Somehow I've managed to put Jude Bellingham on 325,000 a week. Sure I signed him in 1stcseason on a youth contract. Maybe I've got automatic renewals on for youth team players. Two questions. Why would a young player ask for so much? And why would a clubs board sanction such a wage? I'd like to keep the player but it's a lot of money. Probably also has something to do with all my senior players wanting 250 or 300k a week allof a sudden. I'm playing as Liverpool and have been pretty successful. Cleaned up 1st season.

Check your staff responsibilities for youth contract renewals.
A young player i guess can ask for so much depending on there status ie PA/Wonderkid type status or whatever you've promised ie Key Player etc. It's not uncommon for the team to keep best players, I am sure there is a way to cap your youth team salarys is there not? if not then your set wage budget will accommodate all players who are on a professional contract.
Also are you handling these negotiations yourself? as with any fm game i have played if you do the contract talks yourself you get proper fleeced, but if you've a DOF then the salary demands are way more realistic
