Hi sorry if this is in the wrong section but it is my first post.

I have just downloaded the genie which is brilliant.

i was wondering if someone could anwser somthing for me. I have a player who is only 18 year old

He shows as having a current ability of 40 but a potential of 172.

In the Genie when i click Show potential attributes obviously a number of his attributes increase but his current ability only jumps from 40 to 114 (not 172). Im not sure why this is. Is this telling me the player will never reach 172 or can the genie only predict so much or is it somethign else

cheers
Hi, and welcome :)

It's a prediction perhaps 85% accurate that means your player will indeed never reach his full potential, and go up to 114.
ok thanks for your quick reply

Obviously you are unable (either because you can't or because you don't want) to understand that. If you think you can do a better job, prove it; until then learn to say "thank you".

Watch ur mouth when u r talking to anyone else. U can not do anything u want cause u own that site!! Say the word and close the topic so u ll continue ur kingdom! Just grove up man! Just reply more polite! So everyone in this forum has to reply as u like or will be punished? So choose ur words more mature! thats not a street fight!
@Gio - why not post an appropriate comment on the appropriate topic, your reply has nothing to do with CA/PA. Its seems your the one more intent on starting a street fight.

@Apollo - as far as I can tell, how much a player can develop depends on his ambition, professionalism, work rate, match experience and the quality of training. I reckon the genie prediction is based on the players current status of these attributes and factors and based on them staying the same. If in a year his development attributes have increased (through tutoring) or is at a club with better training, then his predicted Genie PA will likely be higher.
Hi everyone!

I am new with Genie Scout and here.

I would like to know how can you see the prediction of his potential ability? Where I can see up to current ability value the player can develop?

Cheers
In genie scout if you are viewing a players profile near the top (right above mental and physical attributes) there is a square that says "show potential attributes", tick this and it will show genies prediction of what potential that player will fill.

This prediction is good, useful and quite accurate based on the players current status but is NOT definite and CAN be greatly improved by increasing a players development attributes (ambition, professionalism, work rate and possibly determination?) and by giving him match experience.
As the others have said, it is a prediction which is generally pretty good for judging which players will be decent players if they reach their potential (I've had several players who have reached 170-180 CA but actually been pretty pap due to deficiencies in crucial stats). However, after years of play I still don't get how and why players develop.

I played a game (09) with a top team with top facilities and the best coaches for 10 years and some players reach their PA and become excellent whereas others stagnate. Sometimes stagnant players have been playing regularly and have good professionalism and work rate, whereas the excellent players sometimes don't have as good professionalism, determination or work rate but mature into excellent players without playing that much. If you're using genie scout then you're eliminating a lot of the randomness from the game by unmasking what is intended to be masked so this uncertainty over how and why players develop adds some excitement back to the game.

Well, yes I can but that's irrelevant. I reply however I feel appropriate, if you're not being polite it's more likely you'll get a similar reply from me. My apologies if I hurt your feelings, but I'm tired of people judging and condemning in the comfort of their own shoes. I didn't punish you by the way, but you can continue in this fashion and see what happens. But please start a new thread on the off-topic section if you want to carry on with this "fight".

Nope i wont continue this fight. am not that childish.I accept the apology. So have a nice day in your site.
@apollo0681
that means that ur 18 yo only can make till 114 cause he will be too old to go more. I mean when he is 26 or 27 he will be 114 and from now on u know fm players dont improve that much.
Hi all,

I'm a bit of a lurker but I have another noob question.

How does the rating (%) for each player relate to CA/PA?

Is the positional rating a reflection of if the players stats benefit his playing position?

Thanks in advance
Good question about % rating, I have a sneaking suspicion that this rating is far more important than CA - this holds true only if the stat weighting used to produce a % rating is correct. There are a number of issues here.

Firstly, the stat weighting algorithm Eugene uses to provide a % rating seems to be pretty good in my experience.

Secondly, I would assume that the % rating holds true if your tactics are pretty generic but may be quite inaccurate if you have highly specialised tactics. I'll elaborate - Eugene's stat weighting algorithm places a heavy emphasis on positioning, passing and tackling for a CM, suppose you have a player like Steven Gerrard who likes to attack and likes to roam. Whilst passing continues to be a key stat, positioning and tackling is probably less of a concern if you want a roaming, attack minded CM which means that for this specialised position the % rating may not be quite as accurate as you would like.

If you check the menu in Genie Scout there is an option to edit the % rating weighting algorithm (% rating -> edit player rating) but this is quite an advanced operation and for normal purposes Eugene's weighting is excellent.

Whilst CA reflects somewhat on % rating there are wild differences. For example, I believe that physical stats often eat up more CA than the others (particularly pace and acceleration) meaning that a super athletic player may have quite a high CA but technically be quite poor which may lower his % rating. Also, some players just seem to have a high CA in comparison to their stats as a youngster which will impede how far their stats will improve.

Example: Player A has 100/180 with 50% rating, player B has 100/150 with 60% rating. Both are 16. In my opinion player B will normally turn out to be the better player, even though his PA is far lower. A particularly excellent training routine and player development schedule MAY let player A exceed player B but I think there is a fair amount of randomness so you'd need a lot of luck too. I've often found a 150 CA dude who is on 10K a week consistently out performs the 180 CA, 80K pw beast and, surprise surprise, the cheap guy has a better % rating.
