Rodgers attended a Press Conference to announce his departure. When asked about his feelings towards the Liverpool team, he replied "The character shown during my time here by the team was truly magnificent, and there are some wonderful technicians here too - young Phil Coutinho and Joe Allen really showed that throughout last season. Liverpool football club will stay in my heart for some time."
He was also asked about the transfer of the ex-Liverpool star Luis Suarez to Barcelona, he said "The club will definitely struggle with the absence of Luis. He was integral for the side last season but I believe the new transfers can fill the void he will leave. My focus now though is on my season ahead with Arsenal."

Interest is thought to be high in the open managerial role at Liverpool now, with ex-Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez looking the most likely candidate to take the job, as well as Jürgen Klopp of Dortmund and surprisingly David Moyes, who is struggling to find a club after his short spell at rivals Manchester Unted. All three managers have actively expressed their interest in managing such a reputable club, however nothing has yet been confirmed. Other candidates thought to be interested in the role are: Unai Emery, Julen Lopetegui and Marco Silva
