The 2014-15 season was a decent one in the eyes of the Manchester United fans. It was definitely better than torrid season before hand which had the glorious club finish seventh. After David Moyes came the big Louis van Gaal. The Dutchman guided United to a steady fourth place finish, setting up the club for their return in the European scene.

£90 million pounds has been spent in the summer so far, bringing in the likes of the promising golden boy Memphis and the highly experienced character of Bastian Schweinsteiger. As well as those names came Matteo Darmian from Torino, Morgan Schneiderlin from Southampton and the big expensive name of Anthony Martial. The 19 year old Frenchman coming in at such a huge fee despite not being a proven talent in front of many peoples eyes.

However LVG has began to build on his empire and his created stability. The ambition and desire to return to the top has been on the minds of the United fans since the day of Sir Alex Ferguson's departure. Would glory return back into their hands, or would they end up being the next Liverpool who haven't lifted the top flight title for years and years on.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang: Man Utd sign Dortmund striker for £28m

Manchester United have signed forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Borussia Dortmund on a five-year deal for a fee around £28m.

Aubamayeng netted 25 goals from 46 appearances for Dortmund last season, who's former boss Jurgen Klopp has moved to Liverpool.

Man United reportedly cleared off interest from clubs such as Roma, Europa League winners Sevilla, and Liverpool, where Klopp wanted to be reunited with the striker.

Aubameyang rejected contract talks from Dortmund and new boss Thomas Tuchel, who were adamant to tie the Gabonese international down to a five-year contract. The club finished seventh, being able to gain a Europa League third-round qualifying spot. One of the reasons being cited by Aubamayeng's agent being that the forward wanted to play Champions League football this season.

United finished fourth last season, and now Aubamayeng will join the striking department alongside the new arrival of teenager Anthony Martial.

Louis van Gaal has said "I am delighted to welcome Pierre to our club. He is a talented prolific and pacey forward who has all the attributes and ability to play in the Premier League. As I've said with A Anthony, we must give Pierre time to adjust to his new environment and the rhythm and style of the Premier League.''

Sadio Mane: Man Utd sign £30m Southampton attacker

Manchester United have signed Southampton attacker Sadio Mane for £30m.

United reportedly faced competition to land the Southampton star from clubs such as their rival Manchester City and Valencia CF, as well as interest from German giants Bayern Munuch.

Mane during his 15 month spell at The Saints highly impressed, scoring 10 goals in 32 appearances as well netting the fastest ever hat-trick in the Premier League's history, in 2 minutes 56 seconds against Aston Villa.

His former manager Ronald Koeman insisted before hand that Mane wouldn't be sold, as well as stating no more Southampton players would leave the club this summer. Morgan Schneiderlin also left The Saints to join the United set-up.

Southampton in recent times have been known for losing a crop of important first team players to bigger clubs in England, including the likes of Luke Shaw and Adam Lallana who joined Man United and Liverpool respectively. Victor Wanayama has also been subject of interest from Tottenham, but Ronald Koeman had the same to stay on the Kenyan international.

Mane's contract at The Saints was set to expire in 2018, but the club were looking to extend his contract as soon as possible. However the African resisted temptation of a contract extension with the club.

The attacker was set to join The Saints in their bid for Europa League qualification, however he's now able to join United in their bid to qualify for the Champions League with their two legged match against CSKA Moscow.

He told the Manchester United website "I'm very pleased to be at Manchester United, a club with so much history. I've come here to win trophies and reach the very best level there is."

Manager's Thoughts

The first month of the football calendar has been decent. The first of the game saw us at one point take the lead at the Bridge however defensively we crumbled and the controversial sending off of Daley Blind didn't help either. I thought we could've done much better against Sunderland. We allowed them to get in the game somehow and it ultimately cost us with a Johnson equalise. However in the game against Southampton we proved that we're a strong character against a tough opponent. Players like Depay and Schneiderlin were able to find comfort and flourished against the Saints.

The first leg of the Champions League against CSKA highly impressed me, we showed strength, and battle to overcome Moscow in a difficult ground. The performance of Aubamayeng was marvellous and he is certainly starting to show as a vital character in the team. The return leg at home on the other hand was standard. I felt like the team didn't want it as much as CSKA, who were obviously three nil down before hand. CSKA punished us with more shots on target and chances, but were only able to gain a goal. Looking ahead our aim in the Champions League is to advance past the group stages and reach towards the quarter finals stage. Of course I would be delighted with a semi-final or even a final spot, who wouldn't be! But at this stage it seems unlikely, but as the months go on a clearer picture will be painted on what the future holds for us.

The standout player of this month has been Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. He's had a good start to life at United, picking up four goals in five games. The main aim and objective for him is to carry on his form and stay persistent this season. Pierre can become the star of this team.
