I've made an interesting observation. My first three seasons with Leeds, I had Richard Naylor as captain and there were bookings and sending offs in every single game. Now for my fourth season I signed Steven Defour and made him captain as he as some incredible leadeship attributes and now we have the fewest bookings in the entire league?

Could the captain make the difference here? Cause I've been wondering what kind of an effect does a good captain have on the squad.
Thats a great point you make, I never considered that my captain could effect how dirty my team plays, I wonder if Defour has a low dirtyness attribute.
Yes the captain can make a difference
The attributes for a good captain are
Work rate, Team Work , Influence And i think Decisions and Determination ...........

I'm detecting a hint of sarcasm? :D

If I'm not wrong he's got a high dirtyness rating?
Lol no sarcasm meant, I generally never considered that the captain might affect how many cards my team gets. And Defour does has a lower dirtyness attribute than Naylor ;) on my save.
i often have a problems about lack of discipline and it effect to my squad. How to settle this problem? i already tried many ways but it fail.. can you all give and share some info and guide...tq..
The captain may make a difference. Also don't use hard tackling if you want less cards, your assistant will usually set hard tackling on all offensive players if you have him set opposition instructions so check that. Also fining players for a straight red and warning for 2 yellows red should help. I've noticed that the better my players understand each other the less cards my team gets so you should get less cards each season as your squad becomes more united.
Hi everyone, I am new to FM scout but have been using it for tips and what not for some time now, I would like to share my thoughts on this subject of captaincy.

Storey is i started a new game with Arsenal, im not a gunners fan but they have good youngsters and feel their team needs a bit of work which will be a challenge, not so much for PL but more for Europe.

Fabregas was my captain in the first season with Van persie as VC, In the summer of second season i strengthend the midfied by having ramsey returning from injury and signing jack rodwell and yohann caybay from everton and lille respectivly. also had song and diaby in back up.

I won PL in first season 7 pts clear of man city in 2nd. CL quarters and FA cup runners up against Man city. so not a bad season to start with.

At the start of the second season I received a bid from real madrid for cesc fab for an outright £43m and also a bid from Roma for van persie for £17.5m, I did not need the money but i like to have players on low wages so i accepted the offer and transfers went through which meant for the second season i had to choose new captain and VC.

I chose new captain as Thomas Vermaelen and VC was Yohann Caybaye.

My problem is now that i am struggling in the league, i am nearly at christmas in second season and cant hit the leagure form i showed first season. i am in 10th position and 13pts off the top. I have not changed tactics or training at all!. I cannot see my poor results being anything else than loosing fabregas and van persie as these were world class reputable players.

So i feel in my experiance that although players may not have a high influence rating they can make a difference in results and discipline.

Definitely true that captains make a difference but here it seems as though you haven't replaced Fabregas and Van Persie at all. Cabaye and Vela are no where near the level of ability of these players and that might be the main reason your having a more difficult season.
I agree Evo 100% that Vela and Caybaye not the same quality than cesc and v.persie.

I suppose i need to spend the cash in january, i really dont want to be spending loads though on transfer fees and wages. i want to cap wages for any player at £65k p/w for key players. - i have a budget of £75m but only looking to spend around £25m-£30m to replace both cesc and v.persie

I would also like to carry on the wenger tradition of signing young and devloping players but just like in real life you dont win anything with young players and now i can see why.

My starting 11 cup or league normally consists of , S.Corchia (20yrs), M.Sakho (21 yrs), J.Rodwell (20yrs), A.Ramsey (21yrs) A.Sanchez (22yrs), J.Wilshire (19yrs),

I will have a think becuase i hope that rodwell will develop into a commanding midfielder in 2/3 seasons but the board prob wont want to wait that long so i may be looking for another job in season 3. lol

I also dont like to use Genie or FMRTE, i like to play fair so i will have to re-assign my scouts for more experianced players

There are lots of young and promising players with enough quality to replace your missing striker, Neymar and Lukaku are the most tested ones. On the other hand it will be quite difficult to find a good box to box midfielder with fabregas' ability, at least I had this problem...
Thanks omar,

I do like lukaku and neymar but lukaku at chelses and neymar is more money than i wanna spend on transfer and to much wages, im trying to keep transfer fees low and wages reasonable.

Many thanks
You currently have a very young team, and as a result you're lacking experience and better pressure handling. But regardless, I like your approach with the youth and I'll recommend some more of them lol

I'd probably get rid of Ramsey (too slow and overrated), Djourou, Diaby, Bendnet and Nasri. Also Scheszney, what name is that :P

Then I'd sign 4-6 top class players:
- Khouma Babacar (give Fiorentina anything up to 38M).
- Phil Jones (Otamendi is short and better of a DR imo - up to 12M)
- Jordan Spence (up to 8M)
- Pjanic (to replace the slow Ramsey - anything up to 24M)
- Joe Lewis (for backup GK to replace that Polish dude)
- Mehdi Abeid (amazing player for the future, he'll rock EPL as AMC inside forward)

By the way, use Wilshere at A/MC not at the wing. Guardado is a much better option there.
I see what you mean stam, great stuff,

I have also been looking at the following players to develop and solve the problem of loosing cesc and v.persie

MC - Yann M'Vila - Stade Rennais, i had a bid of £14.5m accepted as he looks great but he wanted too much in wages so gave up on him.

SC - Seydou Doumbia - CSKA Moskow - Great goalscorer, currently in negotiations for £12m and £50k p/w wages.

I am going to try and push Wilshire in MC as he is a decent tackler, I dont want to replace Nasri in AMC - hopefully it dont backfire. lol!
