What is the individual training about? Does the players with individual training still do the normal training as well or does it take them out of the normal schedules? I am confused by this.
It looks like it's a training option where you can give a specific attribute or two a boost, takes up 10% of training workload while keeping them on their other training schedule
Can be quite dangerous to use if your trainers and facilities aren't that good.
Your players are more likely to improve in general if you don't give them a specific focus.
E.g.: A player practicing a preferred move and a specific attribute will be working at a 70% work-rate on the normal schedule.
I've found that this is not good for players in the development face, at least not for lower league teams without the necessary facilities and staff to boost training.

EDIT:
Seems to be good for older players that needs to keep up physical attributes though, they shouldn't be practicing pref. moves anyway and so a focus on e.g. agility, wont hurt their regular training much, which they don't need as much as the younger players do anyway...

Am I making any sense or am I just rambling here?
Makes sense. I've been playing in League 2 with adequate facilities and average staff, I had match prep set high to increase familiarity with my formation and this took up 40% of training workload. Like this I noticed no improvement with players profiles at all. It wasn't till half way through the season that I switched match prep to very low, 10% and after that I noticed players were starting to improve with 80% or 90% focus on normal training.
As I am playing FM2011 right now and I see that one of my players has:
70% of schedual training
20% of match preparation and
10% of individual focus.
Thanks guys that all makes sense, i suppose its down to the individual players really and what as a manager i want out of them.

Good point. What you really need is to strike a balance.
Especially at lower leagues where getting your players CA up asap.
Aiming for around 80% normal training quota seems optimal.
Again, as Paul just said, it depends on the individual player.

Man, I really love the new training options in FM!
They certainly offer some flexability with the training and new decisions to make. So far(only two games proper) My team have done great, They won some of the friendly games by many goals(8-0 the best) and played well and I think this was due to me upping the match preperation and giving them all individual training which was maybe not the best idea but perhaps it paid off and made for a great start to the season.
Yeah - that's another point.
Match prep is important for winning games here and now.
Training is important for young players and their future development.

Depending on what you need you'll need to strike a balance.
I'm still toying around with it, but as I usually play lower league teams winning now apposed to a bit of building-up is usually not preferable .
At the moment my stevenage team in english L2 are still doing fab in 5th pos when there meant to be relagation meterial. Training wise i have dropped any individual training but i am using the match prep all the time but varying it based upon how i feel my team is playing and the opposition. Still lots to learn though in time.
I found the individual training a great help, with both older and younger players. jonathan Fortune went on to become a key player for me after I put him on a routine to improve his composure.
does individual training actually improves that specific attribute? e.g:
if a players tackling potential attribute is 15 (on genie), it can improve to be 17?!

or it only gives him a momentarily boost while he is on that training, but its impossible for him to maximize his P.A.?

cheers!
from what i've noticed in how my regens develop, the individual training focus only seems to target that stat and move it towards its maximum PA quicker. i've never managed to get positioning on some of my wingbacks past a certain point whilst all the other stats still seem to advance.
It can get the certain atribute you are focused on higher then it shows on genie with max PA,i've managed to get Fábio's (MU) stamina to 13,even tho genie said it will only go up to 11 :-)
thanks @dawon, thats what i was hoping to hear :D

new possibilities will now be explored!

keep FMing!
