hello there
i tried to run GS v1.11 on my computer and like most of us i wasn't able to run it.
now as i can tell from some users that posted here that the version worked perfectly on their laptops, so i tried it my self and you what it worked!:shock
now i looked at the operating system of my laptop and i saw that the only thing that have change is the edition, on my computer it was professional and at the laptop it was home edition.
conclusion : GS v1.11 work on XP home edition and not on professional edition.:yes

So.. every one who can confirm my conclusion is right please post it here !
thank to all! and let's hope that this will speed up the fixing of GS v1.11 :D

the ^conclusion^ above is wrong.
the new conclusion that we have been able to seek is that GS v1.11 works on laptops with windows XP on them no matter what edition and SP you got...
So.. every one who can confirm my conclusion is right please post it here !

another wanna be conclusion : maybe it's got somthing to do with the framework version and the fact that laptops might not have framework at all? can some more people can confirm that please post it here...
the ^conclusion^ above is wrong.

can any one suggest what might be the difference between laptop and normal computer?
You might be right. I'm on XP Pro (SP3) running on my laptop and it doesn't work.
I play on notebook (WinXP SP3) and GS 1.11 works very well.
parachutes do you use XP Pro or XP Home? I think that is the distinction despite the (slightly misleading) title of the thread.
I use XP mod based on Professional.
EDIT: I play on boxed version of FM.
vista home and it dont work

what do you mean based on professional... go to control panel system and see what is the windows edition.:@
what the hell is box version :con

vista home and it don't work

my theory does not include windows vista sorry dude..:no
I thought I'd try it out, I used my Mum's laptop (also XP Pro) and it worked on hers. Not really sure what this means...

hmmm... maybe it isn't matters what type of edition you for your windows...
strange why it only works on laptops ?:O_o
what is the process does not crash on laptop and on a computer it does?
what's the difference?:con

so.. the new conclusion is that GS V1.11 works on laptops with windows XP on it.
i will update the first post...
can more people can confirm that, that would be really helpful thanks!
No that can't be right, mine's a laptop and it doesn't work. Seems very strange that it works on some laptops and not others, and works on some editions but not others. Bit of a tricky one.
i think it's irrelevant. it's probably some windows update. i hope it's not framework related. but what if... provide your .net framework version if you got it, just to check.

ok i think i got it... this is what an guide from the internet told me to do...

above is the computer framework version and it's 3.5

and here is the laptop respond to the commend

any conclusion you can make from this info?...
Navigate to this Windows Registry path (start > run > write 'regedit' and hit enter):
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\NET Framework Setup\NDP

http://www.walkernews.net/wp-content/uploads/2008/05/registry-dot-net-version-a.jpg

Listed within NDP will be the .net framework versions installed.
For example I only have v2 installed (Genie works for me).

This is just a blind guess, so I might be wrong that it has anything to do with it.

aha.. we all doing blind guesses here ...:)
hmm... so i posted the version on my laptop and my computer and it doesn't have too much and resemble...
well, since Eugene doesn't know what's wrong with freeze/crash on start... blind guessing is an option lol
you posted version where mate?

EDIT: sorry didn't notice your post above. firefox doesn't print framework version (laptop), try another browser.
your desktop seems to have v2, v3 and v3.5 installed.
