Magath Out, Van Der Sar In!

Fulham appoint Edwin Van Der Sar as manager

Fulham have confirmed that Felix Magath has left the club following their relegation from the top flight. Magath had been in charge since Valentines day 2014, but had been relieved of his job after just 12 games, with Fulham relegated. It had been a bad season all around for the London based club, with Martin Jol and Rene Meulensteen both sacked, and Magath unable to keep them in the league.

His replacement has been seen as a surprise as former player Edwin Van Der Sar has been appointed as his replacement. Van Der Sar, 44, played for Fulham between 2001 and 2005 before leaving the club for Manchester United on 10 June 2005. He made 127 appearances for the club, and it was his performances for the club that convinced Sir Alex Ferguson to take him to Machester, and he became known as one of the best goalkeepers of all time when at United.

Van Der Sar talked to bbc sport and said "I am very happy to be returning to the club that helped me make my name in England and to enter management as well. I am very happy to get started and am ready to bring this awesome club back into the premier league."

Fulham were relegated last season having been in the premier league since the 2001-02 season, some 13 seasons. Can Van Der Sar be the man to bring Fulham back up to the premier league?
Legend for Fulham takes over :P

@Jer: Cheers for the comment

Fulham have today announced four new signings as they look to get straight back into the premier league.

Fulham's first signing was James Wilson on loan from Manchester United. The young striker started a few games at the end of last season when Ryan Giggs was in charge, and is expected to be a huge talent for both club and country in the future. Having already scored twice in pre-season, he looks set to have a stand out season.

A shock transfer was made by Edwin Van Der Sar by bringing in Teemu Taino for a fee of...£725. No kidding. The former Tottenham, Sunderland and Birmingham midfielder left england for Ajax in 2010/11 season, and returns after spells at New York and HJK in the finnish premier league. Tanio adds experience to a young fulham side, and is expected to still have a role in this team.

Francis Coquelin has stated that he is so happy that his Arsenal "nightmare" was over. He said he was much better than Arsenal thought, and was dissapointed to be always heading out on loan. Edwin Van Der Sar picked up the frenchman for a fee of £1.5 million, saying that he was one for the future and also added an edge now. However, some people, like former West Brom striker Nicolas Anelka and current arsenal man Lukas Podolski, feel that Fulham overpaid for the midfielder.

The last signing is Ben Amos. The former Manchester United player departs for £425 k, having played just once for the old trafford side. Amos spent most of his time on loan with clubs such as Peterborough, Molde, Oldham, Hull and most recently Carlisle. Former Manchester United keeper Edwin Van Der Sar has worked with Amos in the past, and says that he has a point to prove after being left out of Old Trafford for so long. Watch this space.
