The big news coming out of Anfield this morning is that Jurgen Klopp, a fan favourite with the Liverpool fans has left. Reports of a falling out with the clubs board over a lack of investment this season is rife, but the club were quick to move on to their next manager.

Enter a young British manager, Paul Hampton. With no management experience behind him since hanging up his own boots, the fans are rightly concerned. On the face of it, the club appear to have made a huge mistake. At his opening press conference Hampton pleads with the fans to show him patience, and assures them that he is the right man to keep the good times rolling at Anfield, and take the team to new heights.

With a transfer budget of just £24m, business is unlikely to happen in the summer window, however after being left a strong squad by Klopp, Hampton will be confident of a successful season.

You can catch the first three episodes of this story over on my Youtube channel below, new episodes will drop daily at 10am GMT featuring highlights of our season.

Can the good times keep rolling or will Liverpool flop without Klopp? Only one way to find out!

Liverpool get off to a flying start in their opening game of the season against Arsenal.

Nerves were high going in to the opening game against Arsenal. A new formation, and new tactics brought to the squad by the new manager Hampton had left the loyal fans asking what they could expect and whether the team could adapt to their new way of playing in time to play The Gunners.

Fears were put to rest early on, as Liverpool started the game fast and continued to dominate throughout the 90 minutes. Arsenal simply had no answer for the high pressing, fast one touch passing of Liverpool, eventually losing 8-0, with hat-tricks for both Mohammed Salah and Diogo Jota.

After such a win, spirits where high as Liverpool travelled to the Etihad. Hampton named an unchanged team for the game which would see the current champions attempt to put a marker down against their title rivals. It didn't take long for Manchester City to take the lead, Silva scoring after just two minutes. A bewildered Hampton couldn't believe what he was seeing, his defence had parted like the red sea infront of Moses and it looked like there were in for a long day. But, goals from Andy Robertson and Sadio Mane propelled The Reds in to a 2-1 lead, before Zinchenko rescued a point for the Champions in the 88th minute. Hampton told the press he was disappointed not to see out the game and claim and all important scalp so early in the season, but a point at the Etihad is never a bad result.
