Toulouse Trio Included In Team Of The Year

http://s105.photobucket.com/user/chrisgriffin89/media/toulouse-oscar-trejo_zpswqqm1p2v.jpg.html
Three Toulouse players have been named in the Ligue 1 Team of the Year

• Predrag Rajkovic, Oscar Trejo and Wissam Ben Yedder earned selection from Toulouse
• Despite finishing sixth this season, Paris Saint-Germain had six players named in the side
• The remaining two players in the side were Bryan Dabo and Hatem Ben Arfa

The Ligue 1 Team of the Year has been announced, it features three Toulouse players in the line-up after an impressive season in which they won the Ligue 1 title for the first time in the history of the club.

Performing incredibly during the season, Wissam Ben Yedder scored 34 goals in 35 games to see him become the leading goal scorer in Ligue 1 this season. Ben Yedder has had interest in his services from a number of clubs around Europe in the past two seasons but recently signed a contract which will see him earn £61,000 per week until 2021.

Oscar Trejo was also a must selection for the Ligue 1 Team of the Year, Trejo continued his form from last season in which he was awarded the Player of the Season for Toulouse. Trejo was the main playmaker for Toulouse during the season, contributing with 11 goals and 16 assists in 48 games.

The selection of Toulouse goalkeeper Predrag Rajkovic was the biggest surprise in the Ligue 1 Team of the Year. Rajkovic performed terrifically all season but many believed that Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu should have been selected. Despite finishing sixth, Sirigu and the Paris Saint-Germain defence managed to conceded the least amount of goals in Ligue 1 during the season.

Paris Saint-Germain still have the most players in the Ligue 1 Team of the Year with David Luiz, Thiago Silva, Layvin Kurzawa, Marco Verratti, Angel Di Maria and Raheem Sterling all making the side. Despite their poor performance this season, Paris Saint-Germain will still remain title favours heading into next season.

The two other players making the side were Bryan Dabo from Montpellier HSC and Hatem Ben Arfa from OGC Nice who both performed terrifically over the course of the season.
Congratulations to the trio

Rightfully so, great season for you lot and it would have been a surprise to not see a name feature.
1
Great season for the club and well done to that trio! Going to be a big part of Toulouse's fortunes next season!
1
Much deserved for your players, hopefully they can perform just as valiantly in the future!

Just getting caught up here ... very nice work!

Ben Yedder Wins Golden Shoe Award

http://s105.photobucket.com/user/chrisgriffin89/media/tumblr_m920nbh3fU1rwkiqio1_1280_zpsbuzhlmqz.jpg.html
Ben Yedder has been the key component in the achievements of Toulouse this season

• Ben Yedder is the first Frenchman since Therry Henry to win the European Golden Shoe
• The 26-year-old scored 34 goals in 35 games during the Ligue 1 season
• Toulouse have extended the contract of Ben Yedder, seeing him at the club until 2021

After finishing the season as the top goal scorer in Ligue 1 and being named in the Ligue 1 Team of the Year, Wissam Ben Yedder has now been named as the winner of the European Golden Shoe for being the leading goal scorer in league matches from the top division of every European national league.

Ben Yedder scored 34 goals in 35 games during the Ligue 1 season and is the first Frenchman to win the award since Thierry Henry shared the award with Diego Forlan in the 2004-05 season. There has been interest in the services of Ben Yedder from a number of clubs around Europe but he appears to be happy to stay at Toulouse after recently signing a new contract.

“Every single night since I was a little boy I would go to bed and dream of scoring goals and lifting trophies and I have realised all those dreams this season.” said Wissam Ben Yedder. “I could not be prouder in everything we have achieved over the past season.” he added.

“Anyone who watched us play this season knows how valuable Wissam Ben Yedder is to our side.” said Toulouse manager Dominique Arribage. “Wissam is already a club icon and I truly believe he may just go on to become the greatest player ever to wear the Toulouse jersey.” he added.

Ben Yedder will now look ahead to the new season as he will look to help his club defend the Ligue 1 title while competing in the UEFA Champions League for the first time in his career.
Awesome achievement there
1
Great achievement, hope he continues to bang in the goals next season! Just a shame he hasnt joined Marseille yet ;)
1
34 goals in one league campaign is sensational, hopefully he can produce that again!
1
What a player he seems!

The man is a gem, what a player!

34 in 35! That's quite the strike rate! :O
Great season again from Ben Yedder, good luck keeping hold of him

Toulouse exceeded all expectations of them this season by winning the Ligue 1 this season. The victory will see them participate in the UEFA Champions League next season, going straight through to the group stage. The form displayed by Toulouse at the start of the season, winning their first eight games was key to their successful title challenge.

Despite winning the competition, Toulouse are still only predicted to finish fourth this coming season by French media outlet L’Equipe. After their participation in the UEFA Europa League, Toulouse should be suitably prepared for the heavy schedule which awaits them next season.

Toulouse went on an incredible run in the UEFA Europa League, despite pundits believing that the French club would not make it out of the group stage. After performing consistently and finishing second in Group L behind Sevilla, Toulouse defeated Wolfsburg and Dynamo Kyiv before falling to Italian side A.C. Milan on away goals.

After a terrific performance in the French Cup last year, Toulouse found themselves eliminated in their first fixture of the French Cup, going down on penalties against Ligue 2 side Chamois Niortais FC.

Toulouse performed well in the Coupe de la Ligue, defeating LOSC Lille and rivals Montpellier HSC before being eliminated from the competition in a 1-0 semi final loss to Stade Rennais FC. Heading into next season, Toulouse manager Dominique Arribage will be hoping to be more successful in the Coupe de la Ligue next season as it is the only trophy in French football he has yet to claim.

Proving to be Paris Saint-Germain’s bogey side once again, Toulouse claimed the French Champions Trophy at the start of the season. After both sides were unable to score during both regular time and extra time, the match went to penalties where Toulouse would go on to win the match after some vital saves from Predrag Rajkovic.

For the second year in a row, Oscar Trejo has been named the Player Of The Season for Toulouse. Trejo managed to take his game to an even higher level than last season and became the main link between the players in attack throughout the season, contributing with 11 goals and 16 assists across all competitions during the season.

Trejo has been at Toulouse since the 2013/14 season and is expected to be at the club for some time as during the season he extended his contract to see him at the club until 2021.

Missing out on the Player of the Season award for the second season in a row, Wissam Ben Yedder lifted his game to an even higher level than last year and went on to become the leading goal scorer in Ligue 1 as well as claiming the European Golden Shoe.

In all competitions, Ben Yedder scored 40 goals in 51 games for Toulouse and recently put any doubt about his future to rest by signing a new contract which will see him at the club until 2021.

Continuing his good form from last season, Gabriel Obertan finished the season with seventeen assists while also scoring ten goals. The 28-year-old winger has had a resurgence since returning to Ligue 1 after lacklustre performances in the English Premier League with Newcastle United and Manchester United.

On loan from Chelsea, Jeremie Boga spent last season on loan at Stade Rennais FC where he performed terrifically leading to Toulouse signing him on loan from Chelsea this season.

Boga continued to perform at a high standard for Toulouse, covering both sides of the field when Cristian Pavon or Gabriel Obertan was unavailable and contributing with three goals and six assists throughout the year.

Winning the award for the second year in a row, Cristian Pavon struggled for form at the start of the season but became one of the key players as Toulouse looked to seal the Ligue 1 title towards the end of the season.

Pavon did not perform as well as he did the previous season but still provided impact and showed improvements in some areas of his game. Going into the new season, Toulouse will have to fight off interest from Bayern Munich who have recently displayed interest in adding the 21-year-old to their squad.
