HELP - Free transfer glitch?

Hey Guys,

I'm new to the forum but not new to FM. I'm having a problem that I've never seen before in any FM game. I'm Coventry in the Championship (Feb in the first season) and on course to get to the Premier League. I have therefore started hunting for players for next season, in the free / expiring contract market.

I approached and agreed a contract with Matias De Federico of Corinthians. However, he has appeared in my squad but is ineligible to play (the transfer / contract isnt supposed to go through until the end of the season).

I also recieved a message about him putting his Corinthians future in doubt by turning down a contract, followed by another message saying "De Federico has ended speculation of a move to Athletico by committing his future to Coventry. He signed a new 3 year contract with the club. De Federico is reportedly unsettled at the Pacaembu" which is the Corinthians stadium.

Now hes in my squad but has no contract details, and I still have the "make an offer" option and he is worth nothing. Hes also still in the Corinthians squad but is greyed out with the "fgn" symbol.

Any ideas what the hell is going on? I dont want to restart my game because getting Cov 15 points clear at the top of the league in Feb is an achievement in itself

is your version the new patch? If not, download the last patch because it might have it covered. If it is the last patch try posting on the SI forums?

well you have to consider that the brazilian season ends around this time, so his old contract should be expired already.

I thought it may be something to do with this but does this explain why hes still seen in the corinthians team? and why i had that muddled message about his contract?

Yes, famous bug. I get that a lot in FM10. Do you have an option release on a free? If you have then release him and offer him a contract as free player. That worked for me in FM10. Don't forget to save the game before doing that so you can load if he decide to sign for another club

So will this right itself at the end of the season should I decide to leave it or will he never be abe to play for me?

EDIT: No theres no option to release him on a free...

i think it won't be alright at the end of the season. i hope i'm wrong. you can try to make an offer for him. try 0€

well that has thoroughly F**ked me off, I thought it was a bit too much of a good signing. Completely put me off the game for the time being. =(

you can try to load that player in FMRTE and make his contract expire (tomorrow or in a 2 days) and than when he's without club offer him a contract.
