I've just discovered that scouts and coaches in the game compare players to those in your squad when they rate them. I want to be able to judge players objectively on an individual basis and i was wondering what tools people use to do this? I've had a look at the genie scout but i'm not really sure how the ratings work.....could someeone recommend me a tool to use (preferably one that does not require the game to be loaded up) or tell me a little more about the genie scout and how i could use it for this?
i find it easy to use the game to scout players but i do use a good team and have top scouts

Genie scout is by far the easiest way to find good players and judge their skill individually. In the player search window, just fill in for example younger than 21, and PR above 75% as central defender. This allows you to quickly spot all the players who are younger than 21 and have a potential rating higher than 75%. Also you are able to sort on sale price, PA, CA, etc., to quickly find the best player to do the job.
star rating is changing according to level of your team.for example if you play with Real Madrid they give a 2 star to a player but same player can get 5 star in KR Reyjkavik or Valur.(yes im into Icelandic league:D)
this is a big problem in the lower leauges, all my staff keep giving everybody 5-star ratings... bloody annoying... I've got almost no players in ths squad atm... but due to this it's really hard to compare potential transfers with eachother ...

there should be a general rating too, thats the only solution if you dont use a scout programme.
Its also a big problem if you are playing a team like Barca! When hunting for new talent, if your scout finds a right winger with a PA of ~180, he might only give him 3 or 3 ½ stars as he will be comparing him to messi! Makes it really hard to find the future stars....
