Fulham have today announced that their Chief Scout,
Kit Symons, has filled the vacant role as manager. Symons has replaced the outgoing Felix Magath, who has been relieved of his duties after a disappointing end to the Premier League campaign, with Fulham finishing in 19th place, hence dropping a division to the NPower Championship.
Christopher Jeremiah "Kit" Symons was born in Basingstoke on the 18th of March 1971. Usually deployed as a centre back, he was also capable of playing centre midfield. He began his career at Portmsouth, where he went on to make a 160 appearances for Pompy, scoring 10 goals in the process. He then moved on to Manchester City where he made a 124 appearances, scoring 4 goals.
Fulham bought the towering 6ft2 centre back from Manchester City where he went on to make a 102 appearances, eventually moving to Crystal Palace where he retired. Though born in England, Kit's father was born in Cardiff, so he was eligible to play for Wales, which he eventually did, where he made his first appearance in 1992 against Ireland. He had 36 caps to his name, scoring twice.
Although he has never managed a club, Kit Symons is no stranger to Fulham. Since he was brought in as a player, he always stated he loved the club and was a fans favourite. In 2012, Kit was appointed as Chief Scout. Kit's wife says today is a proud day for the whole family, with Kit taking his dream job as Fulham boss. It is said that Kit was offered 20,000 pound per week, but he said money wasn't an issue as he would have taken the job at a heartbeat.
