Hi all,

I am getting a work laptop and it will run Linux. I want to install FM on it so I can play when travelling for work, what are people experiences using FM on Linux, does it work well? I cannot seem to find a lot of information on if things like face, logo or kitpacks will work as well as if newgan manager will work,

Keen to hear peoples thoughts.

thanks

John
some years ago when i tried it, there was an app called wine to run steam, but i think steam is compatible with linux nowadays, so as long as drivers are installed, it should be good.
faces, etc its a matter of finding where Sports Interactive folder is.

There have been no problems since at least 2019. In 9/10 cases it works 'as is', and in 1/10 cases it is only necessary to change the Proton version in the settings.

@nicolas_om: Have you tested FM24 on Linux? What do you mean by "work as is"? The game working fine via Steam without having to do anything like what SirTAVARES described?

I have the Steam versions of FM20, 21, 22, 23, and the Epic version of FM24. All of them work like they do on Windows—you install and you play. In 6 years, I only had one problem: the spacebar stopped working when switching between FM and other programs, which was solved by simply changing the Proton version. I don't use facepacks, and I've never had any issues with logopacks, stadiumpacks, citypacks, trophiespacks, or name fixes.
It's good to know the game has worked on Linux even though it wasn't supported in theory. It makes me wonder why SI officially announced the game stopped supporting Linux as of FM19.

Do you think it could be related to certain flavors / editions of Linux? Or perhaps the developers didn't want to be dealing with Linux support queries anymore.
