We can confirm that the rumours surrounding Garry Monk are true, as he has left his post as Leeds United manager. With pre-season about to start, Leeds are looking to replace Garry Monk as quickly as possible.

We do believe that this is a resignation rather than a sacking, but we currently have no details about why he decided to leave his post, but according to a credible source, Monk felt that his ambitions were no longer matched by the chairman, hence he handed in his resignation.

Our sources tell us that they are looking at three potential candidates, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, , Nick Barmby, and Jamie Carragher. Hasselbaink is currently the favourite to take over according to SkyBet, but we'll let you know as soon as we get the information.

Some rather surprising news this morning, as Leeds united have just announced on Twitter that Jamie Carragher is their new boss. Hasselbaink was indeed the favourite to take over after Gary Monk's resignation, but they have opted to give the job to former Liverpool defender Carragher.

Born in Bootle, Carragher signed for Liverpool when he was just 10 years old, and went on to become a legend for the club until his retirement in 2013. During this course, he went on to play 737 times for the Reds, along with 38 caps for England, scoring a total of 4 goals. He was renowned for being a tough tackling defender, reading the game and giving his absolute all in every match, with the final in Istanbul in 2005 a particular highlight of what Carragher was all about.

This is the first time that he will be involved in management, as he was most recently a pundit on Monday night football along Gary Neville. It will be interesting to see how Carragher will do in his first job as a manager, but we'll soon find out as the season is just a month away from starting.

Meeting the charmain

Today was my first day on the job. I arrived at Thorp Arch, our training ground, at 8:00 am sharp, and I was greeted by Mr.Cellino at the reception are. We went to his office to have a small chat about our direction and responsibilities.

MC: Jamie! Welcome to Leeds. Let's quickly go over some formalities. First of all, tomorrow is your press conference, be at Elland Road at 9:00 am, the press will be waiting.

Me: Yes of course boss.

MC: The second thing I'd like to say, and we went over this already in the interview, is that you'll have no budget to spend in this window. Gary Monk spent all the budget on players before he resigned, so this squad is what you're gonna have to work with until at least January.

Me: No problem at all, I think this squad is more than capable of challenging on all fronts. We have a great mix of experience and youth and I'm looking forward to getting into pre season and see what this team can do.

MC: That's all I wanted to say, good luck for your first day in charge.

Meeting the team

After my meeting with our chairman, I proceeded into the dressing room. The players were waiting anxiously to meet their new manager, and I won't lie, I had a few nerves myself. The players were dressed in their kit and ready for training, but I wanted to say a few words first.

'' So boys as you all know, I'm your new manager. This is my first job in management, so I'm going to learn from you as much as you are going to learn from me. This club has been a bit on the back foot for quite a while now, and the only way that that is going to change is if all of us work together.

I don't work with preferences, any player that shows great ethic and is hungry enough to play will play. If any of you think that your place in the squad is guaranteed, think again. Everyone has to fight for their place.

As much as you're gonna fight to earn your place, we should also fight for each other. To succeed, teamwork is essential, and let me make this clear, whoever tries to disrupt harmony in this squad will be gone. With that being said, it's the first day of preseason, let's go to work''
