Foulquier Leaves Granada For Toulouse

http://s105.photobucket.com/user/chrisgriffin89/media/Allan-Nyom-Granada_zpsx2hvegjk.jpg.html
Dimitri Foulquier is set to return to Ligue 1 football after signing with Toulouse

• Foulquier is set to join Toulouse for a transfer fee of €2.5 million
• The 24-year-old arrives at Toulouse following four seasons with Granada in La Liga
• The Frenchman is looking to find consistency after struggling with poor form and injuries

After facing some tough times in La Liga playing for Granada, French fullback Dimitri Foulquier is set to move to Toulouse for a transfer fee of €2.5 million. The 24-year-old will earn €30,500 per week during his time at Toulouse, agreeing to a contract which will see him at the club until 2020.

During his time in Spain, Foulquier struggled with injuries and form as Granada fought to avoid relegation each season. Despite this, Toulouse managed Dominique Arribage believes that Foulquier still has unrealised potential. “Players who experience injuries early in their career either become stagnant in regards to their football ability or they develop later in their career once they find some consistent time on the pitch, I truly believe Dimitri will be the latter.” he said.

“I am glad Dominique has shown faith in my abilities and am determined to show that he has made the right decision.” said Foulquier. “Toulouse have come so far as a club in the past few years and I hope that I can help them not only maintain their current level of performance but also assist them in succeeding as they take on new challenges.” he added.

The arrival of Dimitri Foulquier is set to put pressure on Pavle Ninkov as to who will be the starting right back heading into the season. Ninkov won the position when Benfica signed Jean-Daniel Akpa-Akpro and has performed tremendously since, becoming a favourite amongst the fans.

Arribage Clears Out Toulouse Squad

http://s105.photobucket.com/user/chrisgriffin89/media/2688a_zpsvlj4dqdu.jpg.html
Despite a successful season, Arribage has not been afraid to make changes to his squad

• Eight first team squad players have been sold to other clubs by Toulouse
• Etienne Didot and Gabriel Obertan are considered the biggest departures
• The squad travels to Asia for the pre-season, facing sides from South Korea and China

Coming off a successful season in which Toulouse claimed the Ligue 1 title, over the past few week Toulouse has seen eight players who featured in the first team squad leave the club. Outside of the first team squad, one reserve player and one youth player also departed for other clubs with eleven players being released on a free transfer.

Three players who featured heavily for Toulouse last season in Etienne Didot, Gabriel Obertan and Pavle Ninkov have all been transferred. Toulouse vice-captain Etienne Didot and Pavle Ninkov have secured moves to Israel and Denmark respectively as their careers begin to wind down. Gabriel Obertan, who saw a return to form with Toulouse after struggling in England has moved to Ligue 1 side Stade Rennais for €8 million, seeing Toulouse make a profit of €6.8 million on the transfer.

Outside of the players that featured heavily during the 2016-17 campaign, a further five players from the first team squad have left Toulouse. Kevin-Prince Boateng and Tonga Doumbia who both featured for Toulouse during the season left the club for a combined €12 million. The other players to leave Toulouse were Ali Ahamada who signed to play with PAOK in the Greek Superleague, Issiaga Sylia who is expected to line up against Toulouse in the Champions Trophy for AS Saint-Etienne and Aleksander Pesic who moved to recently promoted Ligue 1 side US Orleans.

“Despite winning the title last year, our squad was not as strong as some of the others in Ligue 1 so some tough decisions had to be made.” said Toulouse manager Dominic Arribage. “This may affect the club in the short-term but the injection of youth will see the club much better off in the long-term.” he added.

After all the recent activity, Toulouse will be looking for their squad to gel as they travel to Asia to take on teams from South Korea and China during the pre-season. The first test for the new squad upon their return from Asia will be the annual Champions Trophy fixture in which Toulouse are set to face the French Cup winners from last season in AS-Saint-Etienne.
Bit risky moving so many first teamers on. Hopefully its a gamble that pays off for you!

I agree with Lippo sometimes these things cost you, sometimes they don't. Hopefully the latter happens.
