Toulouse have put together another solid month apart from a devastating result against Bayern Leverkusen. To start the month, Toulouse came away with 1-0 victories over Viktoria Pizen and Dijon FCO in poor performances before defeating relegation candidates US Orleans 3-1.

In the next match, Toulouse manager Dominique Arribage suffered the biggest loss in his managerial career with Bayern Leverkusen putting together a 6-1 destruction of Toulouse. To finish the month, Toulouse would put together two impressive victories in Ligue 1 over Olympique de Marseille and Stade de Reims.

William Matheus has found career best form this season and has managed to lift his game to another level this month, providing five assists during the month. The defining moment of the month for the 27-year-old Brazilian occurred this month against Stade de Reims where he contributed an incredible three assists.

Matheus has contributed eleven assists in sixteen matches so far, only two assists away from matching his tally in his previous two seasons.

Toulouse have found themselves on top of the Ligue 1 ladder, equal with Paris Saint-Germain on points but with two games in hand. AS Monaco, Olympique Lyonnais and AS Saint-Etienne sit below the top two sides and would require a good run of results to join the leading sides.

At the bottom end of the table, US Orleans and Angers SCO continue to fall behind the rest of the competition with Angers SCO still yet to win a game this season.

Despite currently sitting one point ahead of Bayern Leverkusen in Group G of the UEFA Champions League, Toulouse will go into the final set of fixtures as underdogs to advance to the next stage of the tournament.

Toulouse will be hoping for Viktoria Pizen to win their first match of the group stage against Bayern Leverkusen to assist them in qualifying, otherwise Toulouse will require a victory over Barcelona in order to progress.

Toulouse are set to play French Cup winners AS Saint-Etienne in the Coupe de la Ligue. It will be interesting to see how Toulouse manager Dominique Arribage approaches the Coupe de la Ligue considering the busy schedule of his club and that it is the only trophy in French football that he is yet to claim.

Injury Report

Loic Bessile

Bessile has suffered another injury, pulling his hamstring during training. The left back is expected to be out for two weeks. His position in the first team squad will certainly be under question at the end of the season based on his recent medical history.

A busy month awaits Toulouse in December, starting off with a Ligue 1 fixture against LOSC Lille before Barcelona arrive at Stadium Municipal in what is the final group match for Toulouse in the UEFA Champions League.

AS Saint-Etienne await Toulouse in the Coupe de la Ligue followed by an away fixture against En Avant de Guingamp. Toulouse then face OGC Nice in Ligue 1 twice inside a week with the two matches broken up by another Ligue 1 fixture against Stade Malherbe Caen. To finish the year, Toulouse will play in the French Cup with their opponent yet to be decided.
Ouch! That Leverkusen result sure puts a dampener on things! C'mon Plzen!
That last matchday in the UCL is to be a huge one for you lot, but still going strong at the top in the league.
Another good month I the league mate but that last Champions League game is going to absolutely massive!
You'll certainly need to get a result from the fixture against Barcelona in order to qualify, as I'm sure Leverkusen will be looking to pick up maximum points. On another note, you've done brilliantly to claw your way back to the top of the league, with two games in hand!

Arribage Turns Down Portugal Role

http://s105.photobucket.com/user/chrisgriffin89/media/1656295_w2_zpsabwg3hki.jpg.html
Jorge Jesus is set to take over as manager of the Portuguese national side

• Jorge Jesus has accepted the position after previously managing Sporting CP and Benfica
• Arribage turned down the role after Cristiano Ronaldo elected not to come out of retirement
• The next opportunity at a major tournament for Portugal will be Euro 2020

Jorge Jesus has been appointed manager of Portugal, taking over from Fernando Santos who was sacked for failing to secure qualifying to the 2018 World Cup. It is believed that Toulouse manager Dominique Arribage turned down the role with Portugal after failing to convince Cristiano Ronaldo to reconsider his international retirement.

Jesus was the manager of Sporting CP from 2015 to 2017 where he failed to win the Primeira Liga but saw his side finish in the top three each season. Prior to his role with Sporting CP, Jesus managed Benfica from 2009 to 2015 where his side won the Primeira Liga three times as well as finishing runner up in the UEFA Europa League twice.

“The retirement of Cristiano Ronaldo will see a new era begin for Portugal in international football and I personally believe the future is bright.” said Jesus. “Players such as Bernando Silva, Goncalo Guedes and Ruben Neves are more than capable of leading the country to glory and will form the nucleus of the side for many years to come.” he added.

Jorge Jesus and Portugal have a substantial wait for their next opportunity at a major tournament in Euro 2020 which England are set to be hosting. England are also the defending champions of the tournament after defeating Ukraine 1-0 back in 2016 when the tournament was held in France.
Shame you didnt take it mate although hopefully it means you can concentrate on Toulouse and taking them to even more success!

Managing Ronaldo would have been a terrific opportunity. Unfortunately that door is shut, but you can still go a long way with Toulouse!

Toulouse started the month with a 2-0 victory over LOSC Lille before an incredible victory over Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League. Cristian Pavon and Wissam Ben Yedder scored at the start of each half to see their side defeated Barcelona by two goals in what is surely the greatest victory in the history of the Toulouse Football Club.

Facing AS Saint-Etienne in the Coupe de la Ligue, Toulouse came away with a tough win which was followed by another against En Avant de Guingamp. The end of the month would see Toulouse face OGC Nice twice inside a week, losing the first fixture and drawing the second with a 3-0 victory over Stade Malherbe Caen separating the two matches.

After joining Toulouse at the start of the season from A.C. Milan, M’Baye Niang has impressed throughout the season and has claimed his first Player of the Month award in December. Niang has contributed with two goals and three assists this month, bringing his season tally to nine goals and eleven assists so far.

Many fans didn’t agree with the signing of Niang to replace Gabriel Obertan who has two impressive seasons with the club before leaving to play for Stade Rennais. However, the 23-year-old has shown he has greater goal scoring ability while his ability to produce opportunities for his teammates appears to be around the same level as Obertan.

Paris Saint-Germain and Toulouse have begun to pull away from the other Ligue 1 clubs with AS Monaco and Olympique Lyonnais doing the same to the clubs below them. Paris Saint-Germain are believed to hold the advantage over Toulouse however as they are not competition in a European competition this season.

US Orleans and Angers SCO have fallen deeper into relegation trouble at the bottom end of the table with no clear contender for the other space in the relegation zone emerging as a majority of clubs are grouped together.

An incredible victory over Barcelona saw Toulouse send Barcelona to play in the UEFA Europa League while they managed to top Group G. In the next stage of the competition, Toulouse are set to face Ajax with the Dutch side qualifying comfortably just one point below Chelsea in Group D.

In their first match of the French Cup, Toulouse have drawn French CFA 2 side SO Chatellerault with the game set to take place Stade de la Montee Rouge.

After defeating AS Saint-Etienne in their first match of the Coupe de la Ligue, Toulouse have drawn Paris Saint-Germain in the quarter-finals. Paris Saint-Germain have won the Coupe de la Ligue six times with their last victory in the tournament coming in 2016.

Injury Report

The Toulouse squad currently has a clean bill of health.

Toulouse start the month off with a Ligue 1 fixture against Stade Rennais who have managed to return to form since sacking manager Fernando Hierro and hiring Ernesto Valverde. In the next match, Toulouse face SO Chatellerault away from home in the French Cup.

Paris Saint-Germain awaits Toulouse in the Coupe de la Ligue Quarter Final with the fixture set to be played at Stadium Municipal. The month finishes for Toulouse with two Ligue 1 fixtures against relegation candidates FC Metz and Angers SCO before travelling to face fourth placed Olympique Lyonnais at Stade des Lumieres.

Congratulations on a magnificent win over Barcelona! Those points dropped against Nice must have been a kick in the teeth, but you're still just two points behind with a game in hand.... As for the draw against Ajax, you've faced tougher opposition and prevailed :P

Great win over Barca and looking good in the league as well
