Hey. This problem are with Genie Scout 20 v1.0 20.4.1 Beta 25

I have a save DB with +370k players and when i try and load my save into Genie Scout. it begins loading but ends up with a error saying "Out of memory"
Having same problem with +370k.
This is because you don't have enough "RAM". This is memory for storage which is fast to access and is deleted every time your computer shuts down. With that many player you are loading, the GS20 needs to store ALL of the 370k+ player data into memory. Your computer likely doesn't have enough RAM to store the data. If you run other applications while playing FM, stop running them. If you don't have enough Ram to begin with, lower the number of leagues.

I have 16 GB RAM, and 6 GB empty with Genie Scout. That's why I wonder why do I have the problem.
I ran through the maths, and with 370k players and 6gb memory free, this leaves you with 16kb per player. I would ask Stam/Eugene for either: help, or an estimate of the amount of ram needed per player or for that many players.
I have 32GB ram, and i have 21GB free. I will try and contact Stam.
I also get this with all 371k+ players loaded, with 16GB of RAM. When viewing task manager, genie only appears to be using 1702MB RAM after the initial load. Once you perform a search and then start viewing players or staff members, it is then that the RAM usage increases, and it seems to give the OOM error once past 1750MB usage, while I still had 48% RAM available. I have been able to reproduce this several times.

All this time, FM is using around 2364MB of RAM, so definitely has room to use more.

Sounds like the way the utility has been written has a maximum memory limit that it can access.
Watching the memory usage, it appears it might also have a memory leak as the usage slowly increases over time with no actions being undertaken in the utility. This could explain why I have witnessed the OOM error without even performing a search while keeping it open in the background for a short while.

Sadly, this seems to be yet another sign of the deterioration of the Genie Scout utility over the past several years, which has resulted in me no longer paying to support the utility while it seems Eugene collects the prfits but no long provides on-going support of introduces new features. How long do we have to wait for the new staff attributes, or player roles to be added for instance? This tool is seriously behind the times and gradually loosing its use. Happy to be proved wrong, but I wouldn't expect this to be fixed, or for any of those features to be added to Genie 21...
I have the same problem but it only appears to happen around the transfer windows, which is when you need it the most. When I wait a few in-game months Genie Scout seems to work fine again.
I have the same problem, I have 64Go RAM, a new PC for gamer
I don't know why we have no solution for months
Same issue here, any suggestions?
Genie Scout is a 32bit program which means that it can only use 2GB of RAM regardless of how much you have available.

Genie Scout 20g uses 28MB just started. After loading my latest game with 63k players Genie Scout uses 460MB of RAM in total. Extrapolate the difference 432MB for 63k players to 371k players will make it use 2544MB, so there is a chance that it's just to big of a save file to handle.

I understand your frustration and will try to address the memory usage issue. Unfortunately, the GS is based on a quite outdated framework, and the only option to fix this is to completely rewrite the app from scratch. It would require a few months of full-time work which I can't afford, unfortunately.

I'm doing my best to keep it up-to-date. The staff area has been updated completely for the GS 21, including the new attributes, new staff roles, and the rating system has been revamped. Can you please clarify what exactly attributes you've been missing?

Player roles also have been updated completely last year, once fix the current issue will check what's missing for FM 21 as well.

Thanks for the response. - it is honestly appreciated, especially as I was rather critical of the past years updates.

It makes sense that the application might still be based on 32-bit architecture if the underlying framework has not had a complete overhaul in some time. It's a shame that this isn't something that you're in a position to update, but I understand that family life and life in general must take priority.
It would be nice if there was a way to manage larger game files that include the maximum player database size, but I understand that due to the limitations this may simply not be possible. It is just a shame as it works fort a short while but then seems to crash. Hopefully you can find a solution.

In terms of the staff, it was the newly added roles and attributes that had been missing for some time, such as sports science, player and team analysis, judging staff, negotiating, etc. The lack of these made the tool only partly useful when it comes to searching for staff. Hopefully with the updated version for FM21 these will be included to cover all staff roles and attributes in the game.

Once the public version is available I will take a look at the changes, and if there is sufficient improvements and I can see an attempt has been made to make it relevant to the latest game, then you can count on my renewed financial support. It's a superb utility, and one that I hope to be able to support. once more.

Thank you for your honest opinion and constructive criticism, appreciate it.

Yes, it's based on 32-bit architecture and relies on many components not compatible with x64. It requires a massive amount of work to switch to a newer version. If I'm able to find time for this, I'll definitely update it. I'm not satisfied with the current loading time and memory requirements as well.

Just for your information, I perform thorough testing on my 2 workstations, and it works perfectly on a database of any sizes. To collect data for the GS STATS I simulate a few games created on the entire 340k players' database and have never experienced an 'Out-of-Memory' issue (16 GB and 32 GB RAM). So I suppose it depends on the system configuration to some extent, 16 GB RAM should be sufficient in general.

As I mentioned, the Staff area has been already updated. You can check it in the ads-free version which is already available. Moreover, I'm planning to implement staff shortlists later this year, which should make the search even more convenient.

Also, quite a big improvement is a possibility to search by potential attribute values, which is also new for the GS 21.

Regarding the public version, it lacks a lot of features/improvements contained in the full version. Of course, it will include an updated staff area and other changes. However, it's not 100% fair to make conclusions on the tool progress based on the free version functionality.

I've just had a look at 20g, and I notice that some of the roles have been added, but not the crucial attributes for certain roles.

Missing Attributes:
Sports Science

Judging Staff Ability
Negotiating

Judging Player Data
Judging Team Data
Presenting Data
*Note: Since combined into just Analysing Data in FM21

I also noted that some of the staff are listed with the incorrect role, such as a Data Analyst being listed as Sports Scientist. Presumably the attributes were mixed up.
