I really want to use a retro database in FM24 to use some of my favorite players growing up. However i am unsure on the effects it will have on my current save files. Will they no longer load? Will I lose the original database? Is my laptop good enough to handle running a whole new custom database? I am honestly clueless when it comes to a custom databse on FM. I have skins badges real names etc and have never had a problem with that.

Overall I would like to find out whether 1: My current saves will be okay, and 2: If my laptop is going to be able to handle running a custom database.

Any help appreciated.

Current saves are absolutely fine to use alongside retro database ones. The original database will still be there, you just need to make sure not to select the retro database editor file when you start a new save on the current database.

If you want retro graphics though you will need to remove your current graphics and move them somewhere safe before adding the retro ones. Either that or use the launch options in Steam.

It would depend on your laptop but if it's capable of handling the current database it should handle a retro one. Retro ones take longer to load initially as the save setup removes current staff and players but is fine once set up.

Which database are you looking to play?

Hello, thanks for the help, i would be looking to use one anywhere between 2004-2013. Am not being picky as i have never done it before so anything in my early watching years would be fantastic.

My laptop currently runs base fm very well on high graphics and a database with over 100,000 players on.

You'll be fine then in terms of running it.

There are limited ones out for FM24 atm. 13/14 has been fully released and 98/99 and 92/93 are available via the save game import feature. 07/08 likely to be released in March

Using a retro database in Football Manager 24 can indeed add a nostalgic twist to your gaming experience, allowing you to relive memories with your favorite players from the past. Fortunately, incorporating a custom database shouldn't affect your existing save files adversely. Typically, custom databases are separate entities, so your current saves should remain intact and accessible. However, it's always a good idea to back up your save files, just in case. As for the performance of your laptop, it largely depends on its specifications. Speaking of databases, if you're interested in exploring further, you might find trading companies in Dubai that specialize in retro gaming merchandise, adding an extra layer of nostalgia to your gaming setup. Just make sure to balance your gaming time with exploring the vibrant offerings of trading companies in Dubai
When it comes to managing custom databases, it's essential to ensure they're sourced from reliable platforms or creators to avoid any compatibility issues or corrupted data.
