I started playing when it came out in 1993 as Champoinship Manager, and absolutely loved it. I have bought every year and when it changed to Fooball Manger up to 2008 version to which I thought was the best version that was released ever. I did buy 2009/10 versions but there was getting so much new stuff added to it that I stopped buying it as I hardly ever touched them. I just kept playing the 2008 version all the time. That was until microsoft messed things up by updating operating systems then it stopped working. Recently I decided to buy the 2022 version and wow has it changed so much. It took me 3 days just to get my head round it all, and so I started a game and wow did I struggle. I always start in the lowest league available and picked Kettering. Three hours trying to get all the players and into the first friendly with the 2nd team. Managed to draw 0-0 but from then on it went all downhill finishing bottom of the league, well I didn't last till the end.of the season. A lot of people I know packed up the game years ago mainly becourse they did not have enough time to play it, Some people have to work for a living. I am now retired and enjoy playing games to keep my brain active, but 2022 version is just too much for me. It would be so nice to have an updated 2008 version just for us casual players, but I can see that is never going to happen. Games are now programmed for the young generation today. No thought is ever seemed to be given for the older folks who have all the time in the world on their hands.
You can always play FM Touch or Fifa....... In my opinion FM in no way intended to be aimed or programmed to the younger generation and to be honest FM is not getting complex football management simply is complex so for SI to give us more and more every year is to make the game more realistic finishing bottom of the league simply was just tactics, transfers all in all bad management ect.... try once again it's part of the game you dont just start a save and expect to walk to first place it's all trial and error... i have done saves with Bradford city got them up from league 2 to the championship then been relegated back to league one
I'm in my early 40's suffering from stage 2 dementia and have to do "brain games" everyday to stretch the time i have before i need to live in a nursing home. And even for me the FM isn't to complex.

The difference between the 2008 CM and the 2022 FM is huge because of all the stuff they added over the years. But they change and add just a few things every year to get the people slowly used to the new stuff. And a lot of it is just nice to have like the data center etc.
You can also give many responsibilities to your staff members such as training practice, hiring stuff, interviews, team talk etc. You get better results if you do it yourself but if all the options are to much for you you can focus on the important parts such as tactics.

But if you state that it took you 3 hours to get to the first friendly managing a team in the lowest league then i'm calling you a liar. It's a meme that people spend hours setting up everything before they push the continue button for the first time but this is just true when managing a higher league team.
In lower leagues there just isn't any backroom staff to manage, almost no transfers to be done and you just have 2 days of training practice to do per week and you can't even change the training schedule. I just started a save in german division 6 recently and within 3 hours i was going almost through half of the season.
The only way you spent 3 hours before finishing the first friendly when managing a lower league club is when you are a slow reader that goes through every single menu for the first time to find out about all the options.

I get that the FM 2022 is way more complex than the CM 2008 but i wonder if you are still rocking an SNES because the Playstation 1 is to complex for you.

Op post makes no sense.
I am nearly 60, and was part of the first computer game generation. We are pretty used to, and enjoy games that are complex, and not games that just give you constant and regular dopamine hits for hitting the button at the right speed and correct order etc.
If I don't need a notepad and pen to keep notes for a game, it isn't substantive enough for me.
though there are always exception to everything, for the most part we came from table top and spread sheet game backgrounds and have no problem with complexity.
I bought my first game "Sink the Bismark" in high school and it came on cassette tapes, to let you know how early I got into computer gaming.

I was recently in a horse racing sim online league with a bunch of other mostly geezers, and dudes had record logs and spread sheets of all their horse breeding - hardcore stuff even to me.

Also to suggest retired old guys don't have time for complex games, like young working guys trying to build a family/ career etc. is flat out absurd.

Also FM does a pretty good job of providing tools to help with most of the complex stuff you can even delegate what you don't want to do to other staff members.
So I don't really give much credence to any of this, but there is always "candy crush" on cell phone for simplicity.
