FM14 - An Alternative Reality

The Premier League has undergone big changes, as we see big teams drop down and smaller teams rise up. There are 2 examples of this here, as will be said in the Winners/Losers section.

You may notice at least 1 big team here, which will be covered later on. Overall, the Championship has also seen radical changes.

You may be surprised at a few finalists here, but the majority is still the same as it is in 2018.

A bit more variation on the finalists here, but still quite boring for the majority.

Hull and Carlisle
Both of these teams have seen consortiums arrive and change the club completely. Hull were a consistent 6th-8th place finishing team before the consortium came in in 2030, then they proceeded to have a bit of a down period, constantly finishing 8th-12th, before the turn came in the 2035/36 season, when they made the leap to 4th place. Nowadays, after winning the Europa League and Euro Super Cup in 2025, they are perennial Champions League hopefuls, making it to the Quarter Finals twice, and Premier League title contenders having finished 2nd last year.

Carlisle were struggling as a yo-yo club, bouncing between League 1 and League 2. Then the tycoon came in. 2036 will be known as the start of the rise, as they finished 1st in L2 in 2036/37, 1st in L1 in 2037/38, 3rd in the Championship in 2038/39 and 1st in the Championship in 2039/40. They then proceeded to finish a solid 14th in the Premier League, potentially solidifying themselves ready for a future European place battle in the next few years.

Liverpool
The Reds had a hard time of it. Everything was going alright for them, before the 2030/31 season. That year, they crashed to 12th, and never fully recovered. They managed to finish 5th in 2034/35, but that would be their highest position in a long while, as they proceeded to finish 15th, 16th then the nightmare occured for all Reds fans. A 20th place finish sealed their relegation to the Championship. They looked to bounce back, but were knocked out of the Promotion playoffs in 2038/39. This caused them to collapse and finish a lowly 18th in the Championship in the next 2 seasons. Will they recover? Who knows!

The Bundesliga sees a few shock winners (see 2031-33), but it's mostly just been Bayern.

A good mix is seen nearer in the 2030's, before that Bayern dominated the competition.

The shocking thing here is Barca only winning 2 La Liga trophies since 2030. Real Madrid and Atlético have dominated the league surprisingly.

A bit more variation in the cups as always, but the general consensus is still Real Madrid and Barca.

Juve All Day... apart from the last 3 years!

Same situation as all other cups, yada yada yada.

So... this is interesting! Most big teams have won the CL, a few multiple times..and then we have my former team, Club Brugge, who have destroyed the competition in recent times, winning it 4 out of the last 5 seasons.

Lots of interesting things here! From Newcastle pulling a Sevilla in 2035-37, to the shock wins of Rapid Wien and Anderlecht and the Belgian Dominance year of 2041 with KV Kortrijk winning the EL to go with Club Brugge's CL win.
