I've played FM for years, my favourite bit is developing real young players at the start of the game and then developing regens 3/4 years into my career. On previous football managers you could keep regens on the bench and give them 30 mins game time and they will still develop and progress. But on this FM I feel like if I don't start my youngsters they don't develop at all or at a really really slow pace. Even sending players out on loan they stagnate or don't improve at all. Is there something new in FM 22 I don't know about with regards to developing young players. I am Liverpool in my save and how am I suppose to start a 18/19 year old every game and get wins or win trophy's. Anyone else think this game develops youngsters far too slowly or just doesn't improve youngsters at all?

AFAIK they did tone down the player development this year, because in previous versions you could have the best player in the world at age 21 if you were smart about it. They tweaked the numbers this year to prevent that, as it wasn't realistic. I've definitely noticed that the "bringing them on in the last 30 minutes" doesn't work (as well) anymore, but I'm seeing plenty of development from loaning them out.
Development rate has been decreased this year. You can also "missing" wonderkid (-s) to reflect real life. Having a squad of 18 years old with -10 or 180 PA and when they turn 21 to have a nearly first XI with 200 CA is not realistic. It's welcoming tweak this for me.

Now a player need to play good across every stage of his career until 24, where in that age 90% have hit their PA or it's very close to do it.

Still need to have high: Ambition, Determination and Professionalism.
Brilliant, cheers for the reply. I will try to loan out more of my youngsters then rather than keeping them on the bench. Also dont think its that unrealistic....haaland, mbappe, greenwood, pedri, Wirtz, musiala. Regens just start with a low current ability and take an age to get to a high ca. bit silly if they cant hit the max potential in game till 22/23 imo

The biggest problem this year is players development. Something is wrong without a doubt. I have 4 stars facilities, i have all coaches in all categories with at least 4 and a half stars. My players are perfoming amazingly in training with rating more than 9. I am playing in Premier league, i am playing in latter stages of european competitions. Player ratings, game time and personalities of my players are amazing. So i have almost perfect conditions to develop players and with my experience from so many years of playing it is so easy to compare things and notice that they made some mistake this year and they changed something. For me the biggest satisfaction of playing fm is player development espescially because every save that i play lasts at least 10 or 15 seasons. Now we dont have realistic chance to reach player potential and this is destrozing the game.

Now it looks almost impossible. It's not about facilities like i said i gave them regular starter playing time, with best coaches, with good ratings, a lot of assist and goals, with good training schedule designed to develop some key stats, they had good level of proffesionalism amition and determination. They played in euro cup final and i won title in premier league, but still nothing, maybe 2 attributes per year. It's ridiculous.

I totally agree with you. it seems to me from experience with fm22 that unless your youngsters are starting every game and in top form they don't seem to increase at all or if they do its at a very slow rate. Also youth intake....first season very good after that mines just been absolutely abysmal.

Have in mind that SI collect data and see about this. Seems like previous versions saw that players was reaching easily their PA (high or low does not matter), so it was more easily for user to finish the gameplay soon. I prefer what exist right now.
