It seems odd to me that I have to wait on an individual to generate something so I can use software that is functionally paywalled. I feel like if the original keyfile is automated, then generating a new one should be as well. The cynic in me tells me that it's to push people to just donate again. I get people have their own lives and all, but if it's too much work to keep up with then I wish it was set it up so it won't lock people out of stuff they paid for.
Your logic makes no sense as he isn't asking you to donate again, clearly there is a bug in the application which Eugene has identified as the only solution is to have a new unique ID set up. I get your point though with the automation of the generation of the key
