An Introduction to the Story

As you can see in the description, I will start this save unemployed. I have started the save as a default manager with no coaching badges and as a sunday league footballer.

The following leagues are included (using the 17.3.0 DB):
- All English lea]gues
- All German leagues
- All French leagues
- All Spanish leagues
- All Italian leagues
- All Portuguese leagues (These are the top 6 leagues)
- All Dutch leagues (The manager is from this country)

I must say that I have no experience in Football Manager whatsoever. The same goes for writing stories on this website. Also, English is not my first language, although I am quite capable of writing in English. The skin used is Vitrex17 2.0.

Please leave feedback so that my content is more enjoyable for you guys to read. Any tips are appreciated.

Hopefully, you lot will enjoy this and see you at the start of the actual story.

The History and the Beginning

Hello all.
My name is Bart Koopmans. I'm a 20-year-old on the verge of beginning my managerial career. First, I must tell you why I'm not still playing football at this young age.

I used to play for H.B.S., a local club near my parents' home.
This club played in the fourth tier of Dutch football. I wasn't good enough to join a professional club, but I did play in the first team at the age of 17. I also managed the U13s at that age. After my first season in the first team, I went to Wales to follow an IB (School-related) course there. Ending school at the age of 19 I realised I wanted to manage a team instead of playing myself. I decided I wanted to be the manager of a big club one day.

In England, there were just four clubs that both seemed interesting and were looking for a new manager: Worcester City (Vanarama National League North), Eastleigh (Vanarama National League), Leicester (Premier League) and Port Vale (League One). Wanting to start as soon as possible, I applied for all of the jobs, knowing that Leicester and Port Vale would almost be impossible to succeed.
And indeed, Leicester and Port Vale did not invite me for an interview. But, to my surprise, Eastleigh and Worcester City did just that. Mainly because Eastleigh was in a higher tier than Worcester and because they responded first I decided to come to their interview. And who would've thought: four days later, on the 21st of June 2016, Koopmans got his first managerial job. A new manager for Eastleigh had arrived.

Knowing I will stay with The Spitfires for some time, I might buy a small apartment in Eastleigh.

Good luck! Eastleight is a nice club to start with!

My First Match

After being in charge for just over two weeks, I had to make myself and my team ready for the very first friendly of my entire career, really. And it wasn´t an easy one, too. It was at home against two-tier-higher Bristol Rovers.

Eastleigh vs Bristol Rovers
Lineups:
Eastleigh: 4-1-2-3
Clarke; Odoffin, Cresswell, Johnson, Garrett; Close, Togwell, Matthews; Stearn, Henderson, Leacock-McLeod
Bristol Rovers: 4-4-2
Lumley; Leadbitter, Lockyer, Hartley, Brown; Bodin, Clarke, Lines, Montaño; Gaffney, Harrison

After telling the players that they should show me why they deserve a place in the team, the match could begin. Wow, what a feeling.

8' 0 - 1 Harrison (BRI)
25' 0 - 2 Lines (BRI) (PEN)
38' Clarke (BRI)
MOTM: Montaño (BRI) (7.3 rtg, 0 gls, 1 ast)
Final Result: Eastleigh 0 - 2 Bristol Rovers

Sadly the result wasn't as I wanted it to be, but it was just a friendly. Also, we played against a much better team but had 12% more possession and double the shots. We just didn´t finish our chances. I think we can take a lot of positives from this match-up.

To be continued...
Eastleigh are a good club to start your career with, they are one of the richer clubs within the National League and so you'll have the financial advantage compared to some of the other clubs which is always helpful.
