I understand your frustration and will try to address the memory usage issue. Unfortunately, the GS is based on a quite outdated framework, and the only option to fix this is to completely rewrite the app from scratch. It would require a few months of full-time work which I can't afford, unfortunately.
I'm doing my best to keep it up-to-date. The staff area has been updated completely for the GS 21, including the new attributes, new staff roles, and the rating system has been revamped. Can you please clarify what exactly attributes you've been missing?
Player roles also have been updated completely last year, once fix the current issue will check what's missing for FM 21 as well.
Thanks for the response. - it is honestly appreciated, especially as I was rather critical of the past years updates.
It makes sense that the application might still be based on 32-bit architecture if the underlying framework has not had a complete overhaul in some time. It's a shame that this isn't something that you're in a position to update, but I understand that family life and life in general must take priority.
It would be nice if there was a way to manage larger game files that include the maximum player database size, but I understand that due to the limitations this may simply not be possible. It is just a shame as it works fort a short while but then seems to crash. Hopefully you can find a solution.
In terms of the staff, it was the newly added roles and attributes that had been missing for some time, such as sports science, player and team analysis, judging staff, negotiating, etc. The lack of these made the tool only partly useful when it comes to searching for staff. Hopefully with the updated version for FM21 these will be included to cover all staff roles and attributes in the game.
Once the public version is available I will take a look at the changes, and if there is sufficient improvements and I can see an attempt has been made to make it relevant to the latest game, then you can count on my renewed financial support. It's a superb utility, and one that I hope to be able to support. once more.
Thank you for your honest opinion and constructive criticism, appreciate it.
Yes, it's based on 32-bit architecture and relies on many components not compatible with x64. It requires a massive amount of work to switch to a newer version. If I'm able to find time for this, I'll definitely update it. I'm not satisfied with the current loading time and memory requirements as well.
Just for your information, I perform thorough testing on my 2 workstations, and it works perfectly on a database of any sizes. To collect data for the GS STATS I simulate a few games created on the entire 340k players' database and have never experienced an 'Out-of-Memory' issue (16 GB and 32 GB RAM). So I suppose it depends on the system configuration to some extent, 16 GB RAM should be sufficient in general.
As I mentioned, the Staff area has been already updated. You can check it in the ads-free version which is already available. Moreover, I'm planning to implement staff shortlists later this year, which should make the search even more convenient.
Also, quite a big improvement is a possibility to search by potential attribute values, which is also new for the GS 21.
Regarding the public version, it lacks a lot of features/improvements contained in the full version. Of course, it will include an updated staff area and other changes. However, it's not 100% fair to make conclusions on the tool progress based on the free version functionality.
