So I saw a post on facebook, to do a challenge of trying to win the champions league with Accrington Stanley but also writing a story to go with it. I have deemed this to be called the milk bottle challenge after the 80’s milk advert saying if you drank your milk you could play for a better team than Accrington Stanley. I started this save on March 23rd 2018.
The reason for the challenge is that they are deemed the least possible club in the football league to win the champions league in the shortest possible time. This is due to lack of infrastructure and funds and a small stadium.
Here is my history with Championship / Football Manager. I have played it since my early teens, on my Amiga, and then purchased the game every year. In the old days you used to dread the red triangle in the bottom right hand corner, as it meant your star player was off to play in Europe for a third of there stated fee. Or there was one game on the Amiga where it partional crashed and the data went haywire and Paul Merson was worth £150M, where you could have brought every player in the English leagues for less than that.
After playing for many years, being teams from the lower leagues taking them up the pyramid is what I have found enjoyable. So over the years I have had some great saves, with Crewe, Sheff Wed, Bournemouth, Blackburn & Brentford. But my two faves where Cardiff playing a 4-2-4 long ball, and Milwall where I ended up a 75k all seater stadium and having fat Ronaldo and Crespo as my front two and both obtained via bosmans.
League 2 the journey starts.
Seeing as I don't know about the history of the club, I will for once take a look to see what we are starting with, so no trophy for 12 years, so I need to put a smile on those fans faces as quickly as possible.
So we have a bond with Blackburn & Burnley, so hopefully can raid them for a few loan players.
So lets start looking at the squad and see what players we need. I use a 4-3-3 PAV BetaBlocker v6, at the moment. As experince has told me we need 2 players per position to get out of the lower divisions due to Sat-Tues or Wednesday matches every week.

I need some extra midfielders and another left back. I will aim to get rid of some players who I deem surplus as to claw back some of the current wage bill of £23k per week.
I've arranged some extra friendlies, as that will help with team bonding, tactics and working out who is my ideal first XI and some extra cash.
I brought in Jack Robinson as my GK coach, and was able to get Alan Curbishley as my DOF, to help out with the scouting of new players.
I play friendlies away from home, and let the assistant manager take control using my tactics. I choose very heavy fitness training till August, then change to a balanced and average. For match prep the first 2 to 3 weeks it is teamwork, then match tactics till the season starts, then I change to Def. Postioning.

So over the next couple of months we need to try and improve the infrastructure, and quality of the staff. Next season will be a building season, in both the ground, facilities and getting a real firm base of young players to push us on to the next level so we can compete in the championship.
Staff wise, I want to bring in a new Assistant Manager, some new coaches and increase my number of coaches. A few new scouts and to fill out my medical staff.
Ive arranged friendlies with Celtic, GERS, ABZ & Hearts to bring in just shy of 300k, and some lower league to build up the confidence.

My aim is to finish 10th or above, no point just aiming for just to stay clear of the relegation zone. I also aim to get to the quarter final’s of both cups.
I aim to improve all facilities over the course of the year, and improve the backroom staff as we are listed as 20th in scouting and medical.

The reason for the challenge is that they are deemed the least possible club in the football league to win the champions league in the shortest possible time. This is due to lack of infrastructure and funds and a small stadium.
Here is my history with Championship / Football Manager. I have played it since my early teens, on my Amiga, and then purchased the game every year. In the old days you used to dread the red triangle in the bottom right hand corner, as it meant your star player was off to play in Europe for a third of there stated fee. Or there was one game on the Amiga where it partional crashed and the data went haywire and Paul Merson was worth £150M, where you could have brought every player in the English leagues for less than that.
After playing for many years, being teams from the lower leagues taking them up the pyramid is what I have found enjoyable. So over the years I have had some great saves, with Crewe, Sheff Wed, Bournemouth, Blackburn & Brentford. But my two faves where Cardiff playing a 4-2-4 long ball, and Milwall where I ended up a 75k all seater stadium and having fat Ronaldo and Crespo as my front two and both obtained via bosmans.
League 2 the journey starts.
Seeing as I don't know about the history of the club, I will for once take a look to see what we are starting with, so no trophy for 12 years, so I need to put a smile on those fans faces as quickly as possible.
So we have a bond with Blackburn & Burnley, so hopefully can raid them for a few loan players.
So lets start looking at the squad and see what players we need. I use a 4-3-3 PAV BetaBlocker v6, at the moment. As experince has told me we need 2 players per position to get out of the lower divisions due to Sat-Tues or Wednesday matches every week.
I need some extra midfielders and another left back. I will aim to get rid of some players who I deem surplus as to claw back some of the current wage bill of £23k per week.
I've arranged some extra friendlies, as that will help with team bonding, tactics and working out who is my ideal first XI and some extra cash.
I brought in Jack Robinson as my GK coach, and was able to get Alan Curbishley as my DOF, to help out with the scouting of new players.
I play friendlies away from home, and let the assistant manager take control using my tactics. I choose very heavy fitness training till August, then change to a balanced and average. For match prep the first 2 to 3 weeks it is teamwork, then match tactics till the season starts, then I change to Def. Postioning.

I've signed a new contract till the end of the 2019 season, got a £400 pay rise per week. I then asked the board for extra coaches, and improvements to the junior coaching and youth recruitment. I stated we would be left behind by our rivals, and all where approved.

So over the next couple of months we need to try and improve the infrastructure, and quality of the staff. Next season will be a building season, in both the ground, facilities and getting a real firm base of young players to push us on to the next level so we can compete in the championship.
Staff wise, I want to bring in a new Assistant Manager, some new coaches and increase my number of coaches. A few new scouts and to fill out my medical staff.
Ive arranged friendlies with Celtic, GERS, ABZ & Hearts to bring in just shy of 300k, and some lower league to build up the confidence.

My aim is to finish 10th or above, no point just aiming for just to stay clear of the relegation zone. I also aim to get to the quarter final’s of both cups.
I aim to improve all facilities over the course of the year, and improve the backroom staff as we are listed as 20th in scouting and medical.
