Thomas Tuchel unveiled as new Borussia Dortmund boss

Thomas Tuchel has been officially unveiled as the new head coach of Borussia Dortmund, following his appointment as successor Jürgen Klopp’s successor, he'll be expected to challenge Bayern Munich for the Bundesliga this time around, after last season's disappointment

Tuchel’s appointment had been announced back in April following Jürgen Klopp’s announcment that he would step down at the end of the season. His decision came after a difficult season for BVB, who were bottom of the Bundesliga as recently as February before finishing in seventh, having been Bayern Munich’s closest challengers in previous seasons.

Tuchel made his name at Mainz, returning them to the Bundesliga in 2010 and guiding them to the qualifying rounds of the Europa League in 2011 and 2014, before taking a year-long sabbatical at the end of the 2013-14 season.

Tuchel has signed a three year deal at the club and will meet ip with the squad for the first time on Monday

On joining Dortmund:
"I'm really happy to be here as BVB coach. I wanted to train a top Bundesliga club, which would challenge for German honors.

"We now have to make up lost ground against the other top teams in Germany: Bayern, Leverkusen, Gladbach and Wolfsburg, "It's extremely important that we rise to the challenge making up that ground. It's about hard work, courage and tenacity. I know I can rely on this club.

"The trust from this club was an important factor in my decision to come here. It was a massive factor that Dortmund is such a massive football city.

"I'm an emotional coach and that speaks to me."

On the squad and style of play:

"There is a great squad here. Less is more in terms of players. What I want first is to form my own impressions.

"Dortmund represent an attacking and proactive type of football. We want to dominate play and I look forward to seeing it."
I hope this works out better than your previous two ;)

Pre Season

Pre Season kicked off with four matches against lower German sides, it didn't get off the perfect start as we lost 1-0 to Dresden, despite dominating, but we managed to bounce back very nicely next up against Kaislerslautern with Reus grabbing a brace, Aubemayeng and Mkhitaryan grabbed a goal apiece.

a win and a loss were to follow against Aahlen and Munster respectively, Mkhitaryan continuinghis good goal scoring form with another two, we then traveled to Greece for a clash against powerhouse Panathanaikos which we run out 2-0 winners in a match we were never really troubled in

Two home fixtures against English opposition rounded off our pre season program, first up we drew a blank against Swansea with the match finishing 0-0, we then followed that up with a 2-1 win against Manchester United thanks to those two against Mkhitaryan and Aubemayang who managed to score 8 of our 12 goals.

Europa League 3rd round qualifying draw

60 teams were drawn in the 3rd qualifying round for the Europa League, and their was a few very interesting matchups indeed, Sampdoria will be looking to progress to the next round when they face Lokomotiva, the Italian side hot favourites to progress, Croatian giants Hadjuk Split will come up against Vitesse Arnhem in the tie of the round.
elsewhere Borussia Dortmund come up against Cypriot cup winners AEK Lamakas and Brondby face Saint Ettiene
Should cruise through the first qualifier, reasonably good pre-season also!
Good luck

Bundesliga Results

Bayer Leverkusen v Borussia Dortmund The season kicked off with a hard fought 1-0 victory over Bayer Leverkusen who also have ambitions chasing down Bayern this season, Pierre Emerick Aubamayeng made it 1-0 to Dortmund on the half hour mark after an explosive counter attack left Bernd Leno all alone, Aubamayeng made no mistake slotting the ball under the Bayer Keep, it was end to end stuff but Dortmund held on to grab an important win

Borussia Dortmund v Stuttgart: Barcelona romped to victory in their first home match of the season, Captain Sven Bender got them off to the best start possible with a glancing header off a Reus, Breel Embolo would make it 2-0 on the stroke of halftime after a nice piece of footwork gave him just enough time and space to bury the ball past the Stuttgart keeper.

The second half was more of the same as Mkhitaryan and Marco Reus scored 2 in six second half minutes to make it 4-0, Timo Werner got a late consolation goal in the dying embers of the game

Werder Bremen: We rounded off the month with a hard fought 1-1 draw with Werder Bremen, Aron Johanson gave the home side an early lead with a smart finish, but Aubamayeng would equalise right on halftime after a neat one-two with Embolo left him in acres of space, the Gabon hitman made no mistake, despite their being 22 shots in total in the match, it ended 1-1

Bundesliga Table

As expected, Bayern lead the pace early after picking up 3 wins from 3 this month with wins against Hamburg, Ingolstadt and Augsburg without really breaking a sweat, Borussia Dortmund trail by two points as do fellow title chasers Schalke.
Newcomers Ingolstadt are finding life tough already after only picking up the one point during August, that coming against Darmstadt.

Europa League Qualifiers

Third Round Qualifier

Dortmund got their Europa League assault underway against Cypriot side Lamakas, Dortmund hosted the first leg and they were looking to put themselves in a very comfortable position before the away leg and they did just that thanks to an Aubamayeng double. it could and should have been more but they would settle for the 2-0 win
Thomas Tuchel sent the kids out in the away leg in Cyprus, despite dominating throughout the match, Dortmund just couldnt kill it off, Lamakas did have a fe wflash chances but Roman Burkl was never under pressure in a very hard fought 0-0 draw

Dortmund traveled to Ukraine for the first leg of this tie and came away very happy as they managed not to concede despite the tough conditions, both teams did have plenty of chances here but it ended 0-0

Dortmund are a completely different team at home in front of their passionate supporters and the Cypriot side never looked comfortable, Breel Embolo gave Dortmund the lead after a beautiful cross from Passlack, Embolo made no mistake at the far post, Aubamayeng would then put the result beyond doubt as he beat the offside trap and cooly lifted the ball over the Lamakas keeper.

Europa League Group Stage Draw

Borussia Dortmund have been given a fairly straight forward group here, Red Bull Salzburg and Panathanaikos wlll be fighting for that second spot, home form will be key for the Greek side as they are traditionally poor travelers, Sion will just be happy to be here and shouldnt really pose a threat
Solid start, I would expect you to top your group in Europa League but stranger things have happened... best of luck!
solid start to your Dortmund career. I am expecting you to overthrow Die Bayern in at least 2 years. It looks like it will not happen in real life. So at least it could happen in FM.

Good Luck.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang signs new Borussia Dortmund contract

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has signed a contract extension at Borussia Dortmund until 2020, Aubameyang, who had been linked with Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain earlier this summer, extended his previous terms by two years.

The 26-year-old told his club's official website: "I'm absolutely delighted that the next years of my career will be spent at Borussia Dortmund. I feel very happy at the club, in this team and in this city.

"BVB has become like a second home to me. Every part of me wants to be here and I have never wanted to leave."

Aubameyang arrived from St Etienne in 2013 and, after beginning his time at the club on the right wing, he was converted into a central attacker by former Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp after Robert Lewandowski's move to Bayern Munich.

The Gabon international was one of the few players not to disappoint for Dortmund last season, scoring 24 goals in all competitions and providing 10 assists.

Sporting director Michael Zorc said: "Auba has developed outstandingly. We are very happy that we have been able to tie him down to a long-term contract."
Ah yeh.. he might be handy to have around for a long period of time... he is a decent player ha!

Dortmnud v Monchengladbach Aubameyang gave Borussia Dormtund the lead on 23 minutes, Mkhitaryan then doubled lead on 38 minutes after some great interplay with Marco Reus, the match over before halftime when Aubameyang got his second of the night with a cooly executed finish.
Dortmund pushed for more in the second half but could not add to the scoreline

Mainz v Dortmund Borussia Dortmund were outplayed by a tactically superior Mainz side who were setup to counter perfectly by Martin Schmidt, the only got of the game came just after the restart when Jhon Cordoba was found perfectly by Fabian Frei, and all Cordoba had to do was apply a simple finish from 5 yards out.

Dortmund v Darmstadt Dortmund returned back to their comfort zone against Darmstadt in front of their own fans, and they made it 6 goals from two home matches with a 3-0 win, Sven Bender opened the scoring on 12 minute, Aubameyang made it two in the 23rd minute to put Dortmund in complete control, Aubameyang then wrapped it up just after the restart to give Dortmund the win and a big 3 points

Bayern v Dortmund arguably the two best teams in Germany met in the last game of the month, Bayern displayed why they are yet again the team to beat with a convincing 3-1 win at the Allianz Arena, Robert Lewandowski made it 1-0 to Bayern early in the match, Aubameyang did equalise from the spot though after Rafinha had brought down Reus..

it all went pear shaped for Dortmund after that though as Felix Passlack saw red after horror tackle on Mario Gotze, from then on it was all Bayern and two second half goals in two minutes from Alaba and Benatia saw Bayern run out victors

Bundesliga Table

Bayern Munich have retained their two point lead with 3 wins from 4 during September, Schalke also picked up 10 points this month which sees them in second place, Borussia Dortmund have slipped to 4th after only picking up 6 points from a possible 12 in a fairly disappointing month.
At the other end of the table Borussia Monchengladbach and Wolfsburg have both failed to pick up wins and find themselves in 17th and 18th respectively
