How do you defend against long shots?

Ignoring the fact that conceding a 30 yarder every match is unrealistic (especially in the conference), when my assistant gives me a big red thumbs down saying that we're conceding too many long shots - what am I supposed to do about it?

You don't let players shoot - it's basic defending, how can i tell my players to close down the shot? 30 yards out in the conference?

Using double-pivot at DM is the best way to block long shot and cutting inside.
