BREAKING: Tesla Motors acquires ownership of Swindon Town, USL Dunkerque & CF Fuenlabrada

Elon Musk owned Tesla Motors has today acquired the ownership of three football clubs - putting to bed endless rumours of the tycoon's interest in football club ownership.

The first to be announced was the acquisition of Sky Bet League One outfit Swindon Town, following the company's move into a previously owned Honda site in the area. It is thought that during visits to the site, Musk spoke to locals and gained a real feel for Swindon - deciding to purchase the club outright.

Founded in 1879, The Robins currently play their games at The Energy Check Country Ground.

The 1969 League Cup winners have been in the Premier Division once in their history, during the 1993/94 season. The closest they have come to any other silverware in their history was in 1911, when the club finished runner-up in the English Community Shield.

It was announced just a few hours later that another club would be united under the Tesla Motor banner, French Ligue 2 side USL Dunkerque.

Founded in 1954, Les Maritimes recently achieved promotion to the French second division after a strong performance in the French National Division last season. They currently play their games at Stade Marcel-Tribut.

There was an an announcement more recently too, within the last half-an-hour, that Tesla Motors had also acquired Spanish Segunda Division side CF Fuenlabrada.

Los Kirikos, who host a fierce rivarly with Leganés and Alcorcón, were founded in 1975 and won the Spanish Third Tier in 2019. This is perhaps the least successful side that Elon Musk's money will support.

There are currently rumours that Tesla Motors is looking to acquire a German 3. Liga side too, and will complete a quadruple acquisition of clubs ranging across the European continent to follow the model of Red Bull's introduction to football.

In a press release from Tesla, it is stated that discussions are ongoing with a number of unnamed clubs. There was also information regarding an affiliate status between the three newly-purchased clubs.

More to follow.
