FM17 Redvee's Ranger's Rebuild

My name is Stephen Neville. I am 39 years old and a ex footballer. I retired due to injury. My career was cut short whilst playing against Charlton Athletic for Crewe Alexandra in 2013. Ever since then I have been doing my coaching badges. Crewe boss at the time I got injured Dario Gradi asked me to become under 18's coach and do my coaching qualifications. After a few years I left for Berwick Rangers and became an assistant manager. After a while they sacked there manager and his staff. I was one that got sacked.

I have decided that I want to manage a team. I heard from the English FA and the Scottish FA that I was one of the lucky ones to be selected for manager of Rangers and there was a few candidates for the job. I thought to myself, as I was send my cv off to Rangers. I have no chance in getting this job.

It was about three weeks later and the postman came. The letterhead said Rangers on it. My hands are shaking and I am trembling and I opened it.............Congratulations we would like to offer you the job of manager of Rangers. I ran round the house screaming. This is my dream job. I know Rangers and there problems they have had but I would like to get them into europe.

I started packing and off I went to Glasgow.

Good luck I will be cheering you to improve Scottish Football but please never beat Celtic haha.

After arriving in Glasgow. I was unsure where Murray Park was. I asked a taxi to take me there. The taxi driver said " Ok mate, I will take you there now".

Murray Park was busy. The press was camped outside. They must of been informed about a new manager coming today. James Blair the company secretary came out and opened the door and spoke quitely.

Mr Blair " Are you Mr Neville".

Me " I am, I'm here to sign as the manager of Rangers"

Mr Blair" This way please".

I walked in the building, very nervous and legs shaking. We stopped at reception "Please sign in Sir ". Mr Blair said. I signed in and we knocked on the door of Stewart Robertson the managing director. He had permission from the owner to aid me in my signing.

After I signed, I was given my staff reports, free agents, medical reports. I was given my training gear. I was now the manager of Rangers. Rangers is a club I have always liked. Back in the days of legends Mark Hateley and Ally McCoist.

I have now been given the wonderful job of manager. My first job to look at the staff. When Mark Warburton was in charge he took a lot of staff with him to Nottingham Forest. They placed a coach who had no idea of football in charge.

So I am looking for an assistant manager and I think I have found one in.




Raul ex Real Madrid and Schalke 04 player. He is looking to be a coach. So I am taking a risk and I'm offering him the job as assistant manager.

Also Joe Jordan ex Portsmouth coach is coming into my staff.

Now let's have a look at players. I am keeping the players at the moment but I want to add to my squad.



Enzo Fernandez Zidane( Real Madrid's boss Zinedine Zidane son)



Nigel Reo Coker ex West Ham. Aston Villa and MLS Chivas USA and Montreal Impact player.

Next step is to talk to the players. Lee Wallace is already captain of Rangers. He will be the first one I speak to.

Reo-Coker would add some invaluable experience to your side.

It's sunny Glasgow and I am getting ready for my first training session with the boys. I have just put my training gear on and my boots on. Time for training I think. On my way to the Murray ground the press is outside and taking pictures of the players in there cars, as I was driving through I stopped and I spoke to a young boy who was sitting there in a wheelchair. He had a banner. NEVILLE's RANGERS.

I spoke to the lad" How old are you".

The young lad said he was" He was 13 and from Glasgow and he was a Rangers fan"

I replied" Who's your favourite player"

He replied" Kenny Miller"

I told the lad " Stay there one minute" and then I drove into my parking bay, that said Manager. I got out and straight away Kenny was getting out of his Land Rover. I went upto Kenny and said " Kenny could you sign an autograph for the young lad outside"

Kenny wrote his name down and I said " I'll take this to the lad and thank you "

After making the kids day, it was time for training. After a few drills and going through the tactics and then a practice match. I went in doors and left Raul in charge. I needed to do paperwork and see our fixtures.

After a lot of training days. It was time for our first match.

Cambuslang Rangers away.



Lee Wallace my Captain got injured. He fell awkwardly and has broken his collarbone. He will be out for a while.

The next came and we learned the news of Lee. I had a to find a player who would fill in at left back. My team has hardly any left backs.

The next game against Randers of Denmark at Ibrox and Clint Hill my centre back is going to play there and I will see what he can do. Clint Hill is a Centre Back who can play Left Back.

The next game Randers we lost 0-3 and Hill got 5.9 in his rating. I knew then we need a left Back.

The Day after the loss. I called Raul in to my office, along with Joe Jordan and we looked at what we had in kids. We had a 16 year old Scott Gray.

Our next game is against Wycombe Wanderer's away.

Wycombe Wanderer's 2-2 and Scott gave his best and finished with 7.0. We also got 2 goals from Waghorn

I would have been worried if you didn't shut out Cambuslang Rangers lol

The next friendly is Stevenage away 0-0

The game was terrible. The boys were poor. I locked the door and I let them have it. Kenny Miller has yet to score a goal. The new lads are doing well but I still need another left back and a striker.

It was the day after the terrible game against Stevenage. I had changed the tactics. We are now playing 4-3-3. Now we have a new tactic I need to speak to Clint Hill. Clint Hill is one of my older players and he is giving me ratings of 7 and over. Due to the injury to Lee Wallace I need a captain. So I am offering Hill the armband. So when Lee comes back he can concentrate on fitness and getting back to his old playing.

My next game is a big one. The Betfred Cup First Round

The Betfred Cup First Round is against Elgin City away.




The first game was a win Joe Garner was sensational and I let him know after the game.

Game 2 is against Stirling. The Stirling game was one of our best performances. It finished 4-1 to us and Joe Garner scored again and Kenny Miller scored. I lept off my seat with joy when he scored. James Tavernier scored and Clint Hill. We also had two bookings. Jon Toral and Philippe Senderos.

After a few days break. Time for game 3 of the cup. It was against Stranraer.

We won 1-0 it was a bad performance and the goal came from Jon Toral but Kenny Miller banged his head hard and he has concussion and will be out for 2 weeks. So I will have to look at Martyn Waghorn and Barrie McKay.

Three days later it was game 4 of the cup against Motherwell

Before the game Legend Ally McCoist said to watch out for the captain of Motherwell Ben Heneghan.

We won 2-5 at Fir Park. Goals from Enzo Zidane. James Tavernier. Barrie McKay. Joe Dodoo and o.g from Ben Heneghan. We qualified for the next round. I wonder who we will get.

Nice win, Joe Garner is a decent player and you should hold on to him

The draw for the Betfred Cup has been made and we got Dundee.

Clint Hill is a very good captain, Since he has taken the job. The players are more happy. Barrie McKay isn't scoring much and we need a new striker. A scout has recommended a player from Livingston Matthew Knox. He is very young but has the ability to be great.

My game against Dundee in the Betfred Cup. We lost 1-2 and Joe Garner scored but we have lost a main player Jon Toral is injured for at least three months. The decision I have to make. Cancel his loan and use the wage money for good or stick with him while he gets better.

I am going to think long and hard about this.
