Hi all,

I have created this tactic and have been using it half a season so far and it is very hit and miss.

I am using it in all 3 tactic slots, but still can't get consistency. Can anyone suggest any tweaks I can make to this to improve consistency please?
I can see what you are trying to do here but i personally dont think you will have long-term success with your set up and playing style \ system.

Later i can write more but there are some key areas that you have missed.
Of course, i respect that you like to win and have tasted success with the team you have now so its just my opinion about what i would change.

Formation:

Very unbalanced set-up i would change:
1. Both winger to attack not have one for support.
2. AP ....he would be with attack not support.
3. BBM... not needed you already have a good enough number in attack. change to AP support.
4. DLP change to defend.

This would creat more logical space and get more players into the box. PLus you need someone (DLP - defend) to recycle the ball and hold the middle for you.

Left FB ...good
Right CWB ....i would change this to FB so that the defense has balance and is symmetrical.

Tactics:
Time waste - sometimes
Tempo - standard
Passing directness - standard or more direct
Dribbling - runat defenses
Creative freedom - Be more expressive.

This would allow your wingers to really express themselves and give creative freedom to playmakers. Players need to rest and they are not machines. For better fitness, give timewasting to sometimes.

Also i had a quick look at your goal keeper distribution.... its long throws but over the defense ....try long kicks and over the defense, that should be better.

If you trust your defenders to play, then ask them to play out from the back but i think that style creates a lot of problems if you have the wrong players in your team.
I prefer to distribute to play-makers or go long, with my fast players. Also i play through the middle or wingers.

My philosophy is that attackers attack, and defenders defend. That is the primary objective.

As i said, i respect your team but i could see some changes to compliment it better in my opinion.

Sorry i just saw the goalkeeper distribution again ...its to full-back with long throws.

Not my style but that works as a combination so that is ok.

Your high defensive line is very dangerous and you have not set any tackling instructions for your players either.

You have a super high intensity system which must creat stress, injuries and general tiredness on the players. Does your squad suffer from lots of injuries? Is your squad big enough to rotate players?

Hi Hendy,

Thank you for your reply and suggestions.

Yes I get a lot of tiredness and a few injuries, squad wise is good so I can rotate.

I'm going to implement them now and give it a try. Thank you mate

Like Hendy I would make some changes here as well.

Starting with your centre mid think of it as a number 6 & number 8. You want a number 6 sitting helping the defence & transition and a number 8 supporting the front 4.

So your number 6 can be one of 3 roles DLPD, BWMD or CMD. All 3 are 'sitting' roles. Personally I don't like more than two play makers so I would make this role BWMD or CMD. I like my number 6 to be the destroyer.

Next to him in the number 8 role you have your supporting playmaker. He can be a DLPS, APS or RPM. All three are the centre mid playmaking roles.

On the wings I would go for either IW's or Wingers on support. I don't like my wingers or wide midfielders on attack duty. Your no.10 needs an attacking role. Either APA, AMA, SS or T. I would choose either APA or AMA. Your striker should be AF or a Poacher.

Playmaking roles are ball magnets, you don't want more than two in your system. Sometimes only one is sufficient, particularly at lower levels.

Defensively I hate BPD's and playing out from the back, I would turn it off and make then CB's. The fullbacks need to have more defensively minded responsibility in a 4-2-3-1. Have them as FBS or WBD. FBD is probably too defensive.

TI wise I would play with a high LOE & Defensive line (one off the top on both) with Positive or Attacking mentality. Time waste would be sometimes & pressing would be one off the highest. Regroup and counter press I would leave as neutral.

Tempo would be high, passing would be short, dribbling is neutral & creative freedom more expressive.

Oppo TI's are off but I would ask my number 10 to man mark their most creative centre mid or deepest lying mid every game. If oppo are playing with a AF I would set my centre back on that side to Cover.
Hi Si49,

thank you for your reply,

I will copy the tactic and add your suggestions. Will see how they go..

I will update once I have given both suggestions a good try out.

Thank you both again
Don't take my word for word, they are my base set up's or my ideas. I tweak in game a lot dependant on what I see.

Hendy's system or ideas have just as much merit as mine, he knows his stuff. We both have the same 'vision' if you like. Defenders defend, attackers attack... etc. We both like a balance in midfield.

My dislike for ball playing defenders and inside forwards is just my preference, these aren't game breakers.

Just as a general rule with nearly every formation I see it is too attacking. You can't always have the ball, no matter who you are. Sure it's fun beating the lower sides but when you come up against the big boys and your attacking set up gets picked apart you are left scratching your head why your great attacking system didn't work.

A balanced set up is what you need, one which you can change with your own versatility for your opposition. There are times you have to defend, no matter who you are.
