I'd certainly bank on Menez being one of your wingers. Often one of the best performers for Milan last season. Could definitely do with another.
Both Menez and Bonaventura can play on the wings. I believe Honda can do that too.

Youngster Mauri and Donnarumma promoted to senior squad by Mihajlović

Promising youngsters José Mauri and Gianluigi Donnarumma have been fast-tracked to A.C. Milan's first team squad after new boss Siniša Mihajlović decided they were good enough to play with the team's more senior players.

Mauri, 19, joined us from Parma this summer after their unfortunate bankruptcy and ultimate relegation to Serie D.

Born in Argentina, the central midfielder has featured for the Italian national side at U17 level, and was called up by U21 boss Luigi Di Biagio earlier this year but was an unused substitute.

Eligible to play for Italy through one of his grandparents, Mauri notched up a total of 35 league appearances for I Crociati before making the move to the San Siro for around £4m this summer.

He lists Milan legend Gennaro Gattuso and Barcelona player Javier Mascherano amongst his inspirations and will battle fellow newcomer Andrea Bertolacci for a spot in the first team.

Meanwhile 16-year-old goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma has also made the step up to the senior squad and will serve as first choice goalkeeper Diego López's understudy.

This news comes after long-serving goalkeeper Christian Abbiati broke his finger in the 1-1 draw with our youth side yesterday.

Abbiati was the only other senior goalkeeper after López and his presence will be greatly missed, but young Donnarumma looks to have a bright future in the game.

Gianluigi joined our youth setup aged 14 and lists Italian hero Gianluigi Buffon as his number one idol.

Flávio signs for i Rossoneri before returning to native Brazil on loan

19-year-old midfielder Flávio has completed his 'dream move' to Europe this week, after he signed for Siniša Mihajlović's A.C. Milan side for a fee of £1.1m.

The central midfielder - full name Flávio Medeiros da Silva - only recently made his way onto the scene in his native Brazil, playing nine games so far this season for recently relegated second division side Vitória, but club scout Serginho recommended the youngster to his Serbian boss and negotiations were started.

Director of Football at the club Rocco Maiorino noted that the player was incredibly keen to put pen to paper on the deal which sees him stay at the San Siro for four years.

"Flávio is an exciting player. I think the fans will like him a lot. He has that passion, that desire to wear the shirt and he really wants to fight his way into the team when he gets here."

The youngster, who has been compared to former Vitória, Internacional and Brazil midfielder Mário Sérgio, has been sent back on loan to his former club as part of the transfer, and he will not join up with his new Milan team-mates until New Year's Eve this year, shortly after the Brazilian season finishes.

"I am very happy to sign for Milan. They are one of Europe's biggest teams, and this really is a dream move for me. I think I will learn a lot here and I hope to become a player who the fans cheer in the San Siro."

Milan fans concerned after club links with Seattle

Infamous former Italian prime minister and A.C. Milan chairman Silvio Berlusconi has announced that the club has linked itself with Major League Soccer side Seattle Sounders in a bid to bring in a new source of income through merchandising in the States.

However, the decision has been met with hostility by some Milan fans who claim that the club is too focused on commercializing rather than delivering on the pitch where it matters.

Supporter spokesman Roberto Mantolini has released the following statement on behalf of the fans:

"The fans of this club are demanding a focus on the team. They understand the importance of a well-run club but after some disappointing campaigns in recent years it is imperative that the club return to winning ways.

Siniša Mihajlović has the full backing of the fans and they are excited about his future with the club, but feel that Mr. Berlusconi needs to show more of an interest in the team rather than the money that the club and ultimately himself is making."

This link with Seattle will see the two sides contest a friendly match each year starting in 2016, while Milan's presence in America will likely boost merchandising sales. Seattle will receive an annual fee of £184k during the partnership.
Great set of updates here mate, I love AC Milan and bought myself this seasons shirt, hopefully a cracking story :D

Injured goalkeeper Abbiati to be honoured by Milan in testimonial match

A.C. Milan's long serving goalkeeper Christian Abbiati is to be honoured by the club in a testimonial match which will be played at the San Siro against a strong opposition in the shape of Spanish side Atlético Madrid.

The 38-year-old had a one year loan spell at The Vicente Calderón between 2007 and 2008, but the four-time Italy international is almost certain to miss the game through injury after breaking his finger in a warm-up match against the club's youth team.

Since his arrival from Monza in 1998 the experienced goalkeeper has gone on to make a total of 280 league appearances for his Milan team and has also had a loan spell with Serie A giants Juventus.

Diego Simeone and Siniša Mihajlović are both expected to play strong teams out of respect for Abbiati but Milan will be without first team winger Jérémy Ménez who could be sidelined for another two months after complications following surgery on his back.

The game will be played at 15:00 on Saturday afternoon, with BT Sport 2 coverage beginning at 14:30.

Nice preseason, very solid win vs Atletico. Keep up the good work.

Abbiati gutted not to play but 'everything was perfect'

Milan goalkeeper Christian Abbiati may have been forced to watch his own testimonial from the San Siro stands but the Italian is happy that everything went to plan other than that.

The 38-year-old, who has been with A.C. Milan since 1998 had broken his finger in the club's 1-1 draw with their U20 side at the start of pre-season and was forced out for around five weeks.

There was speculation that the four-time Italy international would be fit enough to be in line to start against Atlético Madrid who he had a one year loan spell with earlier in his career but club doctors warned both the player and his manager Siniša Mihajlović against including him in the team.

Just over 36,000 fans turned out to the San Siro to honour Abbiati who walked a lap of honour after Milan's 2-0 win to a standing ovation.

Mihajlović's side started the match very brightly and Japanese midfielder Keisuke Honda gave them the lead after just nine minutes after controlling Luca Antonelli's chipped ball just inside the area and hammering it past Miguel Ángel Moyà.

It may have only been a friendly but both teams had very strong teams on show and Atlético's side was considerably weakened when Spanish midfielder Koke hacked the creator of the goal Antonelli down with two feet on the stroke of half time. The tackle was unintentional as Koke had not seen the defender coming but Antonelli muscled himself in front of the Atlético man and felt the effects of the tackle.

Summer acquisition Carlos Bacca, who has had experience playing against Atlético having moved to the San Siro from Spanish side Sevilla, finished the game off late on after converting Mario Balotelli's cross with his head.

Abbiati spoke to reporters after the game and was very positive despite watching from the stands.

"Of course I am disappointed not to play. A lot of fans here came to honour me which is unbelievable but I was disappointed I couldn't play, definitely. It would have been a risk to my finger especially against this Madrid team but I would have loved to start.

Other than missing out on the action, everything was perfect. A win in our last friendly against very good opposition, Diego did a good job in goal to get the clean sheet. We played well and I'm very happy that we got the win for the supporters who have been fantastic ever since I came here in 1998."
Solid preseason campaign. Poor Abbiati. Imagine missing your own testimonial.
Pre-season out of the way now, time to make a push in competitive fixtures!
Shame for him to miss his own testimonial, oh well. Brilliant preseason there mate!
