Windows 7: Genie Scout Doesn't Open STILL

Hello everyone!

I am running Windows 7 Ultimate x86 (32-bit) and have been trying to open this frustrating program for about 3 days now. Recently, today, I stumbled upon the fact that you needed to update your Adobe Flash to get the program to work.

I went to the OFFICIAL ADOBE site for Flash and downloaded and successfully installed the newest version of Adobe Flash, yet I am still experiencing the exact same problems as before.

Basically, when I double click on the .exe for Genie Scout, it never shows up on the screen. If I was to track it's progress in Windows' "task manager", it shows me that it is taking up around 21,000 K of Memory on my computer, but this only shows for a couple of seconds before it closes all together.

So I must ask if I am doing something wrong. I saw the thread where I have to go to "Windows/System32/whatever/whatever" and double clicked the only .exe I found in that folder, but then it asked me if I wanted to uninstall Adobe Flash, not if I wanted to update...

Is there anyone that can lend me anymore specificity to fixing this issue? It's really beginning to get very frustrating, so I'm hoping that somebody can help me out!

Thanks!

PS: I'm totally new to football (where I am we call it Soccer and I've only slowly started getting into it since watching the World Cup finals this summer...the only player I know is the USA's starting goalie [I don't even know his name, haha!] and that's because he has the same disability that I do, so if anyone can recommend some tactics for me to use (I'm playing as some really cruddy team in Russia's lowest league or something who get an average of 200 people in attendance per game) that'd be great!)

Thanks once again!
Welcome aboard mate :)

Have you tried this?

You just started playing FM2010? For a couple of tactics you can use, take a look here.

Thank you for the quick reply!

I read through the first post of the thread that you linked and checked my control panel's program lists. The old version of Adobe Flash wasn't listed--just the version that I installed today. I uninstalled, though, and restarted, and then tried to see if a new clean installation would work and NOTHING'S changed.

This is getting so frustrating. Is there anything else that I can do??? Am I misunderstanding something? Does the Genie Scout folder have to be placed in the FM10 Directory, or can it be anywhere???

What else can I do to help fix this problem?? Thanks!
The Genie Scout folder doesn't have to be placed in the FM10 directory, it can be placed anywhere really.

If the Flash workaround didn't do you any good, make sure that you run the program after extracting the .zip archive anywhere.

You can also try:
- Run Windows Update and update Java
- Run the application as administrator
- Check if Windows Firewall is blocking the application from running

Other than that, I'm out of ideas, sorry.

None of these things have worked. Is there a staff member or something that I can contact for further support or something?

OR, is there a previous version of this program that has worked without this stupid Adobe Flash glitch? I'm wondering if I was to download a previous version, would it work? I'm not even running patch 10.3, haha, I'm still on 10.0, so it's fine, I would think, if it can work on my computer, haha! :P
Err, you can try RC 1 - download here or RC 2 - download here

There's no other staff member you contact for further support. FM2011 demo should be out soon, so most people would be playing that instead of FM2010... in fact most people already abandoned FM2010, and are waiting for FM2011.

Hey, just wanted to thank you a bunch, man! The RC 1 version of the file is working perfectly! I didn't even test RC 2, haha, but thanks a bunch, man! :D
Glad I could ultimately help you mate :)
Hello Everyone!

I've the same problem. I use Win 7 64 bits, and when I try to open Genie Scout, the program simply don't run at all.

I've updated Flash and Java, and the problem resists.

Version RC1 of the Scout open, but isn't able to read my Save Game (Database error)

What are causing this? Why previous versions run and up-to-date version don't Start at all?

With Vista 32 bits, Genie opens just fine.
Eugene is the only one that could answer that. If the known workarounds don't work for you, then you are out of luck, sorry mate :(

On the bright side, FM11 demo has just been released on Steam... and I believe the new Genie Scout for FM11 should arrive sooner or later.

Yes, but I'm sad beacause of loosing all that I've achieved (sorry for my English) ;)

Added 13 minutes later:

Stam, RC 1 and RC 2 run, but the "Unknown Database Version Error: 1404" apear... Any soluction? Or only the most-recent Genie could solve that? (Remember that the Last Genie Does Not Oppen in my system)

RC 1 and RC 2 don't work with your savegame because they are not compatible with 10.3 patch.
I already told you that if the known workarounds don't wory for you, then you are out of luck. And by the way, what is this nonsense about losing all that you've achieved? There's no loss involved in using or not using Genie Scout, with your savegame that is.
