but he wasn’t… I don’t belive that he only left because of the Chad thing, I know that Nigel had problems with Abdullah (Sheffield Uniteds owner) but I didn’t think it would lead to this.
It feels like we have to start from zero again…

What du you think of Chad Evans, should he get a new chance or not?

- I don’t want to comment that.

Thank you!

- No problem.
controversial with Ched, good luck
OMGItsToddzy: I know but I wanted something real that made the manager resign... Thank you!

Right Now

After the news that Nigel Clough would resign 2 days ago Sheffield has been searching for a new manager. Romours said that they wanted Oldhams manager Lee Johnsson or Steve Cotterill that’s the for manager Bristol City. This afternoon it took a whole new turn, Lee Johnson said that he would stay in Oldham and just an hour later a grey Range Rover was seen driving into Sheffield Uniteds traningarea. A lot of twitter users thought it was Steve Cotterill and some of them even started to welcome him, here's one of the tweets “Welcome Steve, hope you’ll have a long era in the club #SheffieldUnited #NewManager” -KaiJackson54.

But in the Range Rover there wasn’t any Steve Cotterill… It was a player that ended his carrer a few seasons ago, a legend from Liverpool, it was Jamie Carragher. He has just finished his licence and could actually be the next manager. He played 508 matches for Liverpool and scored 4 goals and were one of the players that brought the UEFA Champions League title to Liverpool.

It's now done, new manager for Sheffield United!

http://i1.mirror.co.uk/incoming/article1777190.ece/alternates/s615/Jamie%20Carragher.jpg

It’s now official, Jamie Carragher is the new manager for Sheffield United. Sheffield announced it on their website and he signed a 1 year contract with £1 900 p/w. This means that Jaime has a year to show every Sheffield supporter and person around the club that he belongs there. He is very clear with the goals the club has this year…

- Get promoted
- Reach the third round in the FA Cup
- Reach the second round in The Captial Cup

I’m very happy with everything right now, the club is amazing and yeah I don’t really know what to say… I talked with the staff earlier this morning and all of want the same thing this season, a promotion. Last time Sheffield United played in Premier League was the season 06/07 and they got relegated after coming at the 18th place. They played 4 seasons in Sky Bet Championship before they got relegated there aswell and the last season wasn’t good either so I hope to turn this bad luck. In 2 to 4 seasons I want to play in Premier League with this team and I think we have a chance to do that.

The team I have right now is fantastic and I actually think this team could play in Sky Bet this year and get the 10th place maybe. All the players want to get to the next level and they will fight for it. Even thought there are a few weeks left until the League begins I think we are ready for it.

In a year I hope i’ll sit here again and say that we are ready for Sky Bet Championship but for now my focus is winning this League.

My plans for this season are as you probably saw last update are to get promoted, reach third and the second round in the FA and Capital One Cup. But I’m only the manager and I won’t play the matches but the players will and the whole first team is following:

Goalkeppers:

Mark Howard, y/o 27
Ian Turner, y/o 30

Defenders:

Ryan Flynn, y/o 25
Kieron Freeman, y/o 22
Craig Alcock, y/o 26
John Brayford, y/o 26
Jay McEveley, y/o 29
Neill Collins, y/o 30
Chris Basham, y/o 26
Bob Harris, y/o 27

Midfielders:

Michael Doyle, y/o 33
James Wallace, y/o 22
Paul Coutts, y/o 26
Ben Davies, y/o 33
Jaime Murphy, y/o 25
Matty Done, y/o 26
Jamal Campbell-Ryce, y/o 31
Jason Holt, y/o 21
Stefan Scougall, y/o 21
Jose Baxter, y/o 22

Forwards:

Che Adams, y/o 18
Michael Higdon, y/o 30
Marc McNulty, y/o 22

I don’t think i’ll sign any new players because the budget is only £303K and I want players that go straight into the line-up this season. If I sell a player I might buy another but that chance isn’t big. I’m not sure which tactic or formation to use so that will probably the friendlies show… The pre-season matches are against, Portsmouth, Macclesfield, Carlisle and Hyde. Non of them are really “hard” but that will give us the chance to find our good and bad sides.

Key Players

Jose Baxter

http://www.thestar.co.uk/webimage/1.6871670.1412172841!/image/1979108186.jpg_gen/derivatives/articleImgDeriv_628px/1979108186.jpg

Jose is a young player with a lot of potential, he played for Everton as a child and teenager. The season 11/12 he left on loan for Tranmere and got sold to Oldham in 2012. Sheffield United bought him last season and he played 35 matches… I hope and think he can be one of the best players in the league this year. He plays as CM.

James Wallace

Another young and talented player that is a midfielder and that I hope can help this team to get to Premier League, the chance is not very big though… Not the get to Premier League but that he will stay that long. A lot of teams want him such as Liverpool and Spurs but I want him to stay. He is only 22 but I want to show that I belive in him and that is why he’ll the captain.

John Brayford

http://the72.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/Brayf.jpg

A player that can play at every position in the defense which can help extremly much. The player with the best “stats” and the assistant manager said that he was the best player in the club when I came. He will probably play almost every game if he doesn’t get injuryed but his history shows that he gets injuryed once a year…

Pre-Season

It has now begun, the first few matches are done and I have to say I’m happy with them. My goal with them was to find the tactic and I actually did which is very positive for us.

We started of against Portsmouth away and it ended pretty much as I wanted… We also played against Macclesfield, Carlisle and Hyde.

As you saw I won 3 out of 4, embarrassing loss against Carlisle where they scored two of their goals in the 80 and 83 minute… I found the tactic and I’m happy with that. Next match is the official debut as manager for me and the first league match against Bristol City who are predicted to end on the second place.
Tough result against Carlisle, but otherwise a good preseason
Tallery: Yep, thought I would win it easy but yeah... Love your story, you have sick graphics!

First match of the season

As I said we will play our first match against Bristol City at home who are predicted to end on second place (we are predicted to end first).

Sheffield United vs Bristol City

http://pictures.footymad.net/upload/463/854292-1.jpg

Even though this game is the first of the season only 18 499 persons came to see their club play against Bristol who had traveled around 230 kilometers to get to Sheffield.

Starting XI

Sheffield: Turner, Alcock, Collins, McEveley, Harris, Basham, Baxter, Scougall, Coutts, Campbell-Ryce, McNulty (4-1-2-3)
Bench: Howard, Higdon, Murphy, Davies, Holt, Flynn, Doyle

Bristol City: Richards, Flint, Osborne, Williams, Little, Bryan, Smith, Elliott, Ayling, Wilbraham, Agard (5-3-2)
Bench: O’Leary, Tavernier, Freeman, Emmanuel-Thomas, Wagstaff, Cunningham, Douglas

The weather reports had been unclear the whole day but when the referee blew the whistle it was sunshine the pitch was green and not dirty anywhere, no one had been playing on it for 4 months… McNulty passed the ball to Campbell-Ryce and that meant the season was on. Sheffield owned the ball almost the whole 10 first minutes and only one shot had been fired, from Marc McNulty. The match started to open up and both teams started to get chances. Bristols Osborne got the first card after a tackle on Basham.

The best chance in the first half was from Bristol, they played the ball with patience and then Elliott, their captain, saw an opportunity… He hit the ball perfectly and it hit the crossbar, if it would have gone under the crossbar the goalie wouldn’t have anything to say.

The second half started with the same line-up as the first did but this half was a lot more entertaining. Both teams wanted to attack but none of them found the goal until… Paul Coutts started to dribble and made not 1, not 2 but 3 players and then passed it out to Alcock. He ran down towards the corner-flag and then crossed it in, all the Bristol players missed the ball put Jamal Campbell-Ryce didn’t. 1-0 to Sheffield in the 65 minute.

Sheffield “parked the bus” and played on the result, Bristol couldn’t get trough but in the 87 minute Sheffield got a counter and the youngster McNulty could put the ball into the net. The match was over, or atleast almost because Bristol scored on a corner in the 90+2. Bristol could not win because the referee blew his whistle and the match was over. 2-1 to Sheffield United and a very happy manager.
Congrats on the opening day win!
