HAJDUK SPLIT CONQUERED THE EUROPE

First and only save what i started is with my club Hajduk Split, also known as Bili.
Hajduk did not win Croatian championship since 2005 and for us, supporters, that is painful but we live for that day.
But stop about that let's start about the best save ever.
I started this save in November, but because i have other duties i do not play it regular only when i have time... so for only save in 6 months I passed 6 seasons.
On the beginnig Hajduk have a solid banch of players, some foreigen players (8 allowed non EU players in starting eleven in Croatian league) and very good players from academy.
On the beginning i sold overpaid foreigen players, only left 5 of them, i concetrate on Home-grown players and players from academy.
I started with formation 4-1-4-1 DM.
On the goal was at that time young GK Posavec, on the LB Domagoj Bradaric (19yo), DM Darko Nejasmic (19yo), AP Ante Palaversa (18yo), ST Michele Šego( 17 yo), reserve wingers Darko Spikic (19yo) and Leon Krekovic (17 yo). Couple of experience players like Mijo Caktas, Borja Lopez (ex Barca player), Jairo, Hamza Barry and Adam Gyurczso, Josip Juranovic (team capetain). All of this 'older' players are very good for Croatian league.
The season started very well in championship but in Europe i was knocked out in Playoff against Glasgow Rangers.



At the half of the season i was on the first place.


At the second part of the season Hertha bought Juranovic and i had to buy new right back, youngster from Lokomotiva Fran Karacic. Mijo Caktas got injured for 3 months and i gave more chance to Ante Palaversa and that was awesome decision, youngster had amazing second part of the season. From the south comes the storm in the second part of the season.


Other youngsters also played magnificent Spikic and Krekovic played amazing, Sego had some teriffic moments. And when you need to finish it with style there comes the problems.



I won my first championship ever in first season (i never won it befor in 1st season) in front of my biggist rival Dinamo Zagreb and lost in cup final.

That was the first season. In next part i'll writte about my camapaign in Champions League and fast forward couple of season till 2022./23. season where comes first big Euro succes.

PART 2

First season is done with only 2 in transfers and couole of sold players.



Formation who borught a long wanted championship.


Start of the next season was really good, beat Osijek in Croatian Supercup with 2-0.
Start in championship was also good, couple of victories. We bought some new players and sold couple of yongsters who wanted to leave.


Uremović is brought for the 1st CB and Ivanušec to fill rotation.

In 2nd round of qualifications for Champions League i beat HSK Zrinjski Mostar with 2-0 at home and than 2-0 away. In the next round i beat Slovan Bratislava with 3-1 at home and 0-0 away and than Celtic. First leg was away and we beat Celtic with 4-0 and at home 2-0 victory. In championship stuff is going solid.
And we are in Champions League and than the worst possible group Real Madrid, Liverpool and Inter Milan.

First round at home against Liverpool, Allison saved Reds in 1st half, he saved some 100% chances and they lead at half time. In the 2nd half they took iniciative for a little bit but then Mijo Cakatš decided to solv the game and we win with 2-1.

2nd round Inter away, draw 2-2 lead 1-0, 2-1 but they always came back.
3rd round Real in Madrid, at half time we lead with 1-0 but in 2nd half Real score 2 goals and they scored 2nd goal in 86th minute.

4th round Real in Split. First half they lead with 1-0. In 2nd half i made some changes. In game come Palaversa and he scored 2 goals on 2 Caktas asissts and we beat Real Madrid 2-1.
5th round Reds away, we lost 3-1.
In the last rouund we come as 2nd in the groupe wit 7 points same as Inter one more than Liverpool and 2 less than Real Madrid and we play against Inter home.
And we lose in first half with 1-0, in 2nd half we were better but than judge decided to decide who is going throuhg. Caktas cross from the free kick Borja score clear goal but reff says it is offside and until the end we conceded one more goal and we are out as 4th.


In league we had were 2nd behinde Dinamo Zg. On the winter break i bought couple of players like WInger Menalo from Dinamo, than Bistrović DM and Vuk also Winger from Rijeka. In the second part of the season we played very well but Dinamo played also good so the diference in 3rd month was the same as before winter breake so we fought but it wasn't good enough we finished 2nd behinde Dinamo Zagreb.


Dinamo was world for themself that season and i had also magnificent season with Champions League and 80 points in Croatian league.

Next part will bring new Croatian champion 5th one some new transfers, new tactics and new Europe trip...

PART 3

Season 2020./21.
We make only 2 transfers in the summer window.
Rodrigo Aguirre on loan from Udinese and we brought back Josip Juranovic from Hertha.
Sego is sold for 4 milion € in Leicaster and that's the reason why is Aguirre brought on loan. Except that no major transfers in the summer, only rejected couple of offers for Posavec and Palaversa.

In the season we came as 2n favorits for winnig league.
We started our road in the champions league in non-champion part because as 2n we made Champions league qualifications, Croatia gained one more spot in qualifications.
In 2nd round we beat Nordsjelland with 3-0 (2-0;1-0). Than in 3rd round we beat Marseille with 4-2 (2-1;2-1). And final qualifications round against Porto. First leg at Poljud we win with 4-2, everyone tought it is over we are in Champions league again but than we lost 4-1 away and our dream will continoue in Europa League.

In Croatian League we are playing very well we are in the first position.
Aguirre is scoring playing very well, like everyone else in the team.

In Europa League group we finish 2nd behinde RB Leipzig and in front of Zorya and Olympiakos. We beat Zorya(2-1; 2-1) and Olympiakos(2-0; 2-0), but lost 2 games against RBL (1-3;0-2). And we are moving forward.


In the league we are first in front Osijek and DInamo with 6 point more than Osijek.

In the winter transfer window was very busy. Ante Palaversa want to leave the club and i sell him in RBL for 7,5 mil €. Nikola Moro is brought on loan, we buy 3 youngsters Kulušic CB from Osijek 18yo, Nino Kukovec ST from Maribor and Mollejo winger from Atl. Madrid.



We attack Europe wit couple of new players and in first knockout round we are playing with CSKA Moscow we beat them easely with 9-1(5-0;4-1) and than the club which defeted us allready this season Porto will that be revange.

In the league things are not so good, Osijek is now 1st we botteled our first place with couple of draws.

Porto 2nd knockout round, first macth home and we play 0-0 we were much better but we did not score. Now away things started very well for us we scored for 1-0 but they made comeback and score 2 goals we tried to score 1 more but we couldn't and we are out.


In the league we did not make big progress we are fighting now for 3rd place because Dinamo also overtook us and season is done wit anger and tough feelings, we tried everything but couldn't make any better. The ne Champion is NK OSIJEK, first ever title for them.


Next part will be in couple more days with some big transfer news and some more interesting europe games and new champions in Croatia...

Unlucky twice against Porto..

PART 4

As we finished on the 3rd position i decided to invest in the first team and we had a very busy summer transfer window.
First we signed Andrija Balic, former Hajduk player and kid from academy, than young goalkeeper from Dugopolje Toni Kovac. It was obvious in that moment that Posavec will leave the club and there was 2 goalkeepers to replace him 17yo youngster Prskalo from Academy and Kovac.
Next transfer was youngster from NK Siroki Brijeg - Gojak. Than 2 former players come back for free LB Ivan Strinic and ST Nikola Kalinic, maybe they have 34+ years but they will help, next was Karlo Butic bought for free beacuse he can play as ST and as Winger and last transfer was CB from Brazil 18yo Leston Izaias.


Nobody left during the summer and we were filled on every position.
GK Posavec, Prskalo and Kovac, RB Karacic and Juranovic, LB Bradaric, Strinic and Steliano Filip, CB Uremovic, Izaias, Borja Lopez, Kulusic. In midlefield on DM Nejasmic and Bistrovic CM's Caktas, Balic, Hamza Barry, Ivanusec, Wingers Vuk, Menalo, Mollejo and Krekovic and strikers Kukovec, Butic, Kalinic and Delic.

On the beginnig of the season we had a very good start, we beat first couple of games and we played qualifications for Europa League. We qualified for Europa League pretty easy in 2nd round we beat Alashkert with 6-1(4-0(H);2-1(A)), than Ermis Aradippou with 6-2(3-0(H);3-2(A)) and in playoff Gent with 7-1(5-0(H);2-1(A)). And in the leauge was very good we were on 1st position 1 point in front of the 2nd team.
In the goup stage we were faced with OM(1-2 loss(A),0-0 (H)), U Craiova(2-1(H);0-0(A)), Basaksehir (1-0(A);2-0(H)). We were through as 2nd.


In the league the situation was very good on winter we were 1st.
In the winter transfer window we sold our first GK Posavec to Bayern Munich for 3,4 mil€ and we made some future transfers with players who had there contracts in last 6 months and that was CB Nikola Katic Glasgow Rangers, CM Toma Basic from Bordeaux, WInger Inigo Cordoba from Atl. Bilbao and 2 Croatian youngsters.

On the goal is coming 17yo Branko Prskalo and his replacement is 18yo Toni Kovac.
At that moment in Academy we got few very talented players who could have a big role in future.

In first knockout round of Europa League it's Hajduk and Liverpool, in that moment we did not play well in the league we had few draws and losses and than come Liverpool and destroy us in 2 games.

In that moment we were on 3rd position in the championship and things did not go very well and in that moment i decided to change formations from 4-1-4-1 into 4-4-2 DM Diamond. It's not good to change formation in the middle of the season but i had nothing to lose only to gain for next season. And that would be the best deciosion for the futere club successes.

The formation was GK Prskalo SK, 2 CB defend(Izaias and Uremovic), WB automatic(Bradaric and Karacic), HB defend Nejasmic, BBM Balic, AP Hamza Barry or Ivanusec, AM Caktas and strikers Kukovec on CF and Kalinic on AF.

At the end we finished as 3rd behinde DInamo(1st) and Rijeka (2nd).

The difference between me and 4th gave me space to implement new style in clubs mentality and we couldn't catch Rijeka also because they had big advantage during all spring.

Some great progress being made here, you have been really unlucky a couple of times in Europe too! Done really well to get as far in Europe as you have been doing as well. Nikola Katic will be a great signing for you and may even earn you a big transfer fee in the future too.(Rangers fan)

PART 5

Season 2022/23

As we finished 3rd last season we qualified automaticly for Europa League so the season did not start so early for us this season. Most of the transfers have been done 2 months before the season so in the friendlies i had time to combine that in fantastic groupe of players.

In the summer transfer window we signed CB Nikola Katic (free), CM Toma Basic (free), Inigo Cordoba W (free), 2 Brasilian players who'll be fantastic for us, CB Marcus Vinicius for 8,75 mil € and RB Fabio Luiz for 2,2 mil €.
Also 2 Croatian youngster for free.


We sold RB Juranovic, 2 CB Uremovic and Vucur, Winger Luka Menalo and DM Kristijan Bistrovic. Also chairman sold 19yo ST to Rome Rusmin Gojak.



Every transfer had a plan Juranovic sold instead of him 18yo Brasilian RB Luiz, sold two CB Uremovic and Vucur, brought in Katic and Marcus Vinicius and in club i also have 2 19yo CB Kulusic and Izaias. Sold Menalo in Cordoba. Only did not brought replacement for Gojak because i decided that Kukovec,Kalinic and Butic will be enough and only reason why i did not brought any more ST is that Butic and Kukovec dominated together in friendly matches.
The team is now even younger GK 18 and 19 yo, CB 18,19,19 and Katic 25yo, RB 18 and 25, LB 23,35 yo brought in the first team 17 yo perspective AM Grgic who'll work and get chance eventualy in the game.
First team looked now this GK Prskalo (Kovac) RB Karacic (Luiz) CB Vinicius Izaias (Katic and Kulusic) LB Bradaric (Strinic) DM Nejasmic BBM T. Basic (Ivanusec, Hamza) AP Balic (Ivanusec, Hamza) AM Caktas (Grgic) ST Butic Kukovec (Kalinic Mollejo).

Pre-season was very good, but the shedule for this season was very hard, because WC was in Quatar in the 12th month so in the whole 9th and 10th month we had 2 games per week, league games at Sunday and Europe at Thursday.

We need to have a very good rotation for this season and we had.
First games in the league was tricky , new tactic is working very good.


Than comes the Europe als good group with Sevilla Bate and Genk.

In the league things are very good and in Europe even better beat Sevilla at home and Bate draw against Genk away but i deserved victory over there. There is no rest for players and they are playing better and better.


Beat Bate away and than comes World Cup in Quatar i played some really tough friendlies and that gave me hope that something'll happen in Europe.
WC changed shedule instead of 2 games in knockout round of Europe League in 1st 2 knockout stages it was decided that it will be held only 1 game in Champions League only in 1st knockout stage will be one match after that everything will be normal.


And we finished group as 2nd behind Sevilla and we'll play against calagri away in only one match.

Winter transfer windod
In the team is brought DM from Romani Marcu, but the club left 2 CB Izaias to Bayer and Nikola Katic who wasn't happy in the club so i decided to let him go i had 2 very good CB in that time. Borja Lopez decided to retire due hard injuries. And also couple of perpectiv stoppers left in the club so i was happy with all of this, we earned the money and had a bright perspective. Also younsgter DM Jurica Jelic left the club to join SL Benfica.



At this point of the season youngster Grgic played more and more, Caktas become his replacement and. In the frst knockout stagewe beat Calagri away with 4-0, Kukovec was amazing in that match. And than in 2nd knockout round it was Hajduk- Tottenham at Poljud and at half time it was 1-1 but in secon half Kukovec decided to solv the match and score 2 more goals and lead us to quater finals with 4-1 victory.


At this point of the season i had couple of rounds in league less then Dinamo but also 7 points deficit and 3 more games with them.
And after Tottenham we also beat Dinamo away and we are closer to 1st place.


In quater finals it was Dinamo Kyiv (it can not pass without Dinamo), first leg was away and we draw 3-3 but at home we beat them 2-0 and HAJDUK IS IN THE SEMI FINALS OF EUROPA LEAGUE. wow ..... can not believe in this yet but tactics and everything is workin magnificent, in the league we are couple of pointts behinde 1st place with 2 games less.
In the semis old 'friends' Liverpool, they have team to win Champions League and it become tradition that we need to face each other in every Europe campaigne and they won last years Europa League. This time was no difference, i only can not finde way to beat them the beat me with 4-2 and 4-0. There is no place for disapointment we have couple of rounds left in the league and we are close to win new title.


And WE WINN CROATIAN LEAGUE 2 rounds before the end of the season and in last 2 rounds i put my youngsters from 2nd team who won 2nd Croatian League and they deserve these games and i prepered my team for the Cup FInal against Dinamo and we WIN THE CROATIAN CUP. 2 titles this season, everything is back in Split.




Next season is the 2023/24., some new faces in the team and Champions league we are back and we come very silent and we'll make some noise.

PART 6

Season 2023/24

As the champions we are directly qualified for Champions League and with money earned from some transfers and reaching semi-finals of Europa Leauge we are abel to make a some moves in summer transfer window.

First players who left the club:
-Mijo Caktas- left the club on free, he was 30+ years old in that time and wanted much bigger contract and for me that was unacceptable because i have in team 17 year old wonderkind Grgic on his position.
Than Steliano Filip LB also 30yo left on free and Adam Gyurcso also left on free.
RB Fran Karacic left the club and moved to Huddersfield.
Near the end of the transfer window 3 more players left the club Marcu moved to RB Leipzig, Marko Kamenar young Winger moved to SL Benfica and Inigo Cordoba left the club and moved to Espanyol.
And Nikola Kalinic retiered at the end of the last season, at least he won Championship at the end of his careere with his team where he started his careere.



Players who join pur club:
-First big transfer was joining Edin Dzeko on free, yes he is 36yo but he can make big contriutin to this young squad.
-Than we brought on loan Ante Coric (AM,CM) and in his contract he had also buy fee, and Brasilian CB on loan 20yo Raffael Alana.
-Young 17yo Croatian Winger Vratovic.
-For rhe Full back positions: on the left back is brought Petar Bockaj and on the RB Tin Hrvoj on loan from Roma with buy fee option.
-On CB is also brought U21 Italy player Lora, young and perpective.
-Also young CB is brought from Osijek but he is left on loan in Osijek for one more season.
-At the end of transfer window in club is brought young Czech International player Radek Halas.


The first problem was with Marcus Vinicius who didn't want new contract bt eventually he signed new contract and than we start with preseason.
Preseason was very good, couple of hard oponents.


Starting lineup looked like this: GK Prskalo LB Bradaric CB Kulusic CB M. Vinicius RB Luiz DM Nejasmic (Halas) BBM T. Basic AP Balic AM Grgic STL Butic STR Kukovec (4-4-2 DM Diamond). With substitutions on each position. Back up players (they are not back up players but they are in rotation because of hard season they all have big contribution) GK Kovac CB's Allan and Lora RB Hrvoj LB Bockaj and Strinic DM Halas CM's Ivanusec, Hamza Barry and Ante Coric on AM Ante Coric and Ivanusec, ST's Dzeko, Mollejo and Wingers Vuk and Ismet Alic.

Season started very good with 5W and 1D in first 6 games in the league only draw was against NK Sibenik (who is my dark horse for the whole game).
Very important victory on Dinamo before international breake 3-2 in Zagreb. And at this point we draw a group for Champions League and it was Man United, Napoli, Shakhtar and Hajduk. Very tough groupe.


First game after breake was against Osijek and we draw that game it was played away. After that the game against Man. United away and we started in 4-2-3-1 formation but it did not looked very well. United played in 5-2-3 formation and made big troubles and scored in first half so on HT it was 1-0 for them and i decided on half time to change formation in 4-4-2 DM Diamond and we have iniciative and in 70th minute in game comes Edin Dzeko and in 80th minute he scored for 1-1. Ent the game ended with 1-1, Napoli Shakhtar alos played 2-2.

At this moment i saw we can make trough this groupe.
After United we beat Rijeka at home 4-2.


Next Champions League game was with Shakhtar at home and we led through the whole game but they always scored an eaquliaser at the end of the bot halfs and we played 2-2.
In league we continoue with W and next round was Napoli at home, we destroyed them, they had no chance we beat them 2-0.


Then new derby against Dinamo but this time in Croatian Cup in 2nd round and we beat them 2-1.
Then we beat Sibenik and we are going to Napul to play against Napoli, we are much better opponent and we made so many chances but their GK had terrific night and in 88th minute it is penalty for us with this goal and W we are 95% through in this stage of group and Dzeko took the ball but Napoli GK save it and it is 0-0. Good result but not good enogh so in the league Dragovoljac conceded 7 goals against us in next round.
After that United at Poljud. They score in 1st half, we are much better they had few chances and in the 2nd half we start very aggresive and in 65th minute Balic fall down in 16 meters box and it's penalty, Dzeko take the ball but De Gea save it and we had few chances but De Gea had perfect night and we lost 1-0, but result from next game was good for us and we are through the group as 2nd team.


Next couple of games was not good for us we lost next 2 and draw 1 only vicotry comes in Cup 1/4 finals befor winter breake. We lost at Shakhtar at the last game in group stage of Champions League.


Winter transfer window
We bought ST Ryan Cassidy, Czech wonderkind AM Jiri Svec 18yo, perpective 17yo Croatian striker from Zadar Ante Kovac, and 18yo Brasilian CM Pauo Henrique.
The club left Ismet Alic for 6 mil € (bought only for 100k€ from Lokomotiva)


2nd part of the season

We were placed in 1st knockout round against Hoffenheim 1s game will be in Split at Poljud, 2nd will be away.
But first we have games in home championship.
We beat Varazdin, Gorica and Inter Zapresic in Croatian League without conceding a goal. And than 1st game of knockout stage at home against Hofenheim. It was a very hard game with a chances from both sides but we take a win 3-0.

Than in league more and more victories, we did not lose a single game in February and more important we did not concede a goal.


March brought us first game against Dinamo in Zagreb at Maksimir and we beat them 1-0 before we leave Croatia for away game against Hoffenheim.
And in away game we scored in 1st half Karlo Butic scored for 1-0 and we played after that defensively and they attacked but they need to score 5 goals and eventually they score bur that was all the way at the end, We are through the 1st knockout round with 4-1(3-0;1-1).

Next opponent will be again from Germany, reining champions Bayer 04 Leverkusen, 1st game Split, 2nd game in Germany in Leverkusen.

In the league 3 hard games and 3 big W against Osijek, Lokomotiva and Rijeka.


Than couple of more W and it comes that day Champions LEague 1/4 finals leg 1 at Poljud. My scouts made a great scouting and the biggist problem in their game was their Full Backs and my tactic was to play through the middle because i have superior in middle and that my FB overrun all the time and ti become even easier when LB Wendell make a foul for red card in 1st minute. Andrija Balic scored for the 1-0 in 6th minute, we are much better Bradaric and Luiz make so many problems to their full backs but at the half time it is only 1-0 but HT talk make so big contribution and Balic scores one more time in 46th minute. In 57th minute Kukovec scores for 3-0 and in 59th minute M Vinicius scores for 4-0.
It's so unreal we are destroying German champion and last season Champions League semi finalist. In 77th minute 18yo Grgic scores for 5-0. But they score for 5-1 and game ended 5-1, we are one tiny step from the semi finals, in other 1/4 finals Barca was beaten 4-0 that was also so unexpectable.

In the league we beat Inter with '2nd' team because next week is against Bayer but away, we played very brave game against them Butic missed some chances but we concede goal in 23th minute. They need 5 more goals but they will not score them, Prskalo (18yo GK) saved us in few chances and that was all from this leg we are trough we are in semi finals against Barcelona who make big comeback and beat them at home with 6-1 (it was PSG again ).

In the lauge no many changes we are going to take new championship, wnd in a row. Scouts are sent to scout Barcelona and they also have problems with full backs and concede goals from free kicks.


First we beat Dragovoljac and then lost against Dinamo, but against Dinamo it was not the best team played but we need to win this with or without the best players.

And than comes Barcelona at Poljud. Tactic for tem was play trough the middle, RB overrun all the time LB more defensive. Left side of the pitch was more defensive but right side was more for crativity and attacking as you can see from tactical graph (picture below).

Coric is in the middle with one reason make more balls for right back.

And the game started very well just i expected they attack over my felt side butt there is wall in the shape of Bradaric, Balic, Halas and Kulusic.
In 18th minute 18yo Czech player who can play on ST and this game play instead Kukovec who is injured scores for 1-0 on Fabio Luiz(RB) asist, unbeliable Hajduk is leading against Barcelona in semi finals. Stadium is on fire players play even better and in the 39th minute balic make asist for Butic and he scores for 2-0, even better. HT 2-0 for Hajduk, Barcelona is in knockdown we need to finish them and i tell my players just to continoue where they stopped.
And it contionus in the same way but this time Svec asist to Fabio Luiz for 3-0, Gaya is overrun. And in 89th minute Edin Dzeko scores for 4-0, 4-0, on Grgic's asist. What a game. We was unstopable. Tactic was perfect, players played perfect game.


In the league we beat Sibenik and than it comes the 2nd leg of semis, Barca need early goal and we know that they made comeback last round, but they won't this.
They score in first half for 1-0, we have also chances but Ter Stegen is terrific, he make saves on Butic. And we lost 1-0, Ter STegen is PoM and WE ARE IN CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FINAL, Hajduk is in champions league final.


We lost next game agains Osijek in the league but we can allready confirme title in Croatia in next fixtures.


The final will be against Chelsea in Moscow.
Hajduk is in Champions League final. Scouts are making reports about Chelsea, they beat Man City in semis.

We win Croatian Cup and last 2 games in the league and we confirmed title and that was good, we are warming for the final in Moscow at Luzniki.




Now Chelsea, my biggist game ever, i had never been befor in the champions league final. Tactic was to stop their wingers and focus on crosing and free kicks and work ball in box.

The final game comes. This was formation in finals. (Grgic got injury after final)


*in the final i watched the game with the room full of my friends from the flor in the dorm it was hectic in room also it was cheering through the whole game*

I was in my standard 4-4-2 DM DIamond.
The game started, Chelsea play in 4-2-3-1 and they make pressure on the start they have a chance from free kick but Prskalo saves it, after taht butic comes 1on1 with Kepa but Butic miss the whole goal, after that Chelsea attcak more and the miss also a very good chance from 16 meters and the HT is 0-0, in 2nd half we come in with courage but Coric and Butic are playing very bad and ther change was fast forward with the goal in 53th minute, Chelsea scores for 1-0, oh it's final i already think it's good do not be worry it's not bad if u lose, but i decided to change butic for Dzeko and Coric for Kukovec, Svec is moved to AP RCM position.
