AC Milan - Returning to Greatness

Hopefully a longer save than the Celtic one

AC Milan, a club with great history. Now, they relish in mid-table. It's my job to come in and turn this around. It's my job to make this team great once more.

The Manager

Never did I think this would be the case. A young Scottish manager taking charge of a former European great. I didn't expect it. I've only ever watched the team on the telly, never been to Italy, but here I am, being unveiled as the new manager of the Rossoneri. I obviously look nervous as questions are flung at me, but I'm not here to answer questions. I don't know the language, so turned down a press conference. I simply raise my arm and say "Forza Milan!". I get an eruption of cheers as I leave the stage. But I know I'm bricking it, and I'm out my depth.

The Tactic
I have met with the team. They seem to be supportive of me. I think they pity me more than anything. If managers with experience like Sinisa Mijhalovic and Clarence Sedoorf can't do it, what would make them think the Scottish boy can? I told them my main idea for the tactic, and that they will be focusing pretty hard on it over the coming days. We'll see how things go. I may make another tactic for the boys to play with, but we'll see how it goes.

I chose this formation as A.C Milan need to solidify. There is something that leads to them not finishing in the top half of the table, and I've singled out the defence. Five at the back may seem like a very cliché way to sort things out, but I have confidence that these lads can make the most of it, and ensure that we can maintain a run of form throughout the season.

I chose to go with two central midfielders as it leaves us with people to cover the defence, but also to spread the play to the wings and the striker. We'll see how this works, but the midfield partnership could be one where there is a lot of rotation.

Two wingers. Honda and Bonaventura. Both with exceptional crossing on them, could be better, but it will do. I may look to strengthen this position, we aren't graced with depth here, but I have to keep squad morality in mind, as any new signing could disrupt the harmony of the squad.

The lone striker. Carlos Bacca. I hope that he can fire in the goals that can lead us back to the top of the table. With Mario Balotelli as back up, I think the striker position is fine, which may mean that I move on Luiz Adriano. I'll have to see about that one. I'm quietly confident about my tactic here, and I can't wait to see the boys get used to it.

My Objectives
I've just finished a meeting with the board. I was given my choices of what I think we can achieve. I've gone low. I've said Europa League. I think that raising the bar may lead the players to thinking I have too much confidence in them. If we can qualify for Champions League, great. I'd love that to happen, but for now, it's the Europa League. I don't want to lose this job, because I've over-estimated the ability of the team. We'll see how this goes. The board allow me 6 million. I'm happy with that. Let the challenge really begin.

Good luck mate! As a Liverpool fan its a shame to have seen both clubs fall so far from grace. The days of Istanbul 05 and the 2007 Champions League Final seem a long time ago! Hopefully you can restore some success to Milan.

A.C Milan sign two!

I stood infront of the flashing cameras, the men to the left and right of me holding up A.C Milan shirts. The two men were Nemanja Maksimovic and Fabian Castillo. One moving from FC Astana, the other from FC Dallas. In complete honesty, I would have preferred a bigger budget, but signing these two makes me a little happier.
