"Failed to load Football Manager data"

So, I already checked the FAQ and some other topics but could not find a solution for this problem.

I'm running the latest Steam version and am not opted in into the beta branch.

FM was just updated this morning so because it was updated both FMSE and Genie need to be updated as well. Both teams are currently working on an update so that you are able to upload the data accordingly. The timeline is over the next couple of days.

Will this also apply for the new free FM20 game from Epic Games?

Yes this will apply for the EPIC Games download of FM.
