Thank you for reading my Bayer 04 Leverkusen story, this post will contain a brief overview of the club its history, facilities and reason why I choose to do this story.

Bayer 04 Leverkusen fußball GmbH, also known as Bayer 04 Leverkusen, is a professional football club based in Leverkusen, North Rhine-Westphalia. In 1999, the football club was separated from the sport club and is now formally called Bayer 04 Leverkusen fußball GmbH.

Reason to choose Bayer 04 Leverkusen

There were two reasons why I choose to manage Bayer 04 Leverkusen: 1) Stopping the Bayern Munich domination/hegemony and getting rid of the nickname "Neverkusen". 2) Commemorating Bayer 04 Leverkusen ex-manager Sascha Lewandowski, who past away way too soon at the age of 44 in June 2016. R.I.P. Sascha Lewandowski.

Next post will contain an overview of the first team squad.

Leverkusen- 22 June- Only a couple days after the German football world was shocked to the core by the death or former Bayer 04 Leverkusen manager Sascha Lewandowski, Bayer 04 Leverkusen had to swallow another bitter pill. First team manager Roger Schmidt has announced that he will retreat from his position as first team manager. In a press conference, Roger Schimdt said: “It was an honor to be Leverkusen its manager. Me, my staff and the squad had a great time last year at Bayer 04 Leverkusen and the club is completely not the reason that I retire from my function. The sudden death of my precursor Sascha Lewandowski has loosened a lot of emotion and haunts me in my thoughts. It prevents me from conducting my job as Bayer 04 Leverkusen for the full 100%."

According to Leverkusen its director of football Rudi Völler:"It is unfortunate for Bayer 04 Leverkusen as club that Roger leaves, but we fully understand his choice and wish him the best in the future. We as club now need to find a new manager as quickly as possible."

Update 23-June: Karl R. Kroenen takes Bayer 04 managers hot seat.
Rudi Völler kept his word as he stated: “we need to find a new manager as quickly as possible." Only 1 day after the retreat of Roger Schmidt, Bayer 04 Leverkusen has found a new manager. The new manager of Bayer 04 Leverkusen goes by the name of Karl R. Kroenen and is a total stranger in managing a professional senior football squad. Although Völler admits that Kroenen lacks in football team managing experience, he also states that Kroenen has showed to be a highly skilled and determined trainer at regional league youth teams. Furthermore, Völler said that Kroenen is a well-known, respected person at Bayer pharmaceuticals and Kroenen could act as a link between the company Bayer, the club and the fans. Karl R. Kroenen signs a contract for 1 season.
Good luck!
Good luck mate, the Bundesliga is always a really cool league to manage in for me so looking forward to this!

Leverkusen-7 August 2015 The German first division is just 1 week away and preparations are in full flow. Every day, Bild will highlight one of the eighteen German first division team, which is today Bayer 04 Leverkusen.

Bayer 04 Leverkusen has, to put it mildly, had an eventful summer. It started with the unexpected death of ex-Bayer 04 Leverkusen manager Sascha Lewandowski, and the subsequently followed retreat of first team manager Roger Schmidt. Roger Schmidt will be succeeded by Karl R Kroenen, a 43-year-old rookie in managerial experience. Despite the fact that Kroenen has no managerial experience, the club stated towards the press that Bayer 04 Leverkusen has to finish in the top 4 of the German first division. The Bild experts say that finishing 4th would be a virtually impossible task for a rookie manager, however the club Bayer 04 Leverkusen has expressed its confidence in Kroenen. This means that one question remains unaswered: Can Karl Kroenen do the virtually impossible for Bayer 04 Leverkusen?

During their preseason, Bayer 04 Leverkusen went on training camp and played numerous friendly matches. After a 3-2 victory at Großaspach, the team lost two consecutive games against Düsseldorf II (1-0) and Düsseldorf I (2-1). The two losses in a row, the team beat Stuttgart II (1-2), Wil (0-3), Magdeburg (0-4) and Celtic (2-1). The last 2 friendly matches ended in a 2-1 loss against Sevilla and a 4-2 victory over Braga. Varying Results, which generally mean no good for a high ranked position in the German first division.

The varying preseason results could be explained by the high number of first team mutations. First squad players like star player Heung-Min Son (Tottenham), Gonzalo Castro (Dortmund), Stefan Reinartz (Frankfurt), Guilo Donati (Mainz), Joseph Drmic (BMG) and Simon Rolfes (end of career) left die Werkself. To their departure, Christoph Kramer (BMG) and Robbie Kruse (Stuttgart) came back from their loan spells Furthermore Bayer 04 Leverkusen brought in potential key players such as home-grown Kevin Kampl (Dortmund), Andre Ramalho (RB Salzburg), Jonathan Tah (Hamburg), Admir Mehmedi (Freiburg), Kyriakos Papadopoulos (Gelsenkirchen) and Javier Hernandez (Man Utd).

Bild its expectation is that despite the fact that Kroenen has a talented squad, he would be unable to match the high Bayer 04 Leverkusen expectations. However, it would be his duty to prove us wrong and start the season with a victory at Cottbus (German cup) and Gelsenkirchen (German first division).
