This might be a bit basic but I'm not really sure whether or not I'm meant to listen to my assistant manager. When it comes to before the match, during the match and anything else I'm not really sure if I'm meant to listen to them. Often they recommend I do things that would pretty much completely alter the tactic I'm trying to use so I'm reluctant to do what they have said. I only really listen to them when they tell me to mark a specific player during a game but that's pretty much it. Should I listen to them or not?
The short answer is no, not at all.
You can be unbeaten all season they will tell you to change your entire team lineup and tactics.
So no, however..
I set the assistant to do opposition instructions for me, saves me doing it, and they do it fine and update it through the match automatically.
They will occasionally give you a team talk that you hadn't considered that can be good, so I will listen to them then and always do this on dressing room:
Read their advice
Make my decision based on their advice, whether I use it or not, deliver my general team talk
Click Ask Assistant as they'll often deliver individual team talks eg. no pressure, been unlucky, played well, etc. that I wouldn't have thought of
End Team Talk
Obviously some of their training advice and staff recommended things between games is worth reading, but just use your own common sense with them based on what YOU want from your team short / long term as well.
So there are layers to it, for sure, but don't let it get to you or stress you out lol.
They will tell you to change everything just to have you play exactly as they would, this is not where they're strong as a tool.
