How come when i agree a deal with a player and offer a contract with the next availability, it says the transfer will go through January 2022, why not the summer? what am i missing?

You need to provide more data. How old is the player? Most players are not allowed to be transferred before they reach 18 so this might be the case for you, player not being at least 18 in summer window.

Maybe you are trying to sign a player for the end of contract date, which being the case for couple of countries, like Norway, Finland, Brazil etc.

Another issue could be that you are trying to sign an under-18 player from South America or Africa, where there are restrictions. Transfer of a player from such leagues is allowed to European leagues, only once the player turns 18, so even if you do agree on the deal, the transfer would only happen when your relevant transfer window opens after the player turns 18.
