Redvee35's Story FM19

Returning to football

After a while out of football Daniel Quinn was sitting at home watching sky sports and saw the news that Paul Scholes had taken over at Oldham Athletic. Daniel drunk a coffee and started to think about football and his life without it.

Daniel picked up the phone and contacted Stephen Carr his agent and said" Stephen it's Daniel"

Stephen replied" Hello my friend, whats the matter"

Daniel said" Is there any football teams wanting a manager"

Stephen said" Are you wanting to manage again"

Daniel said " Yes. I am not picky about the team. I just want to feel the buzz again"

Stephen then put the phone down and started to work. Three weeks had passed and the football season was dawning, then out of the blue. Daniel's phone rang "Hello Stephen any news" Daniel asked.

Stephen said" We do Chester City have sacked Bernard Morley. He got aggressive with chairman and he was sacked". "Do you want the job".

Daniel " Of course"

Stephen replied" I will get an interview sorted for you"

A week later I travelled to Chester from Newcastle and arrived at the Deva Stadium. The Deva was impressive for a team with no money. David Harrington Wright was there to take our interview. The owner of the club told me.

David said" We want a mid table finish and you can sack who ever you want". Having learned the job. I took the job and I was happy to be in football again.
Thank you , I'm going to need it lol
Good luck with Chester mate.

Daniel Quinn arrived at the Deva. Fan's were looking around for there new manager.

Arriving alone in car .He stepped out and was told his assistant manager Anthony Johnson had quit because of his close relationship with Bernard Morley.

First Job find a new Assistant Manager.

List of a few

Efe Sodje ex Macclesfield Town player.

Mickey Barron ex Hartlepool player

I decided to contact Efe. I knew his knowledge of African football who benefit our team.

I offered Efe 1yr deal because we are part-time football club.

Next job learn the players

The next day I met Efe Sodje and we had a look at the team and what changes we needed. Looking at the forwards they where young and inexperienced. So I decided to look at the free agents list.

Tom Craddock was the name really stood out. He play in the top leagues with Middlesbrough Football club in 2005-2007 but was loaned out and then he slipped into the lower leagues.

Looking at the right back spot. We need someone with pace Ismail Diallo came up and we signed the both of them too 1 year deal going into a second if the club decides.

Efe went off too training and i had meeting with the press and then I had to meet the members of the board.

Tom Craddock lives in Milton Keynes. Milton Keynes is a long way to Chester but he managed to drive up and we sat down because he knew of my history and wanted to tell me, people had told him. He is a good manager but you won't go far with him.

Tom told me " Don't worry boss, I know I want to play for you and hopefully get Chester back to being professional team".

After a few days of training. The fixtures for pre season came out.

Connah's Quay away

Gretna 2008 away

Airbus UK away

Denbigh Town away

Grimsby Town home

The next day it was time for our first away game against Connah's Quay. We kicked off. The air was cold in Wales. I was standing there with my tracksuit on and clothes. Three minutes in and we are losing. 1-0 Connah's Quay. After that goal we pressed hard all the way through to half time. I knew I needed a spark to I asked Tom Craddock to come on and show me what he is worth and he had shot after shot but luck. After the game I went upto Tom and said" The next game your playing upfront.

After changing to 4-4-2 with Akwasi Asante and Tom Craddock up front against Gretna 2008. A few days later it was the Gretna game. Tom Craddock created a goal for Asante and then Asante helped Tom score two goals. Winners Chester City 1-3.

Airbus match finished 3-3 because They had two penalites and we had Steve Howson sent off. But two goals for Asante and one for Matty Hughes.

The next day I needed to have a word with the lads. I called Efe to bring them in from training and told them" This is pre season, but anyone who isn't giving 100% they are out".

Efe said" Howson could be the one to watch because he thinks he is a superstar. He played for Salford City under the previous managers.

Pre season is nearly over.

We beat Denbigh Town 4-1 with goals from Asante , Craddock and our young player Seth Patrick who scored 2.

The next game was against Grimsby at home it finished with a draw 1-1. Craddock yet again.

With the pre season over we knew we needed a midfielder who had experience of lower league and Higher football. I looked at the free agent list and spoke with a few agents. All kept speaking off Gary Jones but told me he's over 40 but you could get him for just this season. I thought about it long and hard. Then I needed Efe opinion.

Efe and I have a nice relationship growing and he said" Sign him but make him aware he's a backup"

So the next week Gary turned up for training and straight away he showed us two things. 1. Very Skillful for his age.

2. Match fitness is bad

So I knew he isn't going to play 90 mins a game.

The fixtures and results for the start of the season.

Spennymoor Home game 4-1 Win for Chester City(2 Asante) (Seth Patrick) (Roberts )

Curzon Ashton away game 4-4 draw

Blyth Spartans away 2-2

FC United of Manchester home game 3-3

Kidderminster Harriers home game 1-0 win (McKenna)

AFC Telford away 0-2 loss . 3 bookings

Hereford United home game 3-1 win

The table we are 6th from 7 games played

Top spot is Boston United
