With one of the oldest footballing clubs resigned to their first ever relegation since the inception of the Premier League, the sporting world awaits the rise of the Villa like a phoenix from the ashes of the Championship.

With rebirth, things must always change. The people behind the scenes at Villa Park were stale, and fans began to leave the stadium with a bad taste in their mouth.

Lerner has left, and in his wake much of his regime has faltered and been cast away from what is a prestigious club. The new messiah of football at Villa Park is someone who has relatively little known about him. Dr. Tony Xia. The billionaire from China, who studied at Harvard and has some of the biggest architectural designs in his home country accountable to him.

His plans are clear. Within the next ten years he wants Aston Villa to be one of the top 3 clubs in the world, and the number one club in China. To do this a lot of work needs to be done, and people that are up to the task need to be put in place of those who aren't.

Tomorrow is a new dawn, and the Lions will roar at the rising sun once more.

In the wake of relegation, many managers have been linked with the managerial seat left vacant by Remi Garde, such as Nigel Pearson, Roberto Di Matteo and David Moyes, all of whom have vast managerial pedigree. However, the Villans have opted once more to not go for experience or trophy cabinets.

Jean-Phillipe Valbuena hails from Marseille, France, where he coached the French national team's U19 squad for three years. The manager, who is thirty-six, has no experience managing a domestic side and especially not one in England. He is able to speak the English language fluently, as his father was born in Blackpool.

"I have been made manager of this prestigious club as I am deemed the perfect candidate to bridge the gap between the core of French and British players within the squad. Dr. Xia trusts me fully and I understand that some fans may be skeptical. But there is no need to worry."

Hope you can bounce back from the shambles Lerner has left the club in man!
@mgriffin2012 / Thank you! It'll be hard but by god it'll be worth it.

The first changes to what has been considered in previous years a poor regime have undergone at Villa Park today, with a host of new faces joining the scouting team. Some members of the scouting team have remained, but the likes of Paddy Riley and those who have taken the brunt of the blame have been sacked.

Replacing Paddy Riley as the head of the scouting team is former Blackburn U18's manager Phil Cannon, who will be earning £3,000 a week in his new role. Known for his no-nonsense attitude and his ability in both scouting, youth development and coaching, his knowledge is something that the upper echelons at Villa Park considered to be extremely important.

Thirty-five year old Finnish scout Janne Wilkman remains at the club and is one of a few that managed to keep their jobs amidst the clear out.

Former Chief Scout at Wigan Tony Coton joins the new look scouting team, and is thought to be considered as Cannon's right hand man. Coton has essential experience in scouting for Wigan as well as being a former Assistant Manager at Queens Park Rangers, as well as a Goalkeeping Coach at Manchester United. As a player he played for Manchester United, Sunderland and Villa's home rivals Birmingham City.

Tony McAndrew remains as a scout also, and has been a scout for the club since 1988. Jean-Phillipe personally met with Tony and told him his knowledge of the club and experience as being a part of the background staff was something that would keep him at the club for some time.

A new scouting addition is former Director of Football at Derby County, Chris Evans. The Welshman is known as being a former Arsenal and Stoke City player. He is thought to join both Coton and Cannon in being leaders amongst the scouting set up and will provide much needed knowledge to the side.

English former Goalkeeping coach Steve Marsella joins from Notts. County, after being personally asked for by Jean-Phillipe. The new scout is former Chief Scout at Inverness and Hibernian.

Joe McLaughlin has also been appointed, after being free from a job since leaving Bolton in 2014. The former Chelsea player, who is 55, has the skill set required by the new manager and was approached by members of the board to join the new set-up.

Finally, former West Ham United chief scout Jimmy Hampson also joins the new look scouting team. Hampson was Chief Scout at The Hammers for 18 years and will provide experience that is unmatched within the team. His reputation is worldwide and he is known to find young prospects.

Every new appointment in the scouting set-up is British, which is a shock to a lot of fans, who thought the appointment of another Frenchman at the helm would see the backroom staff inundated with unknown French personnel.

Bodymoor Heath, Aston Villa's training complex was a sea of media sharks today as Jean-Phillipe Valbuena announced his hand-selected backroom set-up. There were photos taken of each member of staff and small interviews conducted alongside this. Dr. Tony Xia is thought to be happy to give Valbuena free reign over the staff he brings in, so long as they fit.

Jean-Phillipe Valbuena's right hand man and assistant manager Michael Lindeman was the first to arrive at Bodymoor Heath. The 51-year-old Dutchman has experience from all over the world, after being assistant manager at Fulham, and a fitness coach at Ajax and Hamburg. It is thought that Valbuena and Lindeman have a connection that goes back longer than their Aston Villa careers.

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes was the second, who announced that he is "relishing" the opportunity that has been placed before him. The 40-year-old is thought to favor a role as an assistant manager in the future, but wants to get experience from being a coach at various clubs first. A key member of the English game until his retirement, Scholes will play a key role in the training of the Villa
players this season.

The shock appointment of the lot was third, with Gary Megson arriving. Megson played for a host of big clubs during his playing career and has managed just as many. He is perhaps the most experienced member of the backroom staff and will be called upon for secondary tactical advice by Valbuena and Lindeman, as well as helping the defensive side of coaching.

Former Real Madrid and Chelsea fitness coach Carlos Lalín came shortly after. The 44-year-old Spaniard has worked for some of the biggest clubs in the world and will be a huge asset for Aston Villa and the club's players in their bids to remain fit. The appointment of Lalín is thought to be after fans calling for the sides players to be sent on Fitness camps due to their lack of fitness last season.

Milwall Head of Youth Development Barry Dunn came next, being the only new staff member to transfer from a club. It is thought that the previous HOYD at Bodymoor Heath was surplus to requirements and Valbuena saw something in him or Milwalls academy.

Finally, French defender Anthony Révelliére is thought to be training for his coaching badges at the club while coaching the U18 squad. It is thought that once Révelliére has more experience he will continue to coach at the club but at a higher level.

There were also the appointments of:
  • Darren Heyes - Goalkeeping Coach from Wales
  • Paul Fagan - Goalkeeping Coach from Ireland
  • Pasquale Domenico Rocco - Attacking & Technical Coach from Italy
  • Jeff Spiers - Mental Coach from Northern Ireland

Fitness coach Robert Duverne remains in his job after Remi Garde's reign, as well as Goalkeeping Coach Tony Parks, who recently joined the club from Norwich just before Valbuena's appointment.
Big overhaul of the back room staff but, looks like a good staff. Also the graphics are really good
Thanks very much mate - means a lot. The overhaul is huge but it was definitely needed.

Aston Villa were today allowed to announce their first signing since the takeover by Dr. Tony Xia, and the appointment of new manager Jean-Phillipe Valbuena.

The first person to join what could potentially be a new look Aston Villa side for the Championship is Oxford United winger Callum O'Dowda.

O'Dowda helped fire Oxford to promotion from League Two and is set to feature in the Aston Villa squad for the upcoming season after transferring for a fee believed to be around £1,100,000.

The 20-year-old, who had appeared for Ireland at youth level, is expected to be earning around £1,600 a week which will rise after he plays a certain number of first team games.

It is thought that Valbuena has long been a fan of the young Irish prospect and enjoyed watching him in Oxford's promotion efforts last season.

O'Dowda has put pen to paper on a one year deal which is expected to have a extension clause in it.
Some very high-profile staff hired, nice to see Scholes join!
@Justice - Cheers mate, hopefully they help get Villa back where they belong
Callum O'Dowda! He's a cracking player in my save, great signing mate :)
Hopefully you can make the young players you buy come good unlike Villa did in real life!

Aston Villa's second signing of the season also came from the league below, but this time it is a goalkeeper. Fans are becoming worried that Aston Villa are preparing for the long haul in the Championship rather than spending to get straight back to the Premier League.

Southend United goalkeeper Daniel Bentley has joined Aston Villa for a fee of around £1,500,000.

The 22-year-old goalkeeper has been at Southend since 2009, but has only been playing regular football for the last two years, making over 80 appearances in two seasons.

The keeper stands at 6 ft 4 and is considered to be a replacement for Braz Guzan who will likely be leaving the club this summer after poor performances throughout the season.

Bentley will be at the club for two years under his current contract, thought to be worth around £7,800 a week.

It is also thought that at the end of this season Mark Bunn will possibly leave, leaving Bentley as a sure number one and Montenegrin youngster Matija Sarkic as his understudy.
i am doing a newcastle save in the championship will be interesting to see the contrast of our saves, just wish mine was called life after mike ashley but isn't going to happen any time soon :(

Aston Villa successfully have completed their third signing of the new season as they look to sure up their squad before the beginning of the Championship season. Many players are expected to leave in the coming days with a large number of the relegated squad supposedly in contact with other clubs.

Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Kourtney Hause has completed a move to Aston Villa today, for a fee believed to be around £5,500,000 with an added £2,000,000 bonus if the club gain promotion to the Premier League.

Hause has played for two of Aston Villa's local rivals in the form of Wolves and Birmingham City, so he knows the area well and is looking forward to playing for such a prestigious club.

The England U21 International is thought to be on wages around £15,500 for three years.

At only 20-years-old he is certainly a player that can grow with the club and may prove a legend in the making for the Birmingham based side.

Kourtney Hause:
I'm glad to have joined Aston Villa, they are a side that are close to my heart. I know I have affiliations with both Birmingham and Wolves but I would like to ask the fans to disregard these and just take into account how I am going to perform.

Hause passed his medical with flying colours and is set to join the side on their Pre-season Holland training camp shortly.
