Gary Bowyer Leaves

Gary Bowyer Sacked! More drama for Blackburn Rovers?

It has been announced today that Blackburn manager Gary Bowyer has left the club through mutual consent. Bowyer is thought to have had a training ground bust up with team captain Grant Hanley, although know one has confirmed this. This news has come as a shock to many fans as he was edging the team closer to the play-offs each season, last season narrowly missing out on them.

Many football pundits have called the sacking 'a mockery' and 'stupid'. More surprising Gary Neville said 'Derek Shaw (managing director) needs to buck his ideas up and get his at together'.

although nothing can be said yet, the bookies have already started saying that Paul Ince is the favourite to get the job.

Former Boss Takes Charge

Grameme Souness - The man of the moment!

In a dramatic week for all Blackburn Rovers fans Grameme Souness has been announced as new Blackburn boss. The news came this morning in a press conference just after 10, with Derek Shaw announcing the news.

Supporters across England feel pleased with the news as Souness was the man who got Rovers promoted to the Premier League in 2001. He also guided the team to winning the League cup in 2002.

Souness has been out of management for 9 years, so he may be a bit rusty at first. Skysports pundit Jamie Carragher has expressed his support to Souness and described the move as 'Smart' and 'promising'. Whilst fellow pundit Gary Neville has described the move as 'terrible' and ' a shambles'.

What's for certain is that if Souness wants to get the team promoted he is in for a long and hard season.

Souness Brings 3 In

In his second day in charge of Blackburn Rovers Grameme Souness has brought in 3 players. Although only £225K was spent!

Is Experience What's Needed?

Experienced defender Anthony Gardner is the first of the three signing. The 33 year old joins on a free transfer after spells with Crystal Palace, Hull and more notably Tottenham. Gardner is thought to be partnered up in the centre defence with team captain Grant Hanley for the following campaign.

The Iraqi Messi: Humam Tariq

The second signing Souness has made is Iraqi international Humam Tariq, dubbed by some as the Iraqi Messi. At just 18 years old this signing is definitely one for the future although, once he's got his work permit, he may be able to have a big impact on games even at his young age. He joins for a minute fee of £225K.

Will Scandinavian Influence have an effect?

The last of the three signings is Norwegian right back Mounir Hamoud, who joins on a free transfer. With a shortage of right backs in the squad Hamoud will definitely put pressure on first choice right back Adam Henley. For now he's backup but if Henley get sidelined it's thought he will jump at the opportunity of being first choice right back.
Nice start and some good signings. Good luck!

August Update - Disappointing Start for Souness

Blackburn 3 - 3 Cardiff
Rhodes 2' (pen), 28'
King 74'

This game was going brilliantly until the end. We got to the 80th minute 3 goals up. But then... Aron Gunnarsson scored in the 81st minute with a placed shot. Then in the 84th minute Peter Whittingham scored a right foot volley from about 25 yards out. It then got to the 4th minute of stoppage time and I thought we had the game all wrapped up, but it was not to be. Grant Hanley brought down Kadeem Harris in the box, the whistle went and a penalty was awarded, hanley was then shown a straight red card. Peter Whittingham converted the penalty adding to his other goal and makeing the game end 3-3.

Scunthorpe 1 - 5 Blackburn (League Cup)
Mahoney 28', 57'
Rhodes 39', 72'
Green 80'

This was a pure one sided game. I decided to go back to my trusty 4-4-2 and give some youth players a game, so I started Connor Mahoney, Devern Green and John O'Sullivan. Mahoney and Rhodes were simply magnificent and definitely showed their quality. I was especially pleased with Mahoney considering his age, I think he will definitely be a big part of my season.

Blackpool 1 - 0 Blackburn

I was really disappointed with this game, although Blackpool won, from looking at the stats we should of won. We had 63% possession compared to their 37%, we also had more than double the amount of shots they had, so yeah, we still lost!

Norwich 2 - 3 Blackburn
Spearing 50'
Rhodes 69' (pen)
Conway 90+2'

This is our only Championship win so far this season. I thought it was going to end 2-2 but in the 84th minute Norwich's Alex Tettey got sent off so I thought we might have a chance, I put the mentality on Overload. It paied off, in the second minute of stoppage time Craig Conway scored a header from a cross by Connor Mahoney.

Blackburn 0 - 2 Bournemouth

Another really disappointing result. There not much to say about this game apart from us being really poor!

Barnsley 1 - 0 Blackburn (League Cup)

We're out of the Capital One Cup, GRRRR. Yet another really disappointing result. Although I played youngsters I thought I would win but Barnsley were simply better. As Alan Hansen said "You Can't Win Anything With Kids!".

Wolves 3 - 0 Blackburn

These results are starting to get annoying now! Another poor performance from the team. Wolves were a different class to us and deserved the win!

August Player of the Month

The player who wins Player of the Month for August is Connor Mahoney. Mahoney has played brilliantly for me since taking over the club, he definitely deserves to play week in week out now!

New Kid on the Block

Connor Mahoney has so far been a big figure in Blackburns seaon so far, but who exactly is he?

Connor Mahoney joined Blackburn in December 2013, joining from Accrington Stanley. He only joined Rovers for 30K, which seems so little for the amount of quality he has. After joining he made an immediate impression and was given squad number 31 for the first team. Mahoney made his competitive debut for the club in January 2014, coming on as a sub against Manchester City in the FA Cup. In February 2014 he signed a professional contract with the club, keeping him there until July 2018.

What's for sure is that if Mahoney keeps developing how he is Blackburn will have a tough time keeping big clubs away from him!

The Truth Comes Out Over Former Boss Sacking

What did cause Bowyer's Sacking?

Back in July when Former Blackburn boss Gary Bowyer was sacked know one knew why, it was all a bit confusing. Was it an argument with the chairman, did he not like the club or was it, like many other people said, a fight with the team captain Grant Hanley?

In a press conference with Managing Director Derek Shaw the truth has come out today over Gary Bowyers sacking. In front of hundreds of cameras and journalists Shaw admitted that Bowyer did have a fight, or in his words "strong dispute", with team captain Grant Hanley. The news didn't come as a surprise as the day Bowyer was sacked a couple of players tweeted about it.

If the news that's emerged today is true, its almost certain Gary Bowyer won't be managing again any time soon.

September Update - Unbeaten!

Blackburn 1 - 1 Wigan
Rhodes 47'

This was an even game if you were going by the score or possession but if you were going by shots we would have won with our whopping 31 compared to there 3! Although the game ended in a draw I saw a lot of positives from the team and the changes I made from this game have come good, which your about to see!

Blackburn 2 - 1 Derby
Rhodes 27', 39'

This game got off to a terrible start with us conceding to Darren Bent in the fifth minute. Although we went behind early on, two goals in the later stages of the first half by Jordan Rhodes gave us the win and the three points.

Fulham 1 - 1 Blackburn
Rhodes 52'

Another really even game, if anything they should have won. Jordan Rhodes gave us the lead in the 52nd minuted and then in the 65th minute wonderkid Patrick Roberts equalized. Fulham could have won the game in the 88th minute when a penalty was awarded but McCormack failed to convert it.

Blackburn 4 - 1 Watford
Rhodes 11' (pen), 15', 68'
O'Sullivan 27'

Only 3 days after the Fulham game we face the league leaders Watford at home, and what a game it was! We got off to a flyer 11 minutes in when Jordan Rhodes made it 1-0. He then quickley added his second and doubles the scoreline within 15 minutes. Youngster John O'Sullivan, in for the injured Craig Conway, scored his first goal for Blackburn, in the 27th minute, making the scoreline 3-0. Matej Vydra got one back a minute after half time, but that would only prove to be a consolation goal as Rhodes completed the scoreline and completed his hat-trick in the 68th minute.

Rotherham 0 - 3 Blackburn
Rhodes 1', 30' (pen), 70'

Next we faced Rotherham at New York Stadium, we were unbeaten in four and our moral was high. We got off to a flyer with Jordan Rhodes getting yet another goal, this time straight from kick-off. In the 30th minute we were awarded a penalty when Fraizer Richardson did a two-footed tackle on Connor Mahoney, Richardon was then sent-off and Rhodes converted the following penalty. To cap things off Rhodes completed his hat-trick in the 70th minute to make the scoreline 3-0.

September Player of the Month

Septembers Player of the Month award goes to Jordan Rhodes. Jordan has been on an impressive run of form, scoring 10 goals in 5 games this month. He's also scored 2 hat-tricks this month and provided the assist to John O'Sullivan's goal against Watford.

Rhodes: Life's Never Been Better

Life's never been better according to Jordan Rhodes

In a recent press conference with Blackburn's main man Jordan Rhodes he admitted that his life has never been better and he's really enjoying playing for club and country.

Two seasons ago, back in 2012, Jordan Rhodes joined Blackburn from Huddersfield for around 8 million, which many people thought was too much. Now two full seasons later people are thinking otherwise. Since joining Blackburn Rhodes he's made a total of 99 appearances, scoring 64 goals, that makes his goals per game ratio equivelent to a world class striker.

More recently, during September Rhodes score 10 goals in 5 games, averaging 2 goals every game, he even managed to bag himself two hat-tricks.

Jordan Rhodes will have to be at his best if Blackburn want to get promoted

In an interview after the Rotherham match, in which he scored a hat-trick, he was asked how moral was in the team and how its boosted them with the recent positive results. Rhodes responded with "The team are really happy at the moment and feel like they could take anyone on! As for me, life's never been better, I'm scoring and the team's winning. What's not to like!"

If Rhodes and the rest of the team keep performing how they did throughout September you have to make them a favourite to achieve promotion.

October Update - Another Unbeaten Month

Blackburn 3 - 1 Huddersfield
Rhodes 39', 59', 86'

This was a really good game for all Blackburn supporters as we won comfortably. The main reason I think we won was because Conor Coady, of Huddersfield, slid in from behind on Rhodes in the 9th minute, resulting in him being sent off. Jordan Rhodes got his third hat-trick of the season in this game.

Ipswich 0 - 0 Blackburn

This game was the most boring game I have ever seen on Football Manager, just one highlight in the whole game despite us having 15 shots.

Blackburn 2 - 2 Birmingham
Gestede 3'
Conway 66'

I was really frustrated when this game ended, I felt we should have won. Exactly two minutes after each goal Birmingham equalized, much to my annoyance. We had 70% possession and 20 shots compared to there 4, so we definitely should have won.

Nottm Forest 1 - 1 Blackburn
Lowe 6'

This was a really eventful game, both teams attacked straight from the off and both teams had a player sent off. Forest scored straight from kick-off, through Andy Reid so I thought it was going to be one of them games when nothing goes right. In the next highlight, 6 minutes in, Jason Lowe score a tremendous long shot from about 35 yards out, I don't think the goal keeper was expecting it. In the 48th minute David Vaughan got sent off for Nottm Forest, so I thought we might have a chance. But them stupidly Tom Cairney got sent off in the 65th minute.

October Player of the Month

October's Player of the Month award goes to Jason Lowe. With his phenomenal goal and four assists it's hard not to give it to him. He's been true quality and I can see him being the future club captain!
