Toulouse have put together another solid month apart from a devastating result against Bayern Leverkusen. To start the month, Toulouse came away with 1-0 victories over Viktoria Pizen and Dijon FCO in poor performances before defeating relegation candidates US Orleans 3-1.

In the next match, Toulouse manager Dominique Arribage suffered the biggest loss in his managerial career with Bayern Leverkusen putting together a 6-1 destruction of Toulouse. To finish the month, Toulouse would put together two impressive victories in Ligue 1 over Olympique de Marseille and Stade de Reims.


William Matheus has found career best form this season and has managed to lift his game to another level this month, providing five assists during the month. The defining moment of the month for the 27-year-old Brazilian occurred this month against Stade de Reims where he contributed an incredible three assists.

Matheus has contributed eleven assists in sixteen matches so far, only two assists away from matching his tally in his previous two seasons.


Toulouse have found themselves on top of the Ligue 1 ladder, equal with Paris Saint-Germain on points but with two games in hand. AS Monaco, Olympique Lyonnais and AS Saint-Etienne sit below the top two sides and would require a good run of results to join the leading sides.

At the bottom end of the table, US Orleans and Angers SCO continue to fall behind the rest of the competition with Angers SCO still yet to win a game this season.


Despite currently sitting one point ahead of Bayern Leverkusen in Group G of the UEFA Champions League, Toulouse will go into the final set of fixtures as underdogs to advance to the next stage of the tournament.

Toulouse will be hoping for Viktoria Pizen to win their first match of the group stage against Bayern Leverkusen to assist them in qualifying, otherwise Toulouse will require a victory over Barcelona in order to progress.


Toulouse are set to play French Cup winners AS Saint-Etienne in the Coupe de la Ligue. It will be interesting to see how Toulouse manager Dominique Arribage approaches the Coupe de la Ligue considering the busy schedule of his club and that it is the only trophy in French football that he is yet to claim.

Toulouse started the month with a 2-0 victory over LOSC Lille before an incredible victory over Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League. Cristian Pavon and Wissam Ben Yedder scored at the start of each half to see their side defeated Barcelona by two goals in what is surely the greatest victory in the history of the Toulouse Football Club.

Facing AS Saint-Etienne in the Coupe de la Ligue, Toulouse came away with a tough win which was followed by another against En Avant de Guingamp. The end of the month would see Toulouse face OGC Nice twice inside a week, losing the first fixture and drawing the second with a 3-0 victory over Stade Malherbe Caen separating the two matches.


After joining Toulouse at the start of the season from A.C. Milan, M’Baye Niang has impressed throughout the season and has claimed his first Player of the Month award in December. Niang has contributed with two goals and three assists this month, bringing his season tally to nine goals and eleven assists so far.

Many fans didn’t agree with the signing of Niang to replace Gabriel Obertan who has two impressive seasons with the club before leaving to play for Stade Rennais. However, the 23-year-old has shown he has greater goal scoring ability while his ability to produce opportunities for his teammates appears to be around the same level as Obertan.


Paris Saint-Germain and Toulouse have begun to pull away from the other Ligue 1 clubs with AS Monaco and Olympique Lyonnais doing the same to the clubs below them. Paris Saint-Germain are believed to hold the advantage over Toulouse however as they are not competition in a European competition this season.

US Orleans and Angers SCO have fallen deeper into relegation trouble at the bottom end of the table with no clear contender for the other space in the relegation zone emerging as a majority of clubs are grouped together.


An incredible victory over Barcelona saw Toulouse send Barcelona to play in the UEFA Europa League while they managed to top Group G. In the next stage of the competition, Toulouse are set to face Ajax with the Dutch side qualifying comfortably just one point below Chelsea in Group D.


In their first match of the French Cup, Toulouse have drawn French CFA 2 side SO Chatellerault with the game set to take place Stade de la Montee Rouge.


After defeating AS Saint-Etienne in their first match of the Coupe de la Ligue, Toulouse have drawn Paris Saint-Germain in the quarter-finals. Paris Saint-Germain have won the Coupe de la Ligue six times with their last victory in the tournament coming in 2016.
