I’m starting a career with Le Mans FC in the French second division. As I am partly French and Le Mans is 1 hour away from where I was born, I thought it fitting to try and bring this club back into the limelight! They had their best spell in the late 2000s with a best ligue 1 finish in 2007 (9th). The objective is to pertain their place in ligue 2 initially with a core of promising young players before eventually aiming for promotion and more! Half season Update:
After starting the season with mixed results we’ve progressively improved and I am now writing on the back of 6 wins on the trot. We sit 2nd in the league to my surprise if I am honest as we did not have any budget to buy anyone in the summer. Our transfers consisted of Bokele on loan from Metz and free agent striker Ryan Bakayoko who have both performed relatively well. We have also passed 3 rounds in the French cup and will be facing Marseille in the round of 32 which will be a huge game for the club. The club has extended my contract for 2 seasons in light of these results. I decided to play in a 433 with counter attacking tactic as I believed having a strong defence would help us get results in our quest to stay in the division. As I said I can say that I am pleasantly surprised at the results at this halfway point. I hope we can keep it up but we will have to contend with no funds in the winter market and a limited squad in terms of numbers… more to follow!
