I need the best DC in the world!

Well, these days I'm "reviving" an old save with olympiakos and season 2012-2013 is about to end.
My team has a lot of really promising players but we need some experienced ones in each line to reach next level. We just lost in the ECL final (in a way that is really worth a post of its own)and with some big contracts I’m about to offload, I expect a transfer budget around 40m…
I signed Dzeko for free at the end of his contract and my next thought was a good defender…
Despite reaching the Champions League final I think we still have a low reputation so I can’t bid for “big” players but I really need a very good DC who will be able to make the difference when it matters.
Here are some market information:
My favorite Otamendi won’t come, wouldn’t even negotiate an offer.
Kompany and Jerome Boateng are transfer listed and possibly interested but I’m not sure if they meet my expectations…
Some teams have started bidding for Pichu Atienza. He’s a player with great stats and I could easily make him mine since I’m his agent’s favorite but I’ve never heard him before…
I’ve heard a lot about Jordan Spence and Kevin Long but I’ve never played them. They’re still in their starting clubs so I suppose they are easy targets…
My DCs are Avraam Papadopoulos (I didn’t expect it but he’s the best in my European runs),
Kyriakos Papadopoulos and Kostas Manolas (both good for Greek league but not for Champions League, YET)
Mathias Jorgensen (has proved a decent choice but not very reliable in big games, has frustrated me a lot)
Alfred N’diaye and Nkoulou are better DMCs than DCs but are useful when I rotate the squad.
I also have a regen who is quite good but VERY slow and I’m going to sell him as a 12m offer just arrived.
I think I’ve said almost everything so I can’t wait for your suggestions,

Leonel Galeano is really good

Kompanay is a really good choice if u ask me. With my Manchester city game he had the best rating of all my defenders for the 3 years I played. He was usually in my starting 11 and he also scored a lot of goals from corners.

Pichu Altienza is good. I'd never heard of him either but I was hired by Man. City on my Enlgand save and they had already bought him. He's just returned from injury and he's been fantastic in his first couple of games. I recommend him.

he's had great attribbutes in all of my games but never rated well, and that includes playing for me

Pichu Atienza is gone, Schalke got him but i believe there are a lot players better than him out there...
I would still appreciate any further advice but i'm 90% sure about my plans. Since i consider the rest of the team ok, perhaps i'll try to get Otamendi (at any cost) to revive sweet memories from FM09 when him and Lugano were my solid rocks in defence.
I don't know if he's that good in fm11 but his stats are amazing and his rating too... My scouts tell me Porto would demand around 30-35m and are controversial as for his interest to come which gives me hope...
If he refuses until the end of transfer window Phil Jones and Jordan Spence or perhaps Musacchio from Villareal will be the candidates for his position… Damn, if I had the money 2 years ago I would already have one of them but now, as some seasons have past I’m not so sure about their further development that’s why I prefer a more “grown” player…

he's an absolute beast in my save too. Unfortunately there is no way to get such a player from Premier League to greek Superleague (the name of the league can make you laugh), at the start of the save not even leigh griffiths would negotiate the move and he's still in dundee! Wilson is in Liverpool's starting eleven and with a rating around 7.5...

hello mate. try hummels , subotic ,kjaer , chiellini (the best- 18 heading , 18 marking , 19 tackilng , 17 strength , 20 naturall fitness) , ranocchia , kompany, kaboul , bassong , verthongen(only 10 mil-amazing techincal attributes for an dc) ,rami (only 6 mil) , m'bia , shawcross .. GOOD LUCK!!

chiellini is without a doubt in the top 3 dcs in the world. Arguably he is the best.
I might add pique but i don't know if you'll be able to pry him of barca. He scored a HATTRICK with ironically 3 headers in my save.
